A Study of the EVA Present Value Accounting
The EVA (economic value added) present value accounting is a future income measure that discounts future EVA by a cost of capital. It has functions that estimate future managing business performance and evaluate value of companies. The characteristics of EVA present value accounting are that it is a present value accounting with earning power, its income concept is the economic income with earning power but periodic income, and it is a market oriented accounting from company valuations point of view. But relations between the discounted EVA and the MVA (market value added) are not so close because EVA is an inside measure and MVA is an outside measure. The real function of the EVA present value accounting is decision making of company activities
USING ECONOMIC VALUE ADDED (EVA) TO EXAMINE FARM BUSINESSES
The four profitability measures recommended by the Farm Financial Standards Task Force have limitations for examining wealth creation. Non-farm corporations, by contrast, have started to use Economic Value Added (EVA) to measure wealth creation. EVA has some advantages over other financial ratios because it fully accounts for the resources used on the farm and it includes both realized and unrealized capital gains in the calculation. This article examines the EVA metric for three years of farm financial data to determine if it provides additional information about wealth creation and profitability than do the other four ratios. Factors that help predict EVA are also examined.Research Methods/ Statistical Methods,

EVA – Advanced method for performance evaluation in banks
EVA (Economic Valued Added) is a modern financial measurement tool that determines if a business is earning more than its true cost of capital. Including a cost for the use of equity capital sets EVA apart from more popular measures of bank performance, such as return on assets (ROA), return on equity (ROE), net banking income and the efficiency ratio, which do not consider the cost of equity capital employed. As a result, these measures may suggest a bank is performing well, when in fact it may be diminishing its value to its shareholders. EVA is a tool that focuses on maximizing shareholder wealth. EVA is an appropriate tool for motivation system and in this way it motivates managers to think like owners; and provides a common language within the corporate culture. The EVA application in banks is relatively new (it started to be implemented in U.S. in 1994) and is not as well known as other measures of bank performance. As in the Romanian Banking system this measurement method is not familiar or used, the purpose of this study is to introduce EVA and its advantages compared to other performance indicators and based on this study to try to implement it in one of the Romanian banks.performance measures, EVA, shareholder value, banks, motivation system
