    Eric Davidson graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1954 and received his PhD from Rockefeller University in 1963. He remained at Rockefeller until 1971 when he moved to Caltech in Pasadena, California. He was elected to the U.S. National Academy of Sciences in 1985, and is at present Norman Chandler Professor of Cell Biology in the Division of Biology, Caltech. He is the author of 5 books and over 400 papers on developmental gene regulation and evolution of genomic programs for development. For the last decade his work has focused on theory and operation of developmental gene regulatory networks

In ihrer Beziehung zum öffentlichen Raum bleibt die Haltung der Städter von schnellen Entwicklungen geprägt und daher die Schwierigkeit für die öffentliche Hand, angemessene städtische sportliche oder Freizeiteinrichtungen vorzuschlagen. Aufgrund eines Defizits an Überlegung versuchen die Städteplanungspolitiken, die neue Sport-und Freizeitpraxis in spezifischen Orten, oft in der Peripherie, und jedenfalls ausserhalb des Stadtzentrums zu behaupten, was die Benutzer regelmässig ablehnen.Recreational use of the city and development plans. In their relationship to the public area, the city dwellers’behaviours are characterized by fast changes which make it difficult for the public authorities to propose an adapted urban development for sport and entertainment. Due to a deficit of thought, the urban development policies try to confirm the new sporting and recreational practices in specific places often situated in the outskirts and in any case out of the city centres which members regularly refuse.Dans leur rapport à l’espace public, les attitudes des citadins restent marquées par des évolutions rapides, d’où la difficulté pour les pouvoirs publics de proposer des aménagements urbains à vocations sportive et récréative adaptés.
