Collaboration and Connection: Intergenerational Authorship in Al Rabeeah and Yeung\u27s Homes: A Refugee Story
No full textJuvenilia scholarship typically privileges a lone child author writing without adult intervention. This essay explores questions about intergenerational authorship and juvenilia through a focus on Homes: A Refugee Story, a work of “creative non-fiction” produced through the collaboration of Abu Bakr al Rabeeah and his former teacher Winnie Yeung. Homes chronicles the experience of al Rabeeah in Syria prior to his emigration with his family to Canada as a young teen. The essay authors draw on a joint interview they conducted with al Rabeeah and Yeung, who characterized their mode of collaborating as one between the young “storyteller” and adult “writer,” and discussed how they negotiated their roles in light of questions regarding agency, privacy, ethics, and trauma. The essay concludes by suggesting that fluid definitions of child writing and child agency may be particularly important when it comes to trauma narratives

No full textPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan secara konseptual guru yang berkarakter secara Islami di era millenial. Jenis dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian pustaka (Library research). Penelitian ini menggunakan data primer adalah buku karya Al-Habib Abdullah bin Alawi Al-Haddad yaitu Adab Suluk al-Murid. Penelitian ini juga menggunakan pendekatan berparadigma diskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian mengemukakan bahwa karakter guru perspektif Al-Habib Abdullah bin Alawi Al-Haddad yaitu niat yang tulus, taubatan yang sesunggunya, menjaga dari perbuatan maksiat, beribadah meluangkan waktu kepada Allah, dzikir dan tafakur setiap saat, jauhi sifat malas, kesabaran dalam segala hal, bersedekah, dan berlaku sosial kepada manusia dan jangan dengki kepada makhluk Allah. Artikel ini menyimpulkan bahwa beberapa temuan dalam kajian kitab sebagai pandangan Al-Habib Abdullah adalah dapat diimplementasikan pada era millennial saat ini. Implikasinya bahwa perspektif Al-Habib Abdullah memberikan gambaran bahwa dunia pendidikan saat ini sangat membutuhkan karakter guru yang demikian, sehingga dalam proses pendidikan akan berdampak manfaat bagi anak didik. Penelitian ini juga dapat memberikan khazanah keilmuan bagi dunia pendidikan dan guru khususnya, juga bagi peneliti lain yang akan menggali lebih lanjut mengenai perspektif Al-Habib Abdullah dalam bidang lain

Penulis juga membahas ciri-ciri penafsiran Abdullah bin Abbas yang diriwayatkan dalam nuskhah Ali bin Abi Tholhah. Artikel ini menjelaskan riwayat hidup Abdullah bin Abbas, dan konsistensinya dalam menghimpun hadits dan Ilmu-ilmu al-Qur‟an, sehingga ia dijuluki sebagai Turjuman al-Qur‟an. Penulis juga memberikan penjelasan tentang pentingnya nuskhah Ali bin Abi Tholhah, sebagai salah satu teks terbaik yang menghimpun tafsir Abdullah bin Abbas. Secara umum tafsir Abdullah bin Abbas mencakup sebagian ayat dari 106 surat dalam al-Qur‟an, dan ada 8 surat yang tidak ditafsirkan oleh Ibnu Abbas. Hal ini diyakini karena ayat-ayat tersebut sudah bisa dipahami oleh Umat Islam pada masa itu. No full textThe thesis is anchored upon a text extracted from an important 11th / 17th century Yemeni historical work. This text deals primarily with al-Hādī ilā 'I-Haqq, the founder of the Zaydī Imamate in the Yemen that lasted well over a thousand years. AI-Hādīs imamate, of considerable significance in itself, also coincides with one of the most turbulent periods of early Yemeni mediaeval history. The- edited Arabic text, with its accompanying apparatus criticus. Is to be found at the opposite end of this volume. The Introduction considers various aspects of Imam al-Hadī’s life, religious ideas and aspirations and matters directly connected with the edited text and the work of which it forms a part. Among the most important subjects discussed are the MSS used in the production of the edited text, the problem concerning the authorship of Ghāyat al-amānī and the relationship of the latter work to Anbā' al-zaman. A short biography of al-Hādī is provided, together with a treatment of the historical background to ai-Hādīs imamate. The introduction also describes the editorial method followed with regard to the text, and certain key personal names and toponyms are dealt with there. The method employed by the author of the Ghāyat is to record the events of any one year by Itself. I have translated one year at a time and then followed it by the annotations appertaining to it. It is hoped that by means of these annotations. (some of which through necessity are quite detailed ), the text will be better understood. The numerous personages, tribal names and toponyms are considered, as well as problems concerning points of chronology and various matters of historical and religious significance. Specific comment is made upon certain interesting terms or any unusual or striking vocabulary. The thesis concludes with maps, genealogical tables and a comprehensive bibliography
