Letter from Yosh and Irene [Kuromiya] to Michi Weglyn
A letter from Yosh and Irene [Kuromiya] asking Michi Weglyn for materials to create "a pictorial history of the life of Michi Nishiura Weglyn photos and documents" for the tribute to Michi Weglyn on February 21, 1998.These materials are from box 73 and 74 of the Frank Chin Papers. The Frank Chin Papers contain personal and professional correspondence between Frank Chin and Michi Weglyn relating to particular projects on which either author was working as well as files related to the Day of Remembrance Tribute to Michi Weglyn

Our guest for this episode is Irene Kraegel, the author of The Mindful Christian. We examine how Christian life is enhanced by mindfulness
Muscle focal vibration in healthy subjects: evaluation of the effects on upper limb motor performance measured using a robotic device
Purpose: Muscle vibration is a technique that applies a low-amplitude/high-frequency vibratory stimulus to a specific muscle using a mechanical device. The aim of this study was to evaluate, using robot-based outcomes, the effects of focal muscle vibration, at different frequencies, on the motor performance of the upper limb in healthy subjects. Methods: Forty-eight volunteer healthy subjects (age: 31 ± 8 years) were enrolled. Subjects were assigned to three different groups: the first group, in which subjects underwent muscle vibration treatment with a frequency of 100 Hz; the second group of subjects underwent the same treatment protocol, but using a frequency of vibration of 200 Hz; finally, the control group did not undergo any treatment. The robot-based evaluation session consisted of visually guided reaching task, performed in the sagittal plane. Results: Our results showed that the vibration treatment improved upper limb motor performance of healthy subjects from the baseline (T0) to 10 days after the end of the treatment (T2), but only the group treated with a frequency of 200 Hz reached statistical significance. Specifically, in this group we found an increase of the number of repetitions (T0: 51.4 ± 22.7; T2: 66.3 ± 11.8), and the smoothness of the movement, as showed by a decrease of the Normalized Jerk (T0: 10.5 ± 2.8; T2: 7.7 ± 0.5). Conclusion: The results of our study support the use of focal muscle vibration protocols in healthy subjects, to improve motor performance

A Narrative Review of the Launch and the Deployment of Telemedicine in Italy during the COVID-19 Pandemic
Telemedicine is making an important contribution to the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic and to supporting the health domain. Its use has registered initial problems with often-patchy practise. The objective of this study was to analyze the launch and deployment of telemedicine in Italy through a narrative review. The narrative review faced two points of view: (a) the first point of view revised the institutional initiatives of the Italian government developed to promote the use of telemedicine; (b) the second point of view reviewed the evolution of scientific literature in the sector, with reference to the Italian situation. In the second point of view, we applied both a standard narrative checklist and an eligibility approach. The first point of view reported an analysis of national documents aimed at promoting, through indications and recommendations, the use of telemedicine. The second point of view analyzed 39 qualified references. The analysis highlighted: (a) that initially, there was a disorientation, followed by reflections that emerged immediately after; (b) a telemedicine application not only in the traditional sectors (e.g., diabetology, cardiology, oncology, neurology) but also in new and fields never explored before; and (c) a high level of acceptance and a desire to continue in the after-pandemic future (which emerged in some studies through dedicated questionnaires). The study offers stimuli for both stakeholders and scholars to improve the use of telemedicine during the pandemic and in the future

Irene Smalls

Irene Smalls (1950- ) is an award-winning children's author. Her book "Irene Jennie and the Christmas Masquerade" describes an old holiday custom celebrated along the Cape Fear. Slaves in Wilmington, NC and plantations would dress up in costumes around Christmas and New Year's to parade from house to house. Scholars believe this tradition came with the slaves from their West African roots. The "Jonkonnu" celebration continues in Bermuda, but died out in Wilmington after the Civil War. The tradition was picked up by white youngsters who dressed up for "Koonering" in Wilmington until around World War I
