THE REPRESENTATION OF ALISTAIR MACLEAN’S LIFE AS REFLECTED IN SOUTH BY JAVA HEAD: A BIOGRAPHICAL STUDY
No full textThis undergraduate thesis research aims to understand and inform the period of World War II experienced by the author Alistair MacLean from a military perspective rather than from a war leader. Because of this, the authors consider this research interesting because it can find the similarity and differences between the novel and Alistair MacLean.
The writer applies the biographical approach as the basic of the analysis. The method of this analysis systematically used qualitative methods in compiling this research as the techniques – library data sources, journal article, internet and all books dealing with this research, and the main textual data in South by Java Head.
The results of this analysis indicate that in the military life of the war during World War II that seemed disciplined that they made a lifelong commitment to, it turns out there are still those who consciously committed acts of violation; similarity: Japanese Cruelty, Deadly Weapons ect, differences: The Deal Punishment. But there are also some positive knowledge, especially for readers.

An Analysis Of Formulaic Structure In L. Frank Baum’s The Wonderful Wizard Of Oz
No full textThis research discusses the formula in The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by Lyman Frank Baum. The formula in this novel is done by elaborating the narrative structure in the novel including plot, character and characterization, and setting. Furthermore, this thesis is required to break down the construction of magical things in modern American culture which appears in the formula. The construction of magical things in modern American culture in the formula relates to cultural background of America. Therefore, this research uses a theory of formula written by John G. Cawelti (1976) to finish this thesis. The standardization is needed to find the narrative structure in the formula. It consists of three literary elements such as plot, character and characterization, and setting. To show the relation between formula and culture, the discussion in this thesis explores the construction of magical thing in modern American culture as the escapism of the novel. It aims to find the American cultural belief in magic represented in the novel.
This thesis is a qualitative research since the data are in the form of utterances or words. The data are divided into two types- primary and secondary data. The primary data are taken from the narration of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. The secondary data are taken from books, journals, articles, and website from internet which show the condition of magic in American culture.
As a result, the research can be concluded that The Wonderful Wizard of Oz uses the popular pattern such as adventure and mystery. The setting of the novel is constructed by adventure pattern and the setting in the Land of Oz‟s regions use the several colors to represent society feeling and mood. The unique characters are created from the adaptation of Halloween symbol. The group of hero also has unique way to defeat the villain in the story. The unique way is pictured by the

human ability which is possesed by the group of hero such as brain, heart, and courage.
The Witches and Wizard as the characters in the novel relate to the second discussion of the construction magical things in modern American culture as the relation between formula and culture. The result shows that The Wonderful Wizard of Oz mirrors the American cultural belief in magic. In modern era, the traditional belief still exists. In this case, the author still brings the traditional belief in magic presented by the minor characters. While, the superior figure presents the modern magic which is ventriloquist. Ventriloquist is still connected to the Ancient Greek belief. In the past the position of ventriloquist is a supernatural power but in modern era the position changes into the art performance. As a modern spirit, magic becomes a form of art because rationality is held in high esteem by modern subject. Through the story, Baum wants to show the spirit of modern subject in rejecting the traditional belief. Therefore, ventriloquist that is previously understood as a supernatural power is transformed as an art in modern American culture

