    Adam Pavel Slavata (1603-1657)

    No full text
In the bachelor thesis author tried to describe the life fate of the South Bohemian aristocrat Adam Pavel Slavata (1603-1657) in context to the period events at the beginning of the 17th century. Author mainly focused on different concepts of life between Adam Pavel and his father Vilém Slavata of Chlum and Košumberk (1572-1652), which came after the divorce of Adam Pavel and Marie Markéta of Eggenberg in the early 1630´s. The reverse of life was mainly reflected in Adam Pavel´s views on the ruling court in Vienna and the court career, which was essential to Vilém's life. Adam Pavel left the Imperial court permanently and settled in Nová Bystřice, where he managed over the Slavata dominion, together with the officers who worked in Jindřichův Hradec and in Telč, during the Thirty Years War. Author used the personal correspondence of Vilém Slavata from Chlum and Košumberk, which is stored in the Family Archives of the Slavata in the department of the State Archives of Třeboň in Jindřichův Hradec. Based on extensive scientific literature on nobility, written especially by Petr Maťa and Václav Bůžek, author has compiled the life story of the individual from the highest circles of the society

Title: Computer simulations of characteristics of metal desorption from the Si(111) surface Author: Adam Sikora Department: Department of Surface and Plasma Science Supervisor: RNDr. Pavel Kocán, Ph.D. Abstract: In case of desorption of some metals (Pb, In, Ga) from surfaces Si(111) and Ga(111) was by use of integral techniques surprisingly observed zero-order of desorption. Theoretical explanation of zero-order is still missing, since it appears that the conditions that normally lead to desorption of the zeroth order - high diffusivity, the existence of 2D gaseous phase etc. - can not be met. The aim of this work is to develop kinetic Monte Carlo computer code for simulations of atomic processes on the surface of Si(111). The developed code will then be used for investigation of desorption spectra for various parameters and also for finding the parameters which allow the zero-order desorption. Keywords: Kinetic Monte Carlo, temperature programmed desorption, zero-order desorption, Si(111)

Název práce: Povrchové plasmony v optických mikrostrukturách a jejich senzorové aplikace Autor: Pavel Adam Ústav: Ústav fotoniky a elektroniky AV ČR, v.v.i., Oddělení optických senzorů Vedoucí doktorské práce: doc. Ing. Ing. Jiří Homola, CSc., DSc. Abstract: This work is focused on the study of surface plasmon resonance (SPR) sensor platforms based on wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) of multiple surface plasmons (SPs). These sensors are based on advanced diffraction gratings supporting either conventional or Bragg-scattered SPs, which are simultaneously excited at different wavelengths. These SPs are studied both analytically and numerically using rigorous coupled-wave analysis and an integral approach. WDM of two and three SPs is presented and followed by the method for the analysis of the resolution, noise and cross-sensitivity. This method is employed to analyze the ability of different SPR sensor platforms (supporting WDM of two SPs) to discriminate refractive index (RI) changes in a thin layer at the sensor surface from background RI changes. The WDM SPR sensors based on advanced diffraction gratings prepared by interferometric holography are developed and tested in a model biosensing experiment consisting of the layer-by-layer growth of protein multilayers. The linear WDM of two...Matematicko-fyzikální fakultaFaculty of Mathematics and Physic

    Pavel Kukolnik and Vladimir Nazimov.

A dozen verse texts by the Vilnius censor and the figure of the Vilna Archaeological Commission Pavel Kukolnik (1795–1884) written in 1859–1871 are dedicated to the Governor-General of Vilna in 1855–1863 Vladimir Nazimov (1802–1874), his wife, daughters, pupil and two governesses. It was such an unusually generous case of dedications. To explain this, the testimonies of contemporaries and periodical press materials are used to analyze Nazimov’s activities and his relationship with the local society, Kukolnik’s relationship with Nazimov and his family and Kukolnik’s relationship with the local cultural environment. Kukolnik and Nazimov jointly participated in many official events; Kukolnik also met with Nazimov in private, since the Governor-General was open-minded and his house was a hospitable place. However, the dedication to Nazimov and his family is motivated not only by the personal qualities of the Governor-General and by the warm attitude of his home environment towards Kukolnik. Nazimov’s activities in Vilna were oriented towards a compromise and cooperation with the Lithuanian society of that time. On the other hand, Kukolnik lived in Vilna since 1825 and in the 1850s he became friends with a circle of local Polish writers and scholars (Adam Honory Kirkor, Antoni Edward Odyniec, Władysław Syrokomla and others). In his own words, Vilna became a part of him. Therefore, he evidently identified himself with the local cultural environment, shared its sympathies for Nazimov and associated certain hopes with him. The carried out research allows to draw a conclusion that Kukolnik’s poetic dedications reflected the similarity of the Governor-General’s and the poet’s attitude toward interaction and cooperation with the environment of a different language, a different faith, a different culture, and expressed the moods of the Vilna society of the late 1850s and early 1860s

In Muslim al-Naysābūrī (d. 261/875). The Skeptical Traditionalist, Pavel Pavlovitch studies the life and works of Muslim b. al-Ḥajjāj al-Naysābūrī, the author of the famous collection of traditions (ḥadīth) al-Musnad al-ṣaḥīḥ (The Sound Collection), which Sunni Muslims rank as the third most authoritative source of legal and theological norms after the Qurʾān and Muḥammad b. Ismāʿīl al-Bukhārī’s Ṣaḥīḥ. Based on multiple biographical sources and Muslim’s extant works, Pavel Pavlovitch studies hitherto unexplored aspects of Muslim’s biography, elaborates on his founding contribution to the science of ḥadīth criticism and examines the transmission history of Muslim’s Ṣaḥīḥ in unprecedented detail. The monograph includes the first systematic study of Muslim’s traditionalist theology, which played a defining role in the formation of Sunni identity.</p

Pavel Durdik spent 5 years in Aceh as a military surgeon for the Dutch troups during the war between 1878 and 1883. After returning to his native Bohemia, he wrote an account of his Sumatran experience in Czech, Pet let na Sumatra. Vypraveni vojenského lékare, 1877-1883 (Five years in Sumatra. Accounts of a military surgeon, 1877-1883), published in 1893. The book has never been translated. Here we present long extracts in French. The testimony of this witness to the conquest of Aceh by the Dutch is all the more worthy of interest as it depicts the horrific realities of the clashes Its author was free from prejudice, as he was unacquainted with the dispute. The fact that he was himself a subject of a nation still under foreign (Austrian) hegemony doubtless helped him become an admirer of the Acehnese’s courageous endeavours in their struggle for independence.Durdik Pavel, Guillot Claude, Kalus Ludvik.
