Weighted Energy Efficient Cluster Based Routing for Wireless Sensor Networks
Part 6: NetworkingInternational audienceWireless sensor network comprises of numerous tiny sensor nodes to form an ad hoc distributed sensing and data propagation network to collect the context information on the physical environment. Wireless sensor networks are used for remotely monitoring tasks and effective for data gathering in a variety of environments. Minimizing energy dissipation and maximizing network lifetime are one of the central concerns to design applications and protocols for wireless sensor networks. Cluster based architectures are one of the most practical solutions in order to cope with the requirements of large scale of sensor networks. Clustering results in a reduced number of messages that propagate through the network in order to accomplish a sensing task. In this paper, we have presented a brief review of the state of the art scenario of various routing protocols and propose a weighted energy efficient cluster based routing for wireless sensor networks. Conducted simulation experiments on different scenarios shown its ability to obtain effective & efficient communications among different clusters and achieves scalability in large scale of wireless sensor networks
Agrobacterium-mediated genetic transformation of date palm (Phoenix dactylifera L.) cultivar "Khalasah" via somatic embryogenesis
In present investigation, an efficient Agrobacterium- mediated genetic transformation was successfully carried out for a well known date palm (Phoenix dactylifera L.) cultivar “Khalasah” using matured somatic embryos. Somatic embryogenesis was initiated from offshoot’s shoot tips of date palm cultivar. For genetic transformation, morphologically advanced matured somatic embryos developed on MS medium fortified with TDZ (1.0 mg/l) were co-cultured with A. tumefaciens strain LBA 4404 harboring binary vector pBI 121, containing uidA (GUS) and npt II genes and incubated for 4 days and later it was (somatic embryos) inoculated on germinating and plantlet conversion MS medium supplemented with BAP (0.75 mg/l) + kanamycin (100 mg/l). Prolific shoots developed from putatively transformed matured embryos showed 47.5 % transformation efficiency. A large number of transgenic plants were obtained and later established in black hard plastic bags. A strong GUS activity was detected in the putatively transformed plant leaves by histochemical assay and, the integration of uidA (GUS) and npt II genes into transgenic plants was confirmed by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and Southern hybridization analysis. The established transformation protocol allows effective and quick regeneration via somatic embryogenesis, and it would be highly valuable for existing date palm orchards and improving their productivity
Computer Information Systems and Industrial Management
This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 11th International Conference on Computer Information Systems and Industrial Management, CISIM 2012, held in Venice, Italy, in September 2012. The 35 revised full papers presented together with 2 keynote talks were carefully reviewed and selected from 80 submissions. The papers are organized in topical sections on security, access control and intrusion detection; pattern recognition and image processing; biometric applications; algorithms and data management; networking; and system models and risk assessment
A 10-Year Bibliometric Study of Pakistan Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences
Purpose
This study aims to carry out a bibliometric evaluation of articles published in Pakistan Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences (PJPS) from 2006 to 2015. Bibliometric study determines publication pattern and identifies research trends in a field.
Design/Methodology/Approach
All articles published in PJPS during ten years were analysed using MS Excel.
Results
A total of 951 authors contributed 1172 articles to PJPS from 2006 to 2015. Eighty-six percent authors contributed only one article each. M. Saeed Arayne and Najma Sultana were the leading principal authors with 18 and 10 articles respectively. Ninety-seven percent articles were written by more than one author. Most of the first authors (47%) were from Pakistan followed by authors from India (11%), China (6%) and Iran (5%). The host institution (University of Karachi) and province (Sindh) are ranked first in term of the contribution. The average number of citations per article was 28.67% and the average length of the articles was 6.34 pages.
Limitations
Only principal authors (first authors) were considered for the most dynamic authors, most productive institutions, geographical distribution of contributors and origin of authors within Pakistan.
Practical implications
An awareness program is needed for the faculty/researcher belonging to less contributing area i.e. Baluchistan and Azad Jammu & Kashmir. Also signing of MoUs with foreign universities will enhance contribution from abroad.
Originality/Value
The result of this study will help in designing/planning a policy/procedure for a pharmaceutical journal and a support to understand the state of pharmaceutical research in Pakistan
Design of a Microstrip Patch Antenna for Drone Detection and Tracking
With drones rapidly proliferating, opportunities — and challenges — have arisen in the area of surveillance, logistics, and security. But, since their usage is increasing, a robust detection and tracking system is needed to mitigate any possible threat. This work studies drone detection and tracking based on microstrip patch antennas. For this application, these antennas are preferred, with their low profile, low-weight structure, and low cost. Theoretical foundation, design methodology, simulation results, and potential applications related to signal processing and system integration for improved tracking accuracy are discussed
Nasir Shehzad as a Preface Writer: ناصر شہزاد بحیثیت دیپاچہ نگار
Nasir Shehzad is a notable literary figure of the 20th century. He wrote down many books: “Kon Dais Gyo,” “Pukarti Rahee Bansi, andd "Ban Bas." He not only wrote the prefaces of his own books but also the books of his contemporaries. Nasir Shehzad creates a unique pleasure with his style of narration in the prefaces. The book and the author are introduced by him in a good manner. In these prefaces, a glimpse of his literature, ideas, and personality is also seen. He has written prefaces only on poetry genres. Along with songs, ghazals, and poems in these poetry genres, he has shed light on the tradition and narration of coffee and couplets in the form of a preface. The main purpose of the preface is to make the contents of the book clear in such a way that the person interested in the subject is drawn to read it because it makes the outline of the book clear to the reader, which makes the reader interested in the study. The prefaces of Nasir Shahzad meet this standard to a great extent. In this article, effort is made to analyze his preface writing in detail.
