Rationality of benzodiazepines use in older patients
Institution/department: Charles University, Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové, Department of Social and Clinical Pharmacy Title of diploma thesis: Rationality of benzodiazepine use in older patients Supervisor: Assoc. Prof. Daniela Fialová, PharmDr. Ph.D. Author: Adriana Magátová Introduction: Benzodiazepines are one of the most commonly prescribed potentially inappropriate drugs (PIMs) in geriatric patients in Europe and are responsible for common problems associated with risky drug prescription in older age (eg, cognitive impairment, falls, orthostatic hypotension, drug dependence, and others). Physiological and pathophysiological changes associated with the aging process, as well as frequent polymorbidity and polypharmacotherapy, are associated with more frequent occurrence of drug-related complications in older age. With the growing proportion of geriatric population, the importance of preventing drug complications in older adults increases. The aim of this study was to compare prescribing habits in the use of BZD and in the use of drug combinations with sedative potential and to determine the association of their use with drug-related risks in geriatric patients in community pharmacy practice in Spain (SP) and the Czech Republic (CZ) and in groups of patients assessed in various healthcare settings..
Evaluation of the racionality of pharmacotherapy in geriatric patients in ambulatory and acute care- analyses of pain treatment and use of opioids
Institution/department: Charles University, Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové, Department of Social and Clinical Pharmacy Title of rigorous thesis: Evaluation of the rationality of pharmacotherapy in geriatric patients in ambulatory and acute care- analyses of pain treatments and use of opioids Supervisor: Assoc. Prof. Daniela Fialová, PharmDr. Ph.D. Author: Adriana Slaná Objectives: The core issue in geriatric treatment is the selection of the most appropriate and the safest drug regimen. Geriatric patients often suffer from multiple disorders and particularly seniors with unresolved pain tend to use polypharmacy, often irrationally. This study focused on the description of pain prevalence and use of opioids in seniors in two settings of care (acute and ambulatory care) in the Czech Republic and on analyses of negative outcomes associated with use of opioids in combined drug regimens. Methods: Data were collected during 2018-2019 in various healthcare facilities in the Czech Republic as the part of EUROAGEISM H2020 ESR7 project. Prospective study included assessments of 1152 patients who were 65 years or older in acute (N=589) or ambulatory (N= 563) care in 4 cities (Prague, Brno, Hradec Králové and Opava). Data were collected through the standardised questionnaire, using interviews with patients and..

TITLE: Education of pupils with behavioural problems at secondary schools AUTHOR: Adriana Drbalová DEPARTMENT: Department of Special Education SUPERVISOR: PhDr. Zbyněk Němec, Ph.D. ABSTRACT: The thesis is focused on children behavioural problems at secondary schools in the context of Czech education system. The thesis aim is to find out about education, upbringing and integration process of these troubled children. In the theoretic part it will be explained the terms - behavioural problem and its most frequent symptoms at secondary school, a troubled pupil, types of secondary schools, that will be related to this work and causes of behavioural problem at this age. The empirical part will be realized by conversations at five different secondary schools in the Czech Republic. It will be used the method of quality. The conversations will be taken place with methodists of prevention, psychologists or teachers of the troubled pupils. The empirical part will be implemented with the aid of qualitative interviewing -semi-structured interview. The interview will be taped and written down. Afterwards I will make interwees answers necessary for survey. KEYWORDS: Troubled pupil, secondary schools, behavioural problems preventio
Strategies to Improve the Properties of Amaranth Protein Isolate-Based Thin Films for Food Packaging Applications: Nano-Layering through Spin-Coating and Incorporation of Cellulose Nanocrystals
© 2020 by the authors. In this work, two different strategies for the development of amaranth protein isolate (API)-based films were evaluated. In the first strategy, ultrathin films were produced through spin-coating nanolayering, and the effects of protein concentration in the spin coating solution, rotational speed, and number of layers deposited on the properties of the films were evaluated. In the second strategy, cellulose nanocrystals (CNCs) were incorporated through a casting methodology. The morphology, optical properties, and moisture affinity of the films (water contact angle, solubility, water content) were characterized. Both strategies resulted in homogeneous films with good optical properties, decreased hydrophilic character (as deduced from the contact angle measurements and solubility), and improved mechanical properties when compared with the neat API-films. However, both the processing method and film thickness influenced the final properties of the films, being the ones processed through spin coating more transparent, less hydrophilic, and less water-soluble. Incorporation of CNCs above 10% increased hydrophobicity, decreasing the water solubility of the API films and significantly enhancing material toughness. The authors thank the Mexican project FOMIX-QRO-2011-C02-175350 for financial support and Mexican National Council for Science and Technology (CONACYT) for a graduate fellowship, to author Adriana Blanco-Padilla.Peer reviewe
Pedagogical Aspects of the Research into Issues of Substitutional Family Care
TITLE: Pedagogical Aspects of the Research into Issues of Substitutional Family Care AUTHOR: Adriana Sychrová ABSTRACT: The aim of the dissertation is to clarify the role of foster and adoptive families in the society from a pedagogical perspective. This work presents elaboration of selected pedagogical aspects that appear to be essential in foster and adoptive care. These are the importance of the family in society, the motivation for adopting or fostering a child, adoptive and foster parenting, education of adoptive and foster parents, the child's socialization, socio- pedagogical support network for adoptive and foster families and the child's education. The research part of the paper deals with the process of education of the child in substitutional family care from the perspective of adoptive and foster parents. The research was conducted as a qualitative survey by the multiple-case study design based on interviews with adoptive and foster parents. Analytical procedures were based on the grounded theory. A paradigmatic model of education of a child in an adoptive or foster family was designed. The research results show that the foster and adoptive families create their own deliberate way of achieving educational goals that can be termed family curriculum. Family curriculum is characterized by five..
