The plateau of Piazza d’Armi, directly south of the major one of Veii, to which it was connectedduring its development, was frequented permanently from the 9th to the first half of the 5th century BC. Excavations carried on by the University “Sapienza” of Rome, brought to lightnew data for its knowledge. The settlement seems to be organized from early stages around a male inhumation grave, realized inside an oval hut, dated to First Iron Age and built in the middle of the plateau. The same area was later occupied by public or sacred buildings. Until the second half of the 8th century BC, this hut was respected and surrounded by evidences referred to ritual practices and almost by another male inhumation grave. The rest of the plateau was occupied by scattered group of huts. During the half of the 7th century BC,the settlement was involved in a radical transformation, with the development of a regular urban plan, based on orthogonal roadways which delimited residential and public build

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
