"Író! Irodalom?
On cite :
Electron Microscopy Study of Magnetosomes in a Cultured Coccoid Magnetotactic Bacterium
Intracellular magnetite (Fe3O4) crystals produced by the magnetotactic bacterium MC-1 were analyzed by transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Strain MC-1 represents the first-reported isolation of a coccoid magnetotactic bacterium in axenic culture. The magnetosomes of this bacterium displayed a pseudo-hexagonal prismatic habit, were elongated along the crystallographic direction, and were truncated by {111}, {100} and {110} faces. The presence of {111} truncations represents a modification of the magnetosome morphology previously determined for those in other coccoid bacteria. Study of immature crystals produced by strain MC-1 showed that the crystal morphology was controlled even at early stages of development. Changes in the culture media affected both the number and shape of the bacterial magnetite crystals. Cells grown in an acetate-containing medium contained on average more crystals than those in cells grown in a sulphide-containing medium. Crystals synthesized in the acetate-grown cells tended to be less truncated than those in the sulphide-grown cells. No iron sulphide minerals, such as greigite, were observed in cells grown in the presence of sulphide

"A könyvem elé: Ha valakit az ismeretlen felfedezése hajt, önéletrajzot ír. Micsoda átláthatatlan sötét erdő, úgy hívják, személyiség. Akit a legkevésbé ismerek, holott együtt élek vele réges-rég: önmagam. Sztori, a sarokban én, miközben megy a mozi, a második világháború, fasizmus, kommunizmus, ezerkilencszázötvenhat, a fal leomlása, Cambridge, Amerika. Egy életen át haragban voltam önmagammal. Most elmesélem kibékülésünk történetét." (Ungvári Tamás) Az ember a saját önéletrajzának foglya, a sztorija az önmaga előli meneküléseké, megrendüléseké, újrafelfedezéseké. The COMPASS experiment at CERN
Abbon P, Albrecht E, Alexakhin VY, et al. The COMPASS experiment at CERN. Nucl.Instrum.Meth. A. 2007;577(3):455-518.The COMPASS experiment makes use of the CERN SPS high-intensity muon and hadron beams for the investigation of the nucleon spin structure and the spectroscopy of hadrons. One or more outgoing particles are detected in coincidence with the incoming muon or hadron. A large polarised target inside a superconducting solenoid is used for the measurements with the muon beam. Outgoing particles are detected by a two-stage, large angle and large momentum range spectrometer. The setup is built using several types of tracking detectors, according to the expected incident rate, required space resolution and the solid angle to be covered. Particle identification is achieved using a RICH counter and both hadron and electromagnetic calorimeters. The setup has been successfully operated from 2002 onwards using a muon beam. Data with a hadron beam were also collected in 2004. This article describes the main features and performances of the spectrometer in 2004; a short summary of the 2006 upgrade is also given.