No full textResin komposit merupakan material sewarna gigi yang mampu memenuhi harapan pasien akan estetis. Resin komposit memiliki kehalusan permukaan dan warna natural yang dihasilkan, namun resin komposit memiliki sifat penyerapan air yang dapat menyebabkan terjadinya perubahan warna resin komposit. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan perubahan warna resin komposit akibat perendaman obat kumur chlorhexidine gluconate 0,2%. Subjek penelitian berupa 27 sampel resin komposit yang dibagi menjadi 3 kelompok yaitu 9 sampel resin komposit konvensional, 9 sampel resin komposit hibrid dan 9 sampel resin komposit nanofil berbentuk diskus dengan diameter 15 mm dan tebal 2 mm. Subjek direndam dalam 20 ml obat kumur chlorhexidine gluconate 0,2% pada inkubator dengan suhu 370 C selama 24 jam, kemudian diukur dengan menggunakan alat chromameter dan dihitung berdasarkan metode CIE L*a*b*. Hasil uji Anova satu jalur menunjukkan hasil yang signifikan antara kelompok resin komposit konvensional, hibrid dan nanofil (p < 0,05) meskipun perbedaannya tidak dapat dilihat secara visual. Hasil analisis uji LSD menunjukkan adanya perbedaan yang bermakna antara tiap-tiap kelompok perlakuan. Dari penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan perubahan warna resin komposit nanofil diketahui paling tahan terhadap perubahan warna dibandingkan dengan resin komposit konvensional dan hibrid
Pengaruh Tingkat Energi Micowave Sebagai Alat Desinfeksi Terhadap Kekuatan Kompresi Dental Stone
No full textDental stone were used in dentistry for the preparation of die model for oral and maxillofacial structures and as important auxiliary materials for dental laboratory operations that are involved in the production of dental prostheses the stone has adequate compressive strength. Compressive strength that is important for hardness, facture and abrasion resistance. Die model can be sources of cross contamination that was caused by blood and saliva. Microwave is a toll that used as disinfection method. The purpose of this research was to know the influence of microwave energy level as disinfection method toward compressive strength dental stone.
A cylindrical samples dental stone with dimensions 20 mm in diameter and 40 mm in height, were divided into 4 main groups. Group 1 without disinfection, group 2 disinfection with microwave 600 watt for 7 minutes, group 3 disinfection with microwave 800 watt for 7 minutes, group 4 disinfection with microwave 1000 watt for 7 minutes. The sample were tested compressive strength by using a UTM after 24 hours after mixing.
The results mean of the highest compressive strength in the Group 2 compared to the other groups (17.59 MPa) and one way ANOVA analysis showed that there was no significant difference between them (P=0.097). Conclusion of this research was the energy level microwave has no effect against the compressive strength of dental stone, the most microwave energy level on the dental stone with right compressive strength is 600 watts
Kajian Historis Kepercayaan Danyang Telaga Rambut Monte Pada Masyarakat Desa Krisik Blitar
No full textDanyang Rambut Monte is believed to be a subtle spirit, having an important role in eliminating negativity in society. The existence of Danyang in Telaga Rambut Monte is associated with the folklore that developed in the community of Krisik Village, Blitar Regency. Folklore and those passed down from generation to generation are associated with calamity. The purpose of this study was to examine the history of Danyang in Telaga Rambut Monte in terms of the folklore that developed in the community. This research uses the historical method which is based on four main stages, namely, heuristics, criticism, interpretation, and historiography. The results showed that the history of Danyang was formed from oral tradition. Incarnated into a system of controlling social norms to form a ritual system. Meanings values Danyang ritual performed as a form of rescue (salvation) and order (cosmos) to the ecology in Telaga Hair Monte. Historically, this research is able to reveal phenomena or events based on real events regarding the folklore that developed at Telaga Rambut Monte.Danyang Rambut Monte dipercaya sebagai roh halus, memiliki peran penting dalam menghilangkan hal negatif dalam masyarakat. Keberadaan danyang di Telaga Rambut Monte dikaitkan dengan folklor yang berkembang dalam masyarakat Desa Krisik, Kabupaten Blitar. Folklor danyang diwariskan secara turun temurun berkaitan dengan malapetaka. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengkaji sejarah Danyang di Telaga Rambut Monte ditinjau dari folklor yang berkembang di masyarakat. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode sejarah yang didasarkan pada empat pokok tahapan yaitu, heruristik, kritik, interpretasi, dan historiografi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan sejarah Danyang yang terbentuk dari tradisi lisan. Menjelma menjadi sistem pengendali norma-norma sosial hingga membentuk sistem ritual. Pemaknaan nilai-nilai ritual Danyang dilakukan sebagai bentuk penyelamatan (salvation) dan keteraturan (kosmos) terhadap ekologi yang ada di Telaga Rambut Monte.
