Phygital Experiences Through Immersive Live Performances : The ABBA Voyage Case

    No full text
The premiere of ABBA Voyage marked a milestone in the experience industry. In a purpose-built arena in London, the Swedish popular music group ABBA performed as holographic representations (ABBAtars) in their first concert in 40 years. This event combined hologram technology, animations, film sequences, live music, and pre-recorded vocals to create an immersive experience. In this article, ABBA Voyage forms a case study for investigating how the intersection between immersive live performances, transmedia narratives, and place unfolds. The analysis draws on interviews and observations conducted at the arena and online. Findings reveal how ABBA Voyage combines a specific site with a digitally based performance, interconnecting the web of transmedia narratives and fandom that constitutes the ABBA universe. This paper suggests the concept of 'phygital experiences' to address the significance of blending immersive experiences, transmedia narratives, fandom, and place-specific events in the expanding experience industry, contributing to the commercialization of public and semi-public spaces. © 2025 Vita e Pensiero. "Abba" revisited: merging the horizons of history and rhetoric through the new rhetoric structure for metaphors

    No full text
This study uses the “Abba” metaphor to demonstrate the New Rhetoric model of metaphor as a tool to understand Paul’s rhetorical purpose in using metaphors. By looking closely at the theme (i.e., the idea the author tries to convey) and phoros (i.e., the picture the author uses to convey the idea). From a historical perspective, the “Abba” metaphor used in Galatians 4:6 can be linked to Palestinian origins. At the time of writing of the Letter to the Galatians, “Abba” had already been ingrained firmly in the Galatian Christian community. Paul used the metaphor to attack the agitators by excluding them from the spiritual familia of Jesus. In this recipient-oriented reading, it is shown that Paul used the metaphor to exhort with great urgency those on the fringe to return to the fold. In this way it is illustrated that, by using the approach of the New Rhetoric in describing a metaphor, an interpreter can raise questions on both the understanding of the author and readers, as part of the communication process

Flora, fauna and natural habitats recorded during field observations along the Shabab 1 Pipeline (Abqaiq to Rub al Khali) and in the Shaybah Oilfield, Rub al Khali, Eastern Province, Saudi Arabia: 24 May - 1 June 2010

During the period 24 May to 1 June 2010 observations were made of the flora, fauna and habitats of two study areas in the Rub al Khali in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia. Firstly the route of an existing pipeline, known as Shabab 1, which runs from the Jafurah desert south of Abqaiq to a point 211 km west of the Shaybah oil field, a distance of 422 km. Secondly the Shaybah oilfield area (administered by Saudi ARAMCO), paying particular attention to the sites listed at paragraph 6. (See also the map at Fig. 1.) In the following paragraphs the two sites are often identified simply as Shabab and Shaybah

LES of the channel flow in a non aligned system of coordinates

    No full text
This work investigates the sensitivity of LES to a rotation of the usual stream-aligned system of coordinates in the case of channel ow at Reτ=180. In the new reference system the principal axes are not necessarily aligned with the streamwise and the spanwise directions: consequently the mean pressure gradient has two different components. Two different codes and different SGS models have been tested in order to evaluate the sensitivity of the alignment of the grid with the mean stream and the coherent wall structures
