The treads of the slavery that suffered a portion of the African population during the slavers’ trade arose since the conquer of America by the Europeans, can be apparent from different views. In the background of the Caribbean Studies, those treads can extend to the Colombian Pacific, place where this paper is focused. Aida Lucía Angulo Díaz is a baby girl born in Buenaventura, the most important commercial harbour over the Colombian Pacific region, and being the author named her godmother, this fact allows her to put in an analysis the multiplicity of elements that make complex the reparation processes of the African memory of the ancestors of her goddaughter and her social environment. The text is an analysis about how much is possible the African reparation in a population with a clear evidence of African roots, where also cultural elements of the societies that have excluded them, as the catholic baptism, are strongly established in them. Being the catholic baptism a cultural practice that belongs to the European societies, the text constitutes a game between the simple and the complex, between the immediate and the long terms’ processes, between the present and the past, between the academic and the quotidian, between the own interests and the somebody’s else. That’s because this is also a text of auto reflexive kind, being the author unavoidably immerse in all that complexity that she refers in her analysis.Pregrad

The perceived public accountability among Malaysian public administrators: a validity test through confirmatory factor analysis / Aida Abdullah

    No full text
Accountability is strongly emphasised in the public sector, recognised as a list of duties implemented in meeting needs and wants of the people. In this study, public accountability examined as roles of public employees divided into internal and external accountability persists to provide the exact representation of the actual role of employees in the public sector. The dichotomy provides an unprofound sense of what responsibilities are, especially within the Malaysian public sector. As such, this study was conducted among public administrators and items analysed through confirmatory factor analysis, and a final of 13 item-measurement construct validated. The findings show that internal and external accountability recognised as routine roles, which is placed under different ministries and efforts to strengthen public administrators’ skills in the implementation of these tasks, can avoid any form of misconduct that could impair their work performance. The theoretical and methodological issues in relation to public accountability constructs are discussed in light of these findings

Retirement can be defined as the act of a person ending his/ her employment where the person needs to permanently stop his/ her work in the organization. Retirement is a life experience and a phase that all retirees face in their lifetime, after a long term of working or building careers. Most of the elderly choose to retire and enjoy their retirement lifestyle as a reward for themselves after they decide to end their career. However, the retirement experiences can be varied and differ from one person to another - the retirees would have either a leisure retirement experience or face many obstacles and negative retirement experiences. Thus, it is significant to evaluate the retirement experiences among the retirees as it is a must for all employed and self-employed persons arriving at the retirement age, and if one’s contract of service is terminated. A good retirement experience can lead to a happy lifestyle among the retirees and improve mental and health conditions among the retirees. By leading better health, the retirees can improve their connection and relationship with others as well (Palmore, Fillenbaum & George, 1984; Rohwedder & Willis, 2010). Studies have examined that there are three main significant factors for retirement experiences; financial literacy, social influence, and goal clarity (Safari, Njoka & Munkawa, 2021; Hairodin, Ismail, Shamsuddin, & Miskam, 2021; Hill & Pfund, 2021). As such the aim of the study is to examine the relationship between the mentioned factors towards retirement experiences

The article presents the problem of a decision-making process based on the method known as the analysis of interconnected decision areas (AIDA). Author described the basic assumptions of the AIDA method and the classic method of its implementation with the usage of a decision tree. Crucially, the new and innovative improvement in development of the AIDA method is connected with the replacement of the decision tree by the matrix equation to speed up the cost assessment of decision variants
