Autoethnography: Unpacking a Method and Lived Experience(s) as Data
It is not unusual for new research tools and approaches to be viewed with some level of skepticism before their eventual acceptance, and popularity. Autoethnography, a qualitative research method, has found itself in similar quagmire as it presently struggles with the question of acceptance and popular usage, three decades after its introduction by Carolyn Ellis (1995). This worrisome attitude, to its use, most especially in studies where it is the most suitable (yet unused), underscores the need to revisit its nature and application. In this review, we examine the definitions of autoethnography, its strengths and limitations, and provide some guidelines to writing a good autoethnographic work, with the hope that more scholars will consider its use where it will be invaluable in knowledge production
Sexuality Discourse in Contemporary Yoruba Music: A Study of Abass Akande ‘Obesere’ and Janet Ajilore ‘Saint Janet’
Sexuality is a central aspect of human life that encompassessex, gender, identities and roles, sexual orientation, eroticism, pleasure, intimacy and reproduction. It is experienced and expressed in thoughts, fantasies, desires, beliefs and, in some cases, misinterpreted as nothing but vulgarity. The desire to preserve the ‘sanctity’ of the Yoruba language so that it will remain ‘morally clean’ despite its use in music has made sexuality discourse in music a discouraged subject among the Yorubas. Hence, the derision of sexuality related discourses on the public space. Using Foucault’s theory ofsexuality embodied in his history of sexuality as a foil, we aver that the stigmatization of Obesere and Saint Janet’s music as “immoral” and ‘not fit for the ears’ is basically because they both frustrate efforts to control sex at the level of speech, and inadvertently intensify discourses on sex, sexual
performance and the power relations among Yoruba men and women which all had concomitant effects on morals on and off the public space

Synthesis of SrTiO3 and Al-doped SrTiO3via the deep eutectic solvent route
SrTiO3 and aluminum-doped SrTiO3 are synthesized by calcination of metal salts dissolved in a deep eutectic solvent (DES) without any post-synthesis treatment. The DES used is the eutectic mixture of choline chloride (hydrogen bond acceptor) and malonic acid (hydrogen bond donor). Titanium(IV) oxide bis(2,4-pentanedionate) is utilized as the non-volatile, easy-to-handle, DES-soluble titanium precursor. The ammonia gas evolved during the calcination process provides a reducing atmosphere, resulting in the formation of Ti3+ and oxygen vacancies within the SrTiO3 matrix. According to UV-Vis spectroscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, the amount of Ti3+ species and oxygen vacancies (VO) in the synthesized perovskite can be tuned by varying the duration of the calcination process and by adding Al3+ dopants. Solid state 27Al NMR spectroscopy and powder X-ray diffraction confirm the doping of aluminum into the octahedral site of the perovskite structure. Surface photovoltage spectroscopy confirms that Al3+ dopants can eliminate Ti3+ defects in Al-doped SrTiO3. Ultraviolet illumination experiments in water and aqueous methanol show that SrTiO3 and aluminum-doped SrTiO3, after modification with RhxCr2−xO3 or Pt co-catalysts, evolve small amounts of H2 (EQE of 0.0113–0.0173% at 375 nm) with only traces of O2 detected. The lack of photocatalytic activity is attributed to rapid electron-hole recombination in the oxygen vacancy-rich materials and to the lack of crystal facets that could aid charge separation. This article is published as Adeyemi, Adedoyin N., Amrit Venkatesh, Chengcan Xiao, Zeqiong Zhao, Ying Li, Tori Cox, Dapeng Jing, Aaron J. On the estimation of the black-capped vireo (Vireo atricapillus) territory density using geographic information systems technology, 1996
This study is based on a 1994 survey of the nesting and territory preferences of the black-capped vireo, a small migratory songbird, within Fort Hood, Texas. By Federal Government Order 51 FR 44808-44812 of 1987 (Tazik et al., 1992), these birds were declared an endangered species based on a series of studies by J. D. Cornelius in 1985 and 1986 (Tazik et al., 1993). In this study, it has been shown that the vireo nesting and territory preferences are not uniform across Fort Hood installation grounds, rather the preference is towards the north to northwest. The vegetation in this region consists of oak woodlands, with grassy undergrowth; the elevation is at most 260 meters above sea level; and the geology yields loose and chalky limestone. In addition, the territory intensity, ?ij(s), for each point s(x,y) in the ijth grid cell on the military installation, has been estimated. For each such grid cell, the probability of a successful territory is given by Geographic Information Systems (GIS) raster color maps of territory distribution of the vireo have been produced. These maps were overlaid on the slope, aspect, soils, elevation, vegetation, and military activities coverages. With the density estimate of nesting success and the GIS maps, territory position preferences were identified, thus, helping in the Land Management Plan for the preservation of the black-capped vireo on the Fort Hood Military Installation
e-Human Resource Management and Organizational Performance (e-HRM) in the Nigerian Banking Industry: An Empirical Study of Guaranty Trust Bank Plc.
