    Avoiding the global change in climate

    Nowadays, humankind extracts most of the energy it consumes from fossil fuels. Unfortunately, it entails building up the carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. People have to cut the emissions of this gas drastically to avoid the global change in the climate in few decades. One of the options they have consists in using solar energy as a primary energy source. In this case, the main difficulty consists in the large scale energy storage needed for satisfying needs in energy at night. In this work, we give an example of energy storage in polymer surface layers of a polymer matrix composite filled with magnetic microparticles. Specifically, in the recent research V. B. Demchuk argued that improvement of mechanical properties of Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) composite materials filled with ferrite microparticles reached at sufficiently high filler concentrations through influencing the formation of these microcomposites by constant magnetic fields (CMFs) occurs thanks to the fact that PVC macromolecules situated in the polymer surface layers of these microcomposites are pushed out of regions of high magnetic field intensity. His reasoning is based on integrated analysis of laboratory measurements and numerical calculations. In this paper, we present computational abstractions that allow handling the chaotic disposition of the filler particles during calculation of magnetic fields in polymer surface layers of microcomposites near phase transition points under the constraint due to limited performance of modern computers

    Factors associated with intracerebral hemorrhage after thrombolytic therapy for ischemic stroke pooled analysis of placebo data from the Stroke-Acute Ischemic NXY Treatment (SAINT) I and SAINT II trials

    <p><b>Background and Purpose:</b> A number of factors have been associated with postthrombolysis intracerebral hemorrhage, but these have varied across studies.</p> <p><b>Methods:</b> We examined patients with acute ischemic stroke treated with intravenous tissue plasminogen activator within 3 hours of symptom onset who were enrolled in the placebo arms of 2 trials (Stroke-Acute Ischemic NXY Treatment [SAINT] I and II Trials) of a putative neuroprotectant. Early CT changes were graded using the Alberta Stroke Program Early CT Score (ASPECTS). Post–tissue plasminogen activator symptomatic intracerebral hemorrhage was defined as a worsening in National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale of ≥4 points within 36 hours with evidence of hemorrhage on follow-up neuroimaging. Good clinical outcome was defined as a modified Rankin scale of 0 to 2 at 90 days.</p> <p><b>Results:</b> Symptomatic intracerebral hemorrhage occurred in 5.6% of 965 patients treated with tissue plasminogen activator. In multivariable analysis, symptomatic intracerebral hemorrhage was increased with baseline antiplatelet use (single antiplatelet: OR, 2.04, 95% CI, 1.07 to 3.87, P=0.03; double antiplatelet: OR, 9.29, 3.28 to 26.32, P<0.001), higher National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale score (OR, 1.09 per point, 1.03 to 1.15, P=0.002), and CT changes defined by ASPECTS (ASPECTS 8 to 9: OR, 2.26, 0.63 to 8.10, P=0.21; ASPECTS ≤7: OR, 5.63, 1.66 to 19.10, P=0.006). Higher National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale was associated with decreased odds of good clinical outcome (OR, 0.82 per point, 0.79 to 0.85, P<0.001). There was no relationship between baseline antiplatelet use or CT changes and clinical outcome.</p> <p><b>Conclusions:</b> Along with higher National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale and extensive early CT changes, baseline antiplatelet use (particularly double antiplatelet therapy) was associated with an increased risk of post–tissue plasminogen activator symptomatic intracerebral hemorrhage. Of these factors, only National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale was associated with clinical outcome.</p&gt

    The statement of problem of choosing of typhlocommentator is considered in this article, the description of the subject among the number of possible typhlocommentator. The mathematic model of such a task is given and an approach of solving it has been worked out. When researching the problem of access of weak-sight people to the video content, it is required to understand that more than a most part of the information is provided to the viewer in the form of an image. Yes, blind people hear all words of actors, sounds of the environment, processes at the screen, but it is difficult for them to identify the person to whom the specific words belong, what happens with heroes at the very specific moment, what is depicted in the given scene, it is difficult for them to understand reaction of actors, which the latter often express with the help of movements or mimics. Typhlocomments to video content for blind people and people with weak-sight are one of the real steps towards solution of the problem of limitation of access to such content

    Paskapoo Formation strata in the central Alberta Plains can be divided into three members based on the subsurface and outcrop investigation of these strata in the Red Deer-Lacombe and Obed-Marsh areas. These sections are hereby designated pricipal reference sections for this formation, and contain the type-sections for the newly proposed Haynes and Lacombe members. These principal reference sections allow for the placement of isolated outcrops of Paskapoo Formation strata, along the Red Deer River valley and its tributaries (the type-section of the Paskapoo) into their proper stratigraphic position. -from Author
