The article explores the Revista del Ferrocarril Provincial de Buenos Aires as an artifact of visual culture that played a key role in the modernization of the region. Focusing on the period from 1926 to 1932 under the direction of Adolfo Travascio, it analyzes how the magazine promoted regional economic development and a new national art rooted in indigenous traditions, in alignment with the aesthetic-political movement of Americanism. This paper pays attention to the processes of increase in value of urban systems, and represents the first phase of a wider research. The processes of increase in value of urban system are the result of a supplemented set of actions directed to create the conditions so that the different components of urban system can acquire or increase their value. This research intends to arrive at the construction of a methodological path, to individualize strategies of increase in value of urban system, and at its application on a concrete case. For this reason, the research sets up a cognitive outline of the most significant national and international experiences about the increase in value of urban system, and individualizes different typologies of interventions that can increase the value and whole quality of the urban system. In the light of the carried out work, the paper presents a first result of research: the reading of the most significant experiences of the increase in value of urban ambits that already have been realized or are being carried out in Italy and Europe. This paper is articulated in an introduction to the theme and a review of some cases study

Coupled macromolecular transport and gel mechanics: Poroviscoelastic approach

Designing drug delivery devices or drug delivery protocols poses problems because they are considered to operate in a mechanically static environment. It should consider, however, transport processes in these cases occur in a mechanically dynamic environment since mechanical stimuli may strongly influence transport within soft hydrated materials. A general framework combines fluid and macromolecular transport with the mechanics of hydrated polymer gels or tissue. As an example, the model equations have been created for a spherical geometry to describe the distribution of macromolecules within the gel resulting from a constant pressure or a constant flow infusion source. The model describes the overall average profiles of the interstitial fluid pressure, velocity and solid matrix dilatation, displacement, and stress, as well as macromolecular distribution. The basic theory provides new insight into understanding the transport of macromolecules within mechanically stimulated polymeric gets and tissues and, therefore, represents a valuable tool for designing and engineering novel drug delivery systems, as well as optimization of drug delivery protocols to be used in detection and treatments

Communicating the energy: accretion properties and feedback in AGN

This thesis focuses on investigating the role of nuclear activity in SMBH-host galaxy self-regulated growth. This work is based on an extensive collection of multi-band imaging and spectroscopic data. Indeed, it is now widely accepted that AGN activity can affect different phases of the interstellar medium making mandatory a multi-wavelength approach that combines the study of emitting/absorbing gas at increasing distance from the SMBH. I have studied the relationships between nuclear properties, AGN-driven outflows, and host galaxy properties by investigating two specific cases. The first one aims at understanding if and how the huge radiative output of a hyper-luminous QSO interacts with the circum-galactic medium (CGM) of the host galaxy. The second science case regards the formation of the so-called Brightest Cluster Galaxy (BCG). BCGs are the most massive and luminous galaxies residing at the center of the relaxed, virialized and undisturbed clusters in the local Universe

Rare lymphoid malignancies of the breast: report of two cases illustrating potential diagnostic techniques.

Two cases of lymphoid malignancy involving the breast are herein presented. Both patients were admitted with a palpable breast mass. Ultrasound demonstrated hypoechoic, ill-defined lesions of the breast in both patients; mammogram also showed spiculated breast densities. Both patients underwent core biopsy, which revealed lymphomatous cells. Total-body evaluation was also performed by computed tomography and positron emission tomography/computed tomography revealing no other fluorodeoxyglucose-avid foci in the first case and supra and subdiaphragmatic disease in the second one