Title of Article : e-Human Resource Management and Organizational Performance (e-HRM) in the Nigerian Banking Industry: An Empirical Study of Guaranty Trust Bank Plc. Author(s): Abiodun, A. J., Adeyemi, K. S.&Osibanjo, A. O. Outlet : ANVESHA The Journal of Management, Indian Education Society’ Management College and Research Centre, Mumbai. Submission Date: 2013 Abstract: The study attempted to examine the effects of e-Human Resource Management (with emphasis on e-recruitment, e-performance management; e-appraisal and e-training) on Organizational Performance focusing on service delivery and commitment. A structured questionnaire was used to collect data from 232 respondents from Guaranty Trust Bank Plc and were analyzed using Amos 21, which can be used in testing relationship between variables. However, it was revealed in our model that strong positive association exist amongst e-HRM variables and was in line with organizational performance variable. Further, noted amongst others is the close and significant relationship that exist between e-recruitment and service delivery, thereby accepting the study hypotheses. It is therefore recommended that banks and by extension the corporate world should adopt the use of electronic in delivering their activities especially in human resources. For further study, similar study should be carried out in other industry like manufacturing
Exploring trends and tropes in young adult fantasy literature from the U.S. since 2005
This thesis contends that YA fantasy fiction continuously evolves to adapt to its ageing readership, calls for more diversity, and a circuitous relationship between publishers, authors, and content creators which enables fans to participate in the formation of a YA canon distinct from traditional fantasy literature. The first chapter examines the creation of the YA community, exploring how it mimics the behaviours and practices of other fandoms, including gatekeeping membership through cultural capital. This chapter serves as a foundation for the chapters that follow, which each consider close-reading analysis of case study texts alongside paratextual and fan-created sources. Chapter 2 looks at the role of the female protagonist in three YA series: Leigh Bardugo’s Shadow and Bone (2012), Marie Lu’s The Young Elites (2014), and Susan Dennard’s Truthwitch (2016), acknowledging how the novels challenge pseudo-medieval models of fantasy literature through myth-making centering female protagonists. Chapter 3 explores the romanticisation of toxic masculinity in Sarah J. Maas’ popular A Court of Thorns and Roses (2015) trilogy, contending that it normalises hegemonic masculinity by comparing the protagonist’s two love interests and by drawing on fairy tales and Greek mythology. In Chapter 4, I consider how Tomi Adeyemi discusses race and the Black Lives Matter movement in America through her Nigeria-inspired novel Children of Blood and Bone (2018), arguing that she uses allegory in her narrative alongside paratextual and epitextual sources such as interviews and author’s notes in an attempt to educate readers on police brutality in the U.S. Finally, in Chapter 5, I consider how in the Shades of Magic trilogy (2015) V.E. Schwab attempts to create a fantasy setting where queer characters are able to live without fear of discrimination, and how her experiences as an LGBTQ+ author complicate this goal, creating a tension between authorial intention and reader responses

ORIGINAL ARTICLE Spatio-temporal Distribution to Phytoplankton in the Industrial Area of Calabar River, Nigeria 1
ABSTRACT Phytoplankton is an important microscopic organism that sustains majority of aquatic life forms with its primary productivity. Literature on the abundance and distributional pattern of phytoplankton in the Calabar River is not readily available. A study was carried out to examine the spatio-temporal distribution, species abundance and diversity of phytoplankton in the Calabar River. Phytoplankton samples were collected by trawling plankton net behind an engine boat across six (6) sampling stations. Result obtained showed that a total of 35 phytoplankton species and 35 taxa representing 6 families were recorded. Chlorophyceae (green algae) and Bacillariophyceae (diatom) were the most abundant phytoplankton families constituting 57.2% of total phytoplankton taxa density, the least encountered families were Cyanophyceae (blue-green algae), Chrysophyceae and Xanthophyceae with 8.6% respectively. The result showed seasonal variation in phytoplankton species, as its abundance increased in the dry season than in the wet season primarily due to the increase in photic depth as well as the reduction in input turbid materials from other tributaries of the Calabar River. The study therefore reveals pollution of the Calabar River characterized by the abundance of phytoplankton taxa
Determination of itraconazole and hydroxyitraconazole in plasma by use of liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry with on-line solid-phase extraction
In this paper a method for the simultaneous quantification of the anti-fungal drug itraconazole and its co-active metabolite hydroxyitraconazole in plasma employing liquid chromatography tandem-mass spectrometry and automated solid-phase extraction is described. The method proved rugged, enables short turn-around times and is highly specific. Since there is growing evidence for the importance of therapeutic drug monitoring of itraconazole in the prophylaxis and treatment of invasive fungal infections, the method described here is of interest for a large number of tertiary care hospital laboratories
