Defense mechanisms styles of relapsing addicts in Malaysian context: a new discovery
Substance abuse disorders have long been recognized as chronic brain relapsing disease and return to drug use after undergoing treatment program is considerably expected amongst recovering addicts (National Institute of Drug Abuse, NIDA 2008Larimer, Palmer, & Marlatt, 1999). Relapse is seen as part of the recovery journey in terms of episodes rather than a signal of failure in the treatment (Abd. Halim, Rafidi, Lasimon, 2008). In Malaysia, as of December 2010, 983 cases of relapse were reported, a figure that is higher than the 774 cases in 2009 (National Anti Drugs Agency, NADA 2010). From this description, it is believed that relapse management is a crucial component in post drug treatment to achieve long term sobriety

Magnetic field shielding / Abd Halim Mohamed Isman
Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) is an unwanted disturbance. Due to this, necessaiy prevention should be taken. This report describes a study on the magnetic shielding of EMI emitted from a step down transformer. Gaussmeter with frequency range 30 to 300Hz is used to measure the strayed magnetic field. Various experimentations had been conducted in terms of shielding materials, methods and locations. From the experiments, the most suitable material that provides the best shielding effectiveness could be discovered. Results indicated that the material with high permeability value and suitable thickness is the most important factor for proper magnetic shielding
Help desk FCSIT/ Aminah Abd Halim
Help Desk FCSIT is a web-based complaint, suggestion and feedback system for Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology, University of Malaya. The aim of the system is to help the targeted users in doing and managing complaint suggestion and feedback and therefore replace the massive manual system. Help Desk FCSIt is designed to integrate the strength of the current system with new features that will provide better services to its intended user.Generally, Help Desk FCSIT has three category of target user. Help Desk FCSIT contains eight sections that are Authentication, Complaint, Personalized Information, Reply, search Statistics, Committee Maintenance and FAQ. The waterfall model approach is selected for the development of Help Desk FCSIT. This method is adopted because simple and ease of implementing. In addition, testing is performed in every stage and may go back to the previous stage to correct any errors. Through the system development life cycle, system methodology is adopted to understand the current problem situation.Careful analysis and research has been conducted to determine the feasibility of the system and what is required of it. The Help Desk FCSIT will be program using Active Server Pages Technology with JavaScript and VBScript as the scripting language and developed on Microsoft Windows XP Professional platform. The development tool is Macromedia Dreamweaver MX, whereas the web server is Microsoft Internet Information Server 5.1 with the back-end database Microsoft SQL server 200. Hence, Help Desk FCSIT is designed to be three-tier architecture provide greater overall system flexibility

Barcode reader usage: UiTM student's acceptance / Hasrulliza Abd Halim
These researches are defining the problem and identifying the acceptance of barcode reader system usage among UiTM student for PTAR borrowing books transaction. This research began with the face-to-face interview with the librarian to identify the problems of the current system. From the interview we found many weaknesses and problems occurring in the current system. In PTAR, currently they have two methods in borrowing books system; self-machine system and counter / manual system. Nowadays UiTM library has five self-machines which are at PTAR 1, PTAR2, PTAR3, FSPU and Puncak Perdana. In UiTM we have two version of self-machine system. The first version of self-machine system does not have any security section such as password or ID and the second version has password but the password is unreliable because just take of student ID. The staff revealed that the self-machine system is not effective and PTAR should have other alternative system. The recommendation is to give students the freedom to choose their own password, if want to change the system that need big cost
Quantum of damages in accident cases / Rohayah Abd. Halim
For this purpose of this Project Paper, an award of damages under Common Law is to be considered as the sum of money payable as compensation for personal injury and fatal injury arising from accident cases. In 19251 Atkin L.J.: "The law as to damages still awaits a scientific statement ...(it is) a branch of the law on which one is less guided by authority laying down definite principles than almost any other matter that one can consider." Damages are compensation in money awarded to the injured party in accident claims. When one person causes harm of any kind to another person whether it is personal injury, damage to property or financial loss the normal remedy which the law gives (if in the circumstances of the case it give right of action at all) is a right to recover, damages. Damages are simply a sum of money given as compensation for loss of harm of any kind. The law on the nature of damages has been stated from time to time in somewhat varying terms by statement judges for example by Discount Denedin in 2 Admiralty Comrs v SS Valeria said: "The true method of expression, I think is that in calculating damages you are to consider what is the pecuniary consideration which will make good to suffer, as far as money can do* so, the loss which he has suffered as the natural result of the wrong done to him.
Club Information Management System (CIMS) / Abdin Shakirin Abd Halim
Club Information Management System (CIMS) is a prototype of computerized system for faculty club management in UITMT Kuala Terengganu. The prototype serves as an alternative for clubs in UITMT Kuala Terengganu to manage club related tasks and processes. Currently, the process involved in preparing proposals for events, registratio of new club members and event participation registration are done manually and takes a lot of time to complete. The prototype was developed by following phases in the Prototype Model. Additional methodology of LUCID Framework is added in order to ensure the prototype interface satisfies the target users. An evaluation questionnaire has been prepared for users and experts to test the system functionality and usability. The highest mean is the satisfaction construct which is 4.67 (SD=0.51). As all means are between 3.8 and 4, and standard deviations (SD) are less than 1, it implies that the usability of the system is good and user responses has only small dispersion. In the future, CIMS can be enhanced to include all other types of clubs existed in UITMT Kuala Terengganu and to be used in all UITM branches
Development of instrumentation system for temperature control / Abd Halim Mokri
The “Development of Instrumentation System for Temperature Control” project is a combination of data acquisition and control methodologies to develop a system to measure and control the temperature level inside a computer case. The system is implemented through the integration of hardware and software parts. The hardware section covers the process of building a temperature sensor and an actuator. They are connected to the computer using the parallel port. Through the computer and C++ programming language, a GUI application program is created to present the temperature reading numerically and graphically, and at the same time give user the power to control the computer case’s fan to maintain the temperature level at specific point. This system is created to overcome the stability issue of the computer due to high operating temperature. It improves the cooling mechanism inside the computer case. With some modification, it can be extended to be utilizing for other purposes
