No full textThis introductory chapter depicts the goals, structure and contents of the edited book Beyond the 2026 Winter Olympic Games: Sustainable Scenarios for the Valtellina Mountain Region. On the one hand, it frames the research project which it derives from, by defining the aims and describing the program of the 2022 workshop organised by the PhD in Urban Planning Design and Policy at the Politecnico di Milano, Dipartimento di Architettura e Studi Urbani (DAStU). On the other hand, it explains the reasons for the selection of the territorial and thematic focuses, that is, the Valtellina mountain region, and its socio-economic and spatial disparities, as one of the four clusters of the Winter Olympics of Milan-Cortina 2026 in the Italian Alps. Accordingly, the chapter introduces the research methodology and questions, which are multidisciplinary and trans-scalar, at the crossing point between the potentials and risks of sports mega-events, the socio-economic and landscape fragilities of remote mountain regions, and their spatial inequalities

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Full text linkThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

No full textIl volume presenta gli esiti delle attività di ricerca svolte dal Dipartimento
di Architettura e Studi Urbani (DAStU) del Politecnico di Milano a supporto
del processo di elaborazione di dispositivi per l’indagine e la pianificazione
del paesaggio in Lombardia. Un percorso di ricerca che sperimenta una sfida
originale e ambiziosa: affiancare ad approcci analitici intrepretativi condotti con
gli strumenti dell’urbanistica e dell’analisi paesaggistica un’ampia e puntuale
campagna fotografica del territorio regionale. Le indagini sono indirizzate a
riconoscere e individuare le fragilità più radicate e pervasive del paesaggio, esito
delle modificazioni antropiche dello sviluppo novecentesco e contemporaneo,
sia nei suoi interventi trasformativi sia nelle dinamiche dell’abbandono.
A partire da un’analisi di ciò che la fotografia ha rappresentato nel Paese in
termini di conoscenza e restituzione di un patrimonio da condividere e tutelare,
il progetto fotografico mette a fuoco i fenomeni di dismissione e sottoutilizzo: di
insediamenti e terreni, di luoghi dell’abitare e della produzione, di infrastrutture
e impianti tecnologici. Immagini che documentano e forniscono una
comprensione ampia e complessa del degrado e dello stato di sofferenza di
un paesaggio sul quale vengono condotti interventi, alla piccola e alla grande
scala, basati su una insufficiente conoscenza delle stratificazioni dei luoghi,
delle loro relazioni e identità e delle conseguenze future delle scelte attuali.
Una consapevolezza di quei valori e di quelle fragilità del paesaggio che questo
volume intende mostrare e riconoscere
