No full textIl volume tratta dell'apparente divaricazione tra etica e conoscenza scientifica, prassi e teoria. La distinzione dei due ambiti è messa in discussione dal crescente sviluppo delle nuove tecnologie e dei sistemi d'intelligenza artificiale. Gli impatti della ricerca sono infatti di grande rilevanza e la loro regolamentazione sul piano etico diviene un punto imprescindibile per evitare un utilizzo scorretto delle conoscenze acquisite. L'avvento delle nuove tecnologie ha resto siffatto sodalizio ancora più necessario, ridefinendo l'idea di natura, di autonomia e di agire morale, e aprendo a nuovi interrogativi etici. In questo contesto il suolo della sfera pubblica è fondamentale poiché va a definire e a influenzare i contorni del quadro in cui il dibattito si sviluppa. I contributi del volume guardano a tali questioni da varie angolazioni, mettendo in proficuo dialogo tematiche epistemologiche, etiche e politiche

Full text linkIn my discussion of Adriano Fabris’ Etica e ambiguità [Ethics and Ambiguity], I will consider three main objections. 1) Firstly, I will discuss Fabris’ attempt to criticize and reshape the Aristotelian ἔλεγχος, as it appears in the fourth book of Metaphysics, from a performative perspective, showing that it already falls within, and is substantially invalidated by, the semantic domain of Aristotle’s distinction between “contradiction” and “self-contradicting”. 2) Secondly, since Fabris invokes a reform of Western philosophy’s general attitude towards action and relation, I will show how classic ontology (notably Plato’s notions of being, as opposed to Parmenides’, and dialectics) already provides a robust example of a deeply relational (though admittedly not performative in the sense highlighted by Fabris) notion of being. 3) Thirdly, I criticize Fabris’ notion of relation, because it indifferently refers both to ontology and ethics, whereas a proper ethical consideration of it, while necessarily involving ontology, should be treated as distinct from the former

No full textAdriano Fabris’ book, Etica delle nuove tecnologie, has recently been republished. In the nine years since its first publication, information and communication technologies have evolved and transformed our habitat into what the scientific literature calls the «infosphere». In this article, I will address the novel characteristics that Fabris attributed to the «new technologies» in 2012, in order to ask whether his theses are still useful in our interpretation of the contemporary world. At the end of my reconstruction, I will propose a further step to Fabris’ arguments, inspired by intergenerational ethics
