Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Full text linkThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
Full text link“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Full text linkWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. No full textLa pandemia ha generato l’amplificazione di situazioni familiari già provate dai diversi e complessi vissuti derivanti da separazioni, divorzi e famiglie ricostituite: gli ultimi dati ISTAT rilevati ne mostrano un incremento esponenziale e le previsioni non sono affatto confortanti. Il presente contributo, a partire da una riflessione su quanto il particolare momento storico abbia reso ancor più visibile l’emergenza, da una parte, e le relative manifestazioni, dall’altra, dei complessi disagi relazionali, determinati dalle scissioni coniugali con tutte le possibili conseguenze sulle modalità di conduzione della genitorialità, intende porre in evidenza il significativo contributo che un percorso di mediazione familiare potrebbe offrire, al fine di una riorganizzazione sul piano relazionale-educativo di tutti i componenti coinvolti (genitori, figli, nonni, rete parentale e sociale). No full textThe new and ongoing migration flows have recently pointed towards a gradual reconsideration of concepts such as language, belonging, mobility, citizenship, contact, nation, race and identity, and have connected Italy and the United States, Africa and the Mediterranean, metropolitan cities and peripheries, diasporic, migrant and postcolonial subjects, who define their critical space through literature, music, literature and cinema by enabling a new discursive imaginary and aesthetics.
In the light of such premises, the present study is an attempt to understand why and how to train prospective primary English teachers (PPETs) in the use of transethnic children’s pictures books as new engaging pedagogical and intermedial narratives that may tell about migration, citizenship and inclusion in plural Italy, but not limited to that. Specifically, the selection and analysis of three recent children’s picture books published in English and translated into Italian will help us to reflect on the role of intersectional education of young children in many national settings, that is to assist them as they develop into productive citizens in a pluralistic society. By pursuing such a theoretical goal, we maintain the need to prepare PPTs for cross-culturally responsive teaching as an national educational priority that may give them the opportunity to develop intercultural competence through the “decolonisation of ways of knowing” (Hooks 2003: 3) and systematic self-critical inquiry

No full textIl Gruppo Siped “Pedagogia delle Relazioni Educative Familiari” ha organizzato il suo Convegno annuale presso il Dipartimento di Scienze della Formazione, Psicologia, Comunicazione dell’Università degli Studi di Bari nei giorni 3 e 4 dicembre 2021, sul tema “Famiglie, politiche sociali e prospettive pedagogiche”. Le famiglie, come richiamato dal Presidente della Repubblica Sergio Mattarella nella Giornata Internazionale delle Famiglie, sono state una delle frontiere più avanzate della resilienza contro la pandemia. La prospettiva di una famiglia come luogo di contenimento, di supporto, di manifestazione di sé e della propria storia di vita così da qualificarsi quale soggetto sociale in grado di svolgere funzione di solidarietà e reciprocità sociale volta allo sviluppo delle potenzialità di tutti i componenti nelle diverse fasi della loro vita. L’assunzione di un ruolo sociale rimanda, ancora, alla chiamata di un ruolo educativo che apre ai processi di relazione e di autonomia che rendono il minore soggetto titolare di diritti da valorizzare nella sua unicità a partire dalla ricchezza delle proprie abilità esplicitate attraverso la capacità di raccontarsi e servendosi del contesto familiare per renderle autentiche ed emotivamente connotate. I diversi e significativi contributi presenti nel volume chiamano in causa un processo di ripensamento delle politiche sociali sulla scorta degli studi pedagogici che, ponendo al centro la persona umana e i bisogni del cittadino, mirano a costruire una prospettiva di benessere basata sul principio di responsabilità. La pedagogia della/e famiglia/famiglie è chiamata ad elaborare nuove e più incisive prospettive di teoria dell’educazione che siano in grado di spostare l’attenzione verso prassi costruttive e progettuali che generino iniziative di educazione per le nuove generazioni
