Demoulin surfaces in the real projective 3-space are investigated. Our result enables us to establish a generalized Weierstrass type representation for definite Demoulin surfaces by virtue of primitive maps into a certain semi-Riemannian 6-symmetric space

    Get PDF
Cílem této diplomové práce je vytvořit překlad vybraných kapitol románové prvotiny belgického autora Laurenta Demoulina nazvané Robinson a doplnit jej o studii, v níž okomentuje problematiku překladu daného uměleckého textu a popíše snahu o prosazení titulu k vydání u českého nakladatele. V první části bude předloha představena - diplomantka uvede základní údaje o autorovi, titulu a nakladateli, shrne kritické ohlasy a provede analýzu stylové roviny textu. Druhá část práce představuje samotný překlad vybraných kapitol románu. Třetí část práce se bude věnovat tomuto překladu: diplomantka okomentuje komplikované pasáže, zvolenou překladatelskou metodu a závěrem shrne přínos redakčního čtení. Klíčová slova: belgická literatura, český knižní trh, Laurent Demoulin, literární překlad, autismusThe aim of this thesis is to create a translation of selected chapters of the first novel by the Belgian author Laurent Demoulin called Robinson and to complement it with a study commenting on the problems of translation of the given text and describing the efforts to promote this novel for publication by a Czech publisher. In the first part of the thesis, the graduate will introduce the text - she will give basic information about the author, the title and the publisher, summarize critical responses and analyze the stylistic level of the text. The second part of the thesis presents the actual translation of selected chapters of the novel. The third part of the thesis will be devoted to this translation: the graduate will comment on the complicated passages, the chosen translation method and finally summarize the contribution of the editorial reading. On the combinatorics of Demoulin transforms and (discrete) projective minimal surfaces

The classical Demoulin transformation is examined in the context of discrete differential geometry. We show that iterative application of the Demoulin transformation to a seed projective minimal surface generates a Z 2 lattice of projective minimal surfaces. Known and novel geometric properties of these Demoulin lattices are discussed and used to motivate the notion of lattice Lie quadrics and associated discrete envelopes and the definition of the class of discrete projective minimal and Q-surfaces (PMQ-surfaces). We demonstrate that the even and odd Demoulin sublattices encode a two-parameter family of pairs of discrete PMQ-surfaces with the property that one discrete PMQ-surface constitute an envelope of the lattice Lie quadrics associated with the other

Lestagella Demoulin, 1970 Lestagella Demoulin 1970: 130, Figure 15 (a–r); McCafferty & Wang 1997: 403–405, Figures 7, 16, 25, 34, 43, 52, 61, 68, 72, 86. Type species: Lithogloea penicillata by original designation Diagnosis. Nymph. Lestagella nymphs can be distinguished from other Teloganodidae by the following combination of characters: a well-developed marginal fringe of setae on the head (Fig. 2 c–e), spatulate setae on margin of prothorax, simple filamentous gills present on abdominal segment I, lamellate gills on segments II–IV with fully operculate gill on segment II, tibia lined with a single row of setae on the antero-dorsal surface, tarsal claw with well-developed subapical denticle, other denticles small. Abdominal segments with moderately developed posterolateral processes that are slightly separated from the base of the following segment, three caudal filaments with lateral, hair-like setae and a subequal median caudal filament. Imago. Lestagella adults can be distinguished from other Teloganodidae by the combination of the following characters: three caudal filaments, forewings with a relatively short, detached iMP and the presence of gill socket vestiges on abdominal segments II–IV.Published as part of Pereira-Da-Conceicoa, Lyndall L. & Barber-James, Helen M., 2013, Redescription and lectotype designation of the endemic South African mayfly Lestagella penicillata (Barnard, 1932) (Ephemeroptera: Teloganodidae), pp. 450-464 in Zootaxa 3750 (5) on page 452, DOI: 10.11646/zootaxa.3750.5.2, http://zenodo.org/record/22078

Leentvaaria palpalis Demoulin Demoulin, 1966: 14; Domínguez et al., 2001: 314. Material. Venezuela, Edo Bolívar, Kamá river 5º 25’ 11’’N – 61º 13’ 05’’W, 1035 m, 20/ III /2006, 1 nymph. Yuruaní river, 5º 05’ 32’’N – 61º 05’ 47’’W, 880 m, 25/XI/2005, 1 nymph. Parupa river, 5º 40’ 49’’N – 61º 32’ 39’’W, 1281 m, 19/ III /2006, 4 nymphs. Collectors: MEG, EG and AMO. Specimens were deposited at the MLBV (Venezuela) and IBN (Argentina). Discussion. This species was described only from nymphs, that are very unusual and easy to recognize for the very long labial palpi, which also present a basal prominence on segment I. Apparently, due to the scarce number of nymphs collected, this species is not very common in the region. This is the first time it is collected in Venezuela. Distribution. Surinam, Brazil, Venezuela (new country record). Ecology. Nymphs were collected from the submerged substrates within the rivers during the rainy (November 2005) and dry (March 2006) seasons. Rivers were large water courses (30 m – 70 m wide), non-shaded, with bottom of rocks and gravels and acidic waters (pH=5).Published as part of Domínguez, Eduardo, Grillet, Maria-Eugenia, Nieto, Carolina, Molineri, Carlos & Guerrero, Edmundo, 2014, Ephemeroptera from the Venezuelan Guayanas´s Uplands: Families Leptophlebiidae, Euthyplociidae and Oligoneuriidae, pp. 301-317 in Zootaxa 3827 (3) on page 306, DOI: 10.11646/zootaxa.3827.3.1, http://zenodo.org/record/492066
