Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Get PDFThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeksripsikan pelaksanaan
bimbingan kelompok untuk meningkankan optimisme masa depan pada
pelaku penyalahgunanan narkoba di Loka Rehabilitasi BNN Kalianda
Lampung Selatan. Dalam penelitian ini terdapat 59 klien
penyalahgunaan narkoba yang menjalani rehabilitasi di Loka
Rehabilitasi BNN Kalianda Lampung Selatan. Dampak yang
ditimbulkan dari penyalahgunaan narkoba adalah dampak fisik dan
psikologisnya pun dapat terganggu karena dapat menyebabkan
kesulitan berfikir, merasa cemas, bingung, sulit dalam berkonsentrasi,
dan perasaan tidak aman lainnya. Dampak lainnya adalah hilangnya
sikap optimisme terhadap masa depan pada pelaku penyalahgunaan
narkoba.
Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian lapangan (field research)
yang bersifat deksriptif kualitatif. Metode penelitian yang digunakan
oleh penulis dalam pengambilan sampel adalah dengan menggunakan
teknik purposive sampling. Sumber data primer dalam penelitian ini
berjumlah 5 orang klien penyalahgunaan narkoba, dan 2 orang konselor
Loka Rehabilitasi BNN Kalianda Lampung Selatan. Sedangkan sumber
data sekunder dalam penelitian ini diperoleh dari dokumentasi, buku,
foto, video dan lain sebagainya. Teknik pengumpulan data yang
digunakan adalah wawancara terstruktur, kemudian observasi non
partisipan, dan dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan
adalah model analisis Jhon Creswell yang terdiri dari pengumpulan
data, reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan.
Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa pelaksanaan bimbingan
kelompok untuk meningkatkan optimisme masa depan pada pelaku
penyalahgunaan narkoba di Loka Rehabilitasi BNN Kalianda Lampung
Selatan telah dilaksanakan melalui empat tahapan, yaitu 1) Tahap
Pembentukan, yaitu menjalin keakraban dengan klien pelaku
penyalahgunaan narkoba. 2) Tahap Peralihan, yaitu klien
penyalahgunaan narkoba dialihkan untuk menyimak mengenai
penjelasan tentang bimbingan kelompok, asas-asas bimbingan
kelompok, tujuan bimbingan kelompok, dan diamati kembali mengenai
kesiapannya dalam mengikuti bimbingan kelompok untuk ke tahap
selanjutnya. 3) Tahap Pelaksanaan Kegiatan, pada tahap ini klien
diharapkan aktif dan juga menyimak mengenai materi tentang motivasi
untuk meraih masa depan agar tidak putus asa, melakukan tanya jawab
atau sharing tentang masalah yang dialaminya kepada klien lain yang
juga mengikuti bimbingan kelompok. 4) Tahap Pengakhiran, yaitu konselor membuat kesimpulan mengenai bagaimana berjalannya
bimbingan kelompok, menyusun tindakan selanjutnya, mengevaluasi
jalannya bimbingan kelompok, membuat perjanjian mengenai
pertemuan selanjutnya dan mengakhiri kegiatan bimbingan kelompok.
Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah telah berhasil dilakukan dan
mendapatkan efek yang positif bagi klien penyalahgunaan narkoba.

This research aims to describe the implementation of group
guidance to increase future optimism among drug abusers at the BNN
Kalianda Rehabilitation Center, South Lampung. In this research there
were 59 drug abuse clients undergoing rehabilitation at the BNN
Kalianda Rehabilitation Center, South Lampung. The impact of drug
abuse is that the physical and psychological impacts can also be
disturbed because it can cause difficulty thinking, feeling anxious,
confused, difficult to concentrate, and other feelings of insecurity.
Another impact is the loss of optimism about the future among drug
abusers.
This type of research is field research which is descriptive
qualitative in nature. The research method used by the author in
sampling was purposive sampling technique. The primary data sources
in this research were 5 drug abuse clients, and 2 counselors at the South
Lampung BNN Kalianda Rehabilitation Center. Meanwhile, secondary
data sources in this research were obtained from documentation,
books, photos, videos and so on. The data collection techniques used
were structured interviews, then non-participant observation and
documentation. The data analysis technique used is the John Creswell
analysis model which consists of data collection, data reduction, data
presentation, and drawing conclusions.
The results of this research show that the implementation of
group guidance to increase future optimism among drug abusers at the
BNN Kalianda Rehabilitation Center in South Lampung has been
implemented through four stages, namely 1) Formation Phase, namely
establishing familiarity with clients who abuse drugs. 2) Transition
Stage, namely the drug abuse client is transferred to listen to an
explanation of group guidance, the principles of group guidance, the
objectives of group guidance, and is again observed regarding his
readiness to follow group guidance to the next stage. 3) Activity
Implementation Stage, at this stage the client is expected to be active
and also listen to material about motivation to achieve the future so as
not to give up, do questions and answers or share about the problems
they are experiencing with other client who are also taking part in group guidance. 4) Closing Stage, namely the counselor makes a
conclusion regarding how the group guidance is going, develops
further actions, evaluates the progress of the group guidance, makes an
agreement regarding the next meeting and ends the group guidance
activity. The conclusion of this research is that it has been successfully
carried out and has had a positive effect on drug abuse client.

Get PDFWe conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more

Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
