Effect of Some Traditional Processing Methods on Nutritional Composition and Alkaloid Content of Lupin Bean
The sweet and bitter lupin bean were processed by traditional common processing methods soaking, cooking, fermenting and germinating techniques. The proximate, mineral and alkaloid content of unprocessed, soaked, fermented, germinated and cooked sweet as well as bitter lupin were determined. According to the results crude protein and carbohydrate were significantly highest in soaked and cooked than in fermented and germinated lupin bean. Fiber content, fat content and total ash were significantly reduced in cooked, soaked and fermented bean, but fiber and total ash significantly increased for the germinated sweet and bitter lupin. In the sweet lupin K, Zn, Fe levels were significantly reduced in soaked, fermented and cooked bean, but Na level was significantly highest in germinated, soaked and cooked except in fermented lupin bean. For the bitter lupin K level was significantly increased in soaked, cooked, fermented and germinated bean. But Ca and Na level significantly increased in cooked bean only. Fe and Zn significantly reduced in, cooked, soaked, fermented and germinated. Alkaloid content of the bean was significantly (p<0.05) reduced in soaked, cooked, fermented and germinated, but it was highly influenced by cooking and soaking methods. The results indicate that cooking and soaking enhanced the nutrient contents and drastically reduced the main anti-nutrient of lupin bean alkaloid content. Review on deep fat-fried food products safety and its implication for consumer healthiness
Edible oil is the most widely consumed food in worldwide. However, high-temperature cooking of fat results harmful compounds. This extended cooking times caused chemical and physical reactions at high temperatures. Additionally, heat-labile chemical compositions such as phenolic compounds, fatty acids, and essential amino acids gradually changed. High cooking temperatures have a real impact on the flavor quality and stability of the oil. But, applying antioxidants and inhibitors slows down the oxidation of frying oil at lower temperatures. The primary goal of this review process was to create awareness among the public and regulatory bodies about the extent to which oil based food processed at high temperatures for long time degrades food quality and endangers consumers. To address the problem of deep fat frying, the various earlier research works were well reviewed. The results of this study were thoroughly examined and concluded that cooking fat for a long period of time reduced its quality and increased the risk of non-communicable diseases. Thus, to lower the amount of free radicals in oils, frying them for a short period of time and using antioxidants. Also, it is critical to implement food quality control policies and educate community to safeguard the health of consumers
Developing Calibration Model for Prediction of Malt Barley Genotypes Quality Traits using Fourier Transform near Infrared Spectroscopy
Ethiopia is the second largest barley producer in Africa. But the quality traits are always influenced by the cultivar itself and growing environment. Thus, the study was targeted on developing calibration model for predicting malt barley quality traits of genotypes grown at different locations using near infra-red spectroscopy for selection purposes in barley breeding program. For this purpose, 60 barley samples were collected from Holeta, Debre-Birhan and Bekoji. Samples were chemically analyzed in duplicate for 5 barley traits. The calibration model was developed based on 120 samples spectral data and 60 chemistry data results using the calibration software of the FT-Near Infrared Spectroscopy. The barley Protein calibration model having (R²c= 0.97; RPD=5.7 and R2c=0.94; RPD=4.16) respectively, can be regarded as broadly applicable; Extract and Friability (R²c= 0.96; RPD=4.54 and R2c=0.95; RPD=4.36) respectively were accepted as useable with good prediction capability; whereas β-Glucan calibration model (R²c= 0.90; RPD=3.18) allowed only for screening purpose in some applications. Barley grain dry matter with model parameters result (R2c=0.86; RPD=2.69)shown usable with caution only for rough screening purposes. Hence near infrared spectroscopy is fast and cost-efficient, the breeding program can increase the intensity of variety selection using calibration models reflected good predicting performances except models for dry matter and β-glucan

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases.
