Large Event Halls Evacuation Using an Agent-Based Modeling Approach
The paper explores the usage of agent-based modeling in the context of large event halls evacuation during music festivals and cultural events. An agent-based model is created in NetLogo 6.2.2 for better representing the human behavior when involved in such situations. A series of characteristics have been set for the agents in order to preserve their heterogeneity in terms of speed, age, locomotion impairment, familiarity with the environment, evacuating with another person, choosing the closest exit or not, selecting the closest path to the exits. An “adapted cone exit” approach has been proposed in the paper in order to facilitate the guidance of the agents in the agent-based model to the closest exit and its advantages have been proved in comparison with the classical “cone exit” approach. Different evacuation scenarios have been simulated and analyzed for better observing the capabilities of evacuation modeling in the case of evacuation emergencies. Besides the overall evacuation time, an average evacuation time has been determined for the agents based on the individual evacuation time, which can be easily connected with a risk indicator associated to each situation. Due to the visual interface offered by the agent-based model, coupled with the evacuation indicators, the proposed model can allow the identification of the main factors that may contribute to a prolonged evacuation process (e.g. overcrowding at one of the exits, not choosing the appropriate door, evacuating with a friend/parent) and the potential measures to be considered for insuring a safe evacuation proces
Pandemicfridge: Collaboration at a Distance
The Covid-19 pandemic affected all aspects of contemporary life, from how we work to how we shop, travel, and eat. Previously banal activities such as going to the grocery store became challenging and anxiety-inducing, with a new level of danger associated with leaving one’s home. To document and respond to this global experience, Jennifer Scheuer, assistant professor in printmaking at Purdue University, and I began collaborating on a series of collages titled #PandemicFridge. The project investigates the idea of care, nourishment and sustainability through the motif of the fridge, both literal and metaphorical. Our practice emerged from the pandemic and is indelibly marked by it: the new ways of working we have developed are informed by this experience as we were forced to find workarounds and new avenues to pursue our workThis article is published as Iancu, R., #PandemicFridge: Collaboration at a Distance and the title of the journal is IMPACT Printmaking Journal.; https://impact-journal-cfpr.uwe.ac.uk/index.php/impact/article/view/110/117. Contribution to the diving beetles and whirligig beetles study (Coleoptera: Dytiscoidea, Gyrinoidea)
Within the Cri§ program, the author has made an itinerant study concerning the Dytiscoidea and Gyrinoidea fauna, from the hydrographical basins of Cri§ul Alb and Crijul Negru rivers. The material sampling has been made from the following sites: Aciuja lake (quarry), Aciufa-Avram Iancu (Small pools of the T2cii (all in the dept. of Arad-western Romania - for the Cri§ul Alb river), Poiana village upstream (in the dept of Bihor) and Zerind (Arad dept. - for the Cri§ul Negru river). After the analyses of the collected material, we are established larger or more strict relationships between the different species and biotopes. Generally, we mention a relative good quality for the studied biotopes

The Role of Visual Identity in Music Perception : A Talk with Specialists on Song Likability, Perceived Quality and Emotional Reactions
Since the music industry is oversaturated, the role of branding becomes of great importance. Although of a paramount value for success, the influence of visual identity on contemporary music perception is still poorly discussed. The present paper aims to exploratory assess the role of visual elements on the way music is perceived. Sixteen semi-structured interviews with music specialist are conducted. The primary topic approached refers to the role of visual identity in terms of song likability, perceived music quality and emotional reactions. The results suggest that branding may help in the differentiation process by creating memorability and clarity on the market. However, for a valuable creative product, there must be a balance between shaping the brand identity and maintaining the artist’s authenticity
A numerical look at the erratic behaviour of drops revealed
When you mix two diff erent liquids, two things can happen. They either mix down to the molecular level (like water and alcohol),or they dont (like oil and water), and instead form minute droplets that coexist. If such a mixture is left alone, the lighter of the two liquids will eventually fl oat to the top, and the heavier liquid will sink to the bottom. During the fi nal stages of the separation process, at the interface of the two layers there is a short but intense bustle of merging droplets, as seen here in a mixture of naptha and water

We summarize the theory and phenomenology of the Color Glass Condensate reviewed previously by E. Iancu and the author in hep-ph/0303204. In addition, we discuss some of the subsequent developments in the past year both in theory and in phenomenological applications
Towards Finite-Time Consensus with Graph Convolutional Neural Networks
Atrial electrograms are often used to gain understanding on the development of atrial fibrillation (AF). Using such electrograms, cardiologists can reconstruct how the depolarization wave-front propagates across the atrium. Knowing the exact moment at which the depolarization wavefront in the tissue reaches each electrode is an important aspect of such reconstruction. A common way to determine the LAT is based on the steepest deflection (SD) of the individual electrograms. However, the SD annotates each electrogram individually and is expected to be more prone to errors compared to approaches that would employ the data from the surrounding electrodes to estimate the LAT. As electrograms from neighboring electrodes tend to have rather similar morphology up to a delay, we propose in this paper to use the cross-correlation to find the pair-wise relative delays between electrograms. Instead of only using the direct neighbors we consider the array as a graph and involve higher order neighbors as well. Using a least-squares method, the absolute LATs can then be estimated from the calculated pair-wise relative delays. Simulated and clinically recorded electrograms are used to evaluate the proposed approach. From the simulated data it follows that the proposed approach outperforms the SD approach.Multimedia Computin
