How intensive/prolonged should an intensive/prolonged treatment be?
No full textBackground: The issue of efficacy of aphasia therapy has long been debated and there is now convincing evidence that treatment is effective. More focused questions on aphasia therapy have also been addressed, although less frequently. This paper reviews the literature on the effect of intensity and duration of treatment. Aims: Data in the literature on intensity and duration of treatment are reviewed. Main contribution: Positive and negative studies on treated and untreated patients are reconsidered and the length of treatments in the two groups is compared. Studies directly tackling the question of intensity/duration of therapy are briefly reported as well as the results of a meta-analysis. Improvement in three pairs of matched subjects, all treated for very long periods of time but with different intensity, is compared. Conclusions: Results clearly indicate that the number of therapy sessions is an important factor in recovery. Results of the meta-analysis support this conclusion. There are also indications that when therapy is protracted for many months or even years with a very strict regimen (2-4 hours daily), aphasic subjects show clear improvement in their daily use of language and communicative competence

No full textIl progetto riguarda lo studio, sviluppo e applicazione di tecnologie abilitanti, per la messa a punto di motori a pistoni per aviazione generale (GA) e per velivoli senza piloti a bordo (UAV), a basso impatto ambientale ed elevata autonomia.
In particolare, l???obiettivo finale perseguito attraverso il presente programma di R&S può essere individuato ??? sotto il profilo del risultato atteso dai soggetti proponenti ??? nel significativo aumento delle prestazioni di un motore baseline in termini principalmente di efficienza e di consumi specifici con drastica diminuzione delle emissioni inquinanti e di sostanze clima-alteranti.
Il progetto prevede, a valle della ricerca e sperimentazione, l???integrazione delle tecnologie abilitanti individuate attraverso lo studio e messa a punto di materiali avanzati, in un focus tecnologico costituito da un motore a pistoni a ciclo Diesel, due tempi common rail, a corrente unidirezionale, alimentabile sia da gasolio per autotrazione sia da kerosene per uso aeronautico.
Attraverso lo svolgimento delle attività di R&S indicate negli OR descritti di seguito, i soggetti Attuatori della presente iniziativa, mirano al raggiungimento dei seguenti risultati:

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Full text linkThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Variations on the Author
Full text link“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
