SpoTV: quale immaginario infantile?
l'articolo descrive la strutturazione e i risultati di una ricerca del Dipartimento di Comunicazione e ricerca sociale, della Sapienza Università di Roma, sul rapporto fra giovani e pubblicità.The connection between TV advertising and the children imaginary is a difficult field of study because of the prejudices about it. The TV advertising, in fact, is a television genre that naturally persuades attitudes, behaviours and ways of thinking, but the advertising induction isn’t manipulation of minds and the subjects aren’t passive in front of the television messages. How di the children perceive the TV advertising message? How do these messages influence children thoughts and life? The Faculty of communication Sciences, Sapienza University of rome, realized a research about it; in the article the authors present a semiotic analysis of messages to find out goals and intentions of producers and a qualitative research about children perception through the use of focus group.

La fabrication des fromages à pâte persillée (bleus, gorgonzola, stilton...) implique l’utilisation de souches sélectionnées de P. roqueforti qui jouent un rôle prépondérant dans les qualités organoleptiques de ces produits. En outre, P. roqueforti possède un potentiel de production de métabolites secondaires tels que la roquefortine C (ROQ C), les isofumigaclavines A et B, la toxine PR et l’acide mycophénolique (AM). A l’heure actuelle, il existe des données parcellaires concernant leur cytotoxicité et leur présence dans les fromages.
L’objectif de ce travail a été une analyse quantitative de la ROQ C et de l’AM effectuée dans 76 fromages à pâte persillée issus d’une quinzaine de pays différents, par chromatographie liquid couplée à la spectrométrie de masse en tandem (LC-MS/MS)
DELEX: A DEep Learning Emotive eXperience: Investigating empathic HCI
Recent advances in Machine Learning have unveiled interesting possibilities for real-time investigating about user characteristics and expressions like, but not limited to, age, sex, body posture, emotions and moods. These new opportunities lay the foundations for new HCI tools for interactive applications that adopt user emotions as a communication channel. This paper presents an Emotion Controlled User Experience that changes according to user feelings and emotions analysed at runtime. Aiming at obtaining a preliminary evaluation of the proposed ecosystem, a controlled experiment has been performed in an engineering and software development company, where 60 people have been involved as volunteers. The subjective evaluation has been based on a standard questionnaire commonly adopted for measuring user perceived sense of immersion in Virtual Environments. The results of the controlled experiment encourage further investigations strengthen by the analysis of objective performance measurements and user physiological parameters

Inertial bioluminescence rhythms at the Capo Passero (KM3NeT-Italia) site, Central Mediterranean Sea
In the deep sea, the sense of time is dependent on geophysical fluctuations, such as internal tides and atmospheric-related inertial currents, rather than day-night rhythms. Deep-sea neutrino telescopes instrumented with light detecting Photo-Multiplier Tubes (PMT) can be used to describe the synchronization of bioluminescent activity of abyssopelagic organisms with hydrodynamic cycles. PMT readings at 8 different depths (from 3069 to 3349 m) of the NEMO Phase 2 prototype, deployed offshore Capo Passero (Sicily) at the KM3NeT-Italia site, were used to characterize rhythmic bioluminescence patterns in June 2013, in response to water mass movements. We found a significant (p < 0.05) 20.5 h periodicity in the bioluminescence signal, corresponding to inertial fluctuations. Waveform and Fourier analyses of PMT data and tower orientation were carried out to identify phases (i.e. the timing of peaks) by subdividing time series on the length of detected inertial periodicity. A phase overlap between rhythms and cycles suggests a mechanical stimulation of bioluminescence, as organisms carried by currents collide with the telescope infrastructure, resulting in the emission of light. A bathymetric shift in PMT phases indicated that organisms travelled in discontinuous deep-sea undular vortices consisting of chains of inertially pulsating mesoscale cyclones/anticyclones, which to date remain poorly known. © 2017 The Author(s)
Involvement of peripheral sensory fibers in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis: electrophysiological study of 64 cases.
We report electrophysiological findings of conduction along peripheral sensory fibers in 64 patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. Distribution of the values of action potential amplitudes and conduction velocities of peripheral afferent fibers were significantly lower than in normal age-matched controls. Sensory action potential amplitudes (SAPas) were more affected than sensory conduction velocities (SCVs). When single patients were considered, SAPas were slightly but significantly reduced in 22% of the cases (median nerve 17%, ulnar nerve 11%, and sural nerve 22%). A parallel decrease in SCVs and MCVs in 14 patients in whom the study was repeated over a period of time was also found. All these electrophysiological findings are due to progressive neuronopathy of peripheral sensory fibers. A pathogenetic mechanism is proposed
