OMPS-LP ozone profiles retrieved at the University of Bremen - IUP
This data set includes ozone profiles retrieved at the University of Bremen (IUP) from OMPS-LP observations. The retrieval range is 8.5 to 60.5 km. The format is harmonized according to ESA CCI guidelines. For detailed information about the retrieval and the data set, see "Retrieval of ozone profiles from OMPS limb scattering observations", Arosio, C. et al. (2018).Funded by University and State of Bremen, ESA CCI and Living Planet Fellowship SOLVE
Random and systematic uncertainties for OMPS-LP ozone profiles
This data set contains random and systematic uncertainties for ozone profiles retrieved at the University of Bremen from OMPS-LP observations. The uncertainties are expressed in relative values and are reported as vertical profiles (every 5 km) and as a function of latitude (5 bands, i.e., SH polar, SH mid-latitude, tropics, NH mid-latitudes, NH polar) and season. The user can associate to any OMPS-LP ozone profile the uncertainty corresponding to the appropriate latitude-season bin. The description of the uncertainties is provided in the AMT paper "Assessment of the error budget for stratospheric ozone profiles retrieved from OMPS limb scatter measurements", Arosio et al. 2022.Funding from ESA Living Planet Fellowship SOLV
Michelstaedter Carlo

Almost all of Carlo Michelstaedter’s writings were published only after his suicide, first by friends V. Arangio-Ruiz and G. Chiavacci, and more recently in many other editions that have made him one of the most read and studied Italian philosophers of the early twentieth century. His reflection is rooted in a Central European context marked by existential crises and philosophical influences ranging from Parmenides and Heraclitus to Ibsen and Nietzsche. He criticizes ‘rhetoric,’ which represents submission to selfish interests and power structures; against rhetoric, he opposes ‘benefit,’ understood as a disinterested openness to the other, and ‘persuasion’ as the subjective aspect of the one who acts for the benefit: the emotional charge that inhabits him. Exemplary figures of persuasion in Michelstaedter are not only representatives of philosophical and artistic thought but also great religious references such as the author of Ecclesiastes and Christ.

Clenbuterol-sensitive delayed outward potassium currents in a cell model of spinal and bulbar muscular atrophy
Spinal and bulbar muscular atrophy (SBMA) is a neuromuscular disease caused by polyglutamine (polyQ) expansions in the androgen receptor (AR) gene. SBMA is characterized by selective dysfunction and degeneration of motor neurons in the brainstem and spinal cord through still unclear mechanisms in which ion channel modulation might play a central role as for other neurodegenerative diseases. The beta2-adrenergic agonist clenbuterol was observed to ameliorate the SBMA phenotype in mice and patient-derived myotubes. However, the underlying molecular mechanism has yet to be clarified. Here, we unveil that ionic current alterations induced by the expression of polyQ-expanded AR in motor neuron-derived MN-1 cells are attenuated by the administration of clenbuterol. Our combined electrophysiological and pharmacological approach allowed us to reveal that clenbuterol modifies delayed outward potassium currents. Overall, we demonstrated that the protection provided by clenbuterol restores the normal function through the modulation of K(V)2-type outward potassium currents, possibly contributing to the protective effect on motor neuron toxicity in SBMA
Carlo Vallini: restless spirit between dannunzianism and crepuscolarism
The thesis project concerns a bibliographic research I conducted on the poetic career of poet, playwright and teacher Carlo Vallini, a personality who lived at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. This figure was literarily influenced by other prominent Italian figures, such as, among the main ones, Giovanni Pascoli and Gabriele D'Annunzio, wedging himself, however, also into the poetic season marked by the Crepuscolarismo movement (in particular, close ties with Guido Gozzano). Therefore, the focus of my research is on an analysis of Carlo Vallini's major works, most expressive of his personality, giving voice to an author poised between D'Annunzianism and Crepuscolarism

Antarctic ice cloud identification and properties using downwelling spectral radiance from 100 to 1400 cm-1
One year (2013) of high spectral resolution measurements of downwelling radiance in the 100–1,400 cm−1 range, taken by the Fourier Transform Spectrometer REFIR-PAD at the research station Concordia (Antarctic Plateau), is analyzed. Optically thin ice clouds are identified by means of a new identification/classification tool based on a Support Vector Machine algorithm. The use of transparent microwindow channels in the Far InfraRed (FIR) spectral region (100–667 cm−1) is shown to be of great importance in the identification and classification of cloud type. In particular, the channels between 380 and 575 cm−1 are key channels for the clear/cloud and phase identification due to their sensitivity to cloud properties; in addition, FIR channels down to 238 cm−1 are exploited for the selection of precipitating or nonprecipitating cases because of their sensitivity also to water vapor content. A subset of 26 cases of nonprecipitating ice clouds is selected based on the presence of colocated LIDAR and radiosonde data. REFIR-PAD channel in the 800–1,000 cm−1 are used to derived optical and microphysical properties for four different assumptions concerning the crystal habits. Results, showing a correlation between cloud base temperature, optical depth, and particle size distribution effective dimensions, are compared with what found in literature. Based on the retrievals, forward simulations are also run over the whole sensor spectral interval, and results are compared to data. The simulation-data residuals in the FIR are evaluated for selected “window” channels and analyzed in relation to crystal's habit assumption, cloud retrieved features, and atmospheric water vapor content
