Load balancing technique using semiconductor devices / Nor Azlan Abdul Aziz

    No full text
The objective of this project is to study feasibility of developing a new method for balancing 3 phase unbalanced load with respect to the supply system using an inverter device. This report comprise of three stages : (i) computer simulation ii) hardware design and (3) experimental research. The first staqe describes the analysis of an inverter in which the schematic configuration is simulated using Saber software

Simplified drone game for initial remedial intervention for dyspraxia among kids / Mohd Sahrin Ab Satar and Azlan Abdul Aziz

    No full text
Dyspraxia, alternatively referred to as developmental coordination disorder (DCD), is an early-onset neurodevelopmental disorder. It interferes with coordination and motor (movement) abilities. A diverse array of difficulties pertaining to movement and coordination can be impacted by dyspraxia, thereby presenting obstacles to tasks such as writing, operating a bicycle, or fastening buttons. The research indicates that children diagnosed with dyspraxia consistently struggle with coordination issues, movement difficulties, and cognitive impairments. This research aims to create a simplified drone game that can be utilised by children with dyspraxia as an initial remedial intervention. Rapid Application Development (RAD) was utilised for this project because it offered a more secure and expedient development process, which was ideal for this project. This game application utilises the International Classification of Functioning, Disability, and Health (ICY-CY) framework, and the observation method is being employed to assess the game's efficacy. The result indicates that adjustments should be made to the activities in order to increase their efficacy in aiding children with dyspraxia during the remedial process. Further development could be made by incorporating a wider range of challenges and quizzes. At the end of this project a total of 72.73% of players managed to finish the game faster than at previous games and as many as 93% of research results show the effectiveness of this game in helping remedial intervention for dyspraxia among kids

Evaluation of forecast performance of COVID-19 with different time horizons / Amirul Rashid Che Samsol and Azlan Abdul Aziz

The first wave of the disease in Malaysia from 25 January to 16 February 2020 involved 22 cases. Accurate forecasting of COVID-19 case movements is crucial for the preparedness of the country’s health systems in terms of outbreak management and resource planning. The study's main goal is to generate the forecast values for COVID-19 cases in Malaysia by using forecasting models Data from the Malaysia's Ministry of Health (MOH) have been obtained from 2020 to 2022 with 1016 observations. This study aims to determine the best "win" model and produce forecast values by using Time-series Cross-Validation. Five models and three error measures have been implemented in this study. There are Naïve model, Mean Model, Single Exponential Smoothing Technique, Holt's method, and Box-Jenkins model. While the error measures used are Root Mean Square Error (RMSE), and Mean Absolute Error (MAE) and Mean Absolute Scale Error (MASE). To execute these models, RStudio software is based on R programming language 4.2.2. The results show that the best "win" model for COVID-19 cases in Malaysia is Naïve model, Single Exponential Smoothing Technique, Holt’s Method and ARIMA(0,0,0) and mean model, respectively. The finding of this study will improve Malaysians’ decisions and awareness

Overview of the main methods used to combine proteins with nanosystems: absorption, bioconjugation, and encapsulation.

    No full text
The latest development of protein engineering allows the production of proteins having desired properties and large potential markets, but the clinical advances of therapeutical proteins are still limited by their fragility. Nanotechnology could provide optimal vectors able to protect from degradation therapeutical biomolecules such as proteins, enzymes or specific polypeptides. On the other hand, some proteins can be also used as active ligands to help nanoparticles loaded with chemotherapeutic or other drugs to reach particular sites in the body. The aim of this review is to provide an overall picture of the general aspects of the most successful approaches used to combine proteins with nanosystems. This combination is mainly achieved by absorption, bioconjugation and encapsulation. Interactions of nanoparticles with biomolecules and caveats related to protein denaturation are also pointed out. A clear understanding of nanoparticle-protein interactions could make possible the design of precise and versatile hybrid nanosystems. This could further allow control of their pharmacokinetics as well as activity, and safety

Evaluation of guidelines for chemical stabilization of tropical residual soils / Asmidar Alias, Bujang B.K. Huat and Azlan Abdul Aziz

Soil stabilization has been widely used based on the effectiveness and as an alternative to substitute the lacking of suitable material on site. Past research works on stabilizing residual soil have shown various results depending on the selection and application of various additives, Guidelines and standards have been developed to assist practitioners in designing road structure by means of chemical stabilization. TRL (1993), US Army (1994), and PWD (1985) are some of the authorities that endeavor with either extensive or acceptable guide for the process. However, precedent research' works shows deficiency in applying these guidelines. Efforts were made in this paper to review these guidelines for chemical stabilization of residual soil. TRL (1993) was found to give a more simplified route in the selection of suitable binders for the soil stabilization process. TRL could also be readily adaptable to the practice in the country as the standards used (i,e. the British Standards) are commonly used for the testing of local soils
