Summary Mostly Will Roger`s phenomenon means existence of so-called "jumping" or "jumping over the stages" regional metastases in the stomach cancer patients. N1 in the 6th edition means 16 regional lymph nodes involvement, while the N1 seventh edition – only 1-2 of regional lymph nodes involvement. This means that T1N1Mo \ 6th and T1N1Mo \ 7th - not quite the same, and the survival of the two groups will be different. The study, made on the abdominal oncosurgical department of Odessa Regional Oncology Center, included 188 patients operated for gastric cancer in the period 2007-2011. The study included only radically treated patients. Comparison of survival in patients with gastric cancer between 6th revision groups of 7th has been reviewed. The classification mission is to provide differences in the survival rates between the groups. Regression multivariate Cox analysis showed that 7th UICC classification showed different capability of stratifying survival groups of UICC N classification (P \ 0.01). URI Disambiguation in the Context of Linked Data

    No full text
The Linked Data initiative has given rise to an increasing number of RDF datasets, many of which are freely accessible online. These resources often arise as a result of database exports; however sufficient consideration may not be given to the unseen implications caused when they are used in the wider context of the Semantic Web. This paper investigates two popular resources, DBLP and DBpedia, and discusses whether the issues regarding identity management and co-reference resolution have been suitably addressed. We find that a large percentage of authors in DBLP have been conflated, and that disambiguation pages have been incorrectly linked using owl:sameAs within DBpedia. Systems for dealing with these issues are presented, and directions are given for future research

M.2 Odessa National Medical University1, Ukraine; KNP "Odessa Regional Center for Oncology"2, Ukraine [email protected] Summary The aim: to study the effect of cell phenotype of gastric tumors on the survival of patients treated according to standard protocols. Object and methods of research. The work presents the results of a clinical study conducted on the basis of two medical institutions - the National Cancer Institute and the abdominal oncology surgery department of the Odessa Regional Oncology Center. 221 patients underwent surgery for gastric cancer (MS) from 2007 to 2013. The mean age of patients was 60.88 ± 10.5 years, men - 180, women - 41. All patients underwent surgery, performed 143 gastrectomies and 78 distal subtotal resections of the stomach. Results. All patients included in the study were radically operated. Tumors removed during surgery were examined using histological, cytological, immunohistochemical methods and genetic tests. The obtained research results are monitored for the presence / absence of clinical parallels and mathematical correlations between them. It is concluded that some combinations of immunohistochemical (IHC) markers are effective in separating groups of patients with different biology of gastric cancer. Survival of groups of patients was analyzed on the basis of analysis of molecular markers VEGFR, p53, Her2, Ki-67 and standard histological parameters (stage, degree of differentiation, etc.). The results obtained taking into account the survival and life expectancy in this category of patients allowed us to assess the feasibility and effectiveness of our proposed classification. Conclusions. More advanced surgeries, including D2 lymph dissection, were more effective in microsatellite-unstable and Epstein-Barr virus-associated gastric cancer. Key words: gastric cancer, oncoproteins, immunohistochemical study, new classification

In certain clustering tasks it is possible to obtain limited supervision in the form of pairwise constraints, i.e., pairs of instances labeled as belonging to same or different clusters. The resulting problem is known as semi-supervised clustering, an instance of semi-supervised learning stemming from a traditional unsupervised learning setting. Several algorithms exist for enhancing clustering quality by using supervision in the form of constraints. These algorithms typically utilize the pairwise constraints to either modify the clustering objective function or to learn the clustering distortion measure. This chapter describes an approach that employs Hidden Markov Random Fields (HMRFs) as a probabilistic generative model for semi-supervised clustering, thereby providing a principled framework for incorporating constraint-based supervision into prototype-based clustering. The HMRF-based model allows the use of a broad range of clustering distortion measures, including Bregman divergences (e.g., squared Euclidean distance, KL divergence) and directional distance measures (e.g., cosine distance), making it applicable to a number of domains. The model leads to the HMRF-KMeans algorithm which minimizes an objective function derive

They analyzed the survival rate in this group of patients based on the analysis of molecular markers VEGFR, p53, Her2, Ki-67. Measured role in the survival such factors as the degree of differentiation of primary gastric tumors, the presence of microscopic tumor involvement of perineural and perivascular spaces, the degree of invasion to gastric wall by T1 = 1 and to T4a = 4, T4b = 5, number of regional lymph nodes affected by metastasis, and other factors. As an arbitrator used survival curves calculated by the method of R. J. Cox, time of lifespan, measured in months, as well as a comparison of the areas under the curves of survival. V.Merlich2, D. V. Raziborsky2, I. V.Shilin2                                     Odessa National Medical University1, Odessa, Ukraine Odessa Regional Oncological Dispansery2, Odessa, Ukraine   Abstract Over a period of 2007-2011 188 stomach cancer (SC) patients have been included in the research in abdominal oncosurgical department of Odessa regional oncological dispensary. It was retrospective, one-center, nonrandomized research. Volume of lymph node dissections differed by quantity of lymph nodes to be removed. All patients were divided into three groups. Patients with D1 or D1+ lymph node dissections have been performed, totally 90 patients are included in group of historical control. The main group includes 33 patients to whom D3 lymph node dissections is executed and, finally, control group – 65 patients dissected up to the D2 volume. In all cases so-called lymph node dissections for principal reasons have been executed. The multifactorial analysis of patients survival is implemented depending on a type of a lymph node dissections, a stage of the cancer, number of involved lymph nodes, involvement of the tumoral microcirculatory net (ly is carried out, v) signs of a perinevral invasion (Nev), availability of residual tumoral tissue (R), degree of a differentiation (G). Regardless of a disease stage, SC at 60% of patients, represented with initially hematologicaly disseminated disease. 40% of SC`s had no signs of intratumoral microcirculatory net involvement even in case of more than 15 regional lymph nodes are involved.  In the absence of a SC perinevral invasion appeared to be the most precise predictive marker.  The conclusion is made some brand new additional prognostic factors could play a crucial role in more accurate patients selection for expanded lymph node dissections. Combined Optical And Electrical Analysis of AlGaN-Based Deep-UV LEDs Reliability

    No full text
This paper describes an analysis of the reliability of AlGaN-based deep-UV Light-Emitting Diodes (LEDs) emitting in the range 280- 340 nm. LEDs have been aged at their nominal operating current, and during treatment their electrical and optical characteristics have been continuously monitored. Measurement results show that (i) constant current stress can induce degradation of the optical power emitted by the devices; (ii) degradation is more prominent at low measuring current level, thus suggesting that efficiency decrease is related to the generation of non-radiative paths; (iii) degradation does not imply a significant variation of the operating voltage of the devices, thus indicating that the characteristics of the ohmic contacts are stable over stress time; (iv) optical power decrease takes place together with modifications of the C-V apparent charge profiles, indicating that the generation of non-radiative paths is related to charge instabilities in the QW region

Coronal holes and the solar polar field reversal

    No full text
The relationship between the solar polar magnetic field reversal and coronal hole evolution is investigated for the time interval from 1996 to 2001. The distribution of coronal holes shows some evolutionary changes in relation to the polarity reversals, and these changes appear to be coordinated with changes in the global magnetic field structure, suggesting that the polar reversal originates from global processes. There are periods when the character of the coronal hole distribution on the solar disk changes significantly, indicating that the magnetic field structure changes. These can be interpreted as periods of rearrangement of the multipole magnetic field structure. It is found that the evolution of the geometric structure of the photospheric magnetic field during these periods is not characterized by a continuous transition from one dominant structure to another, but by relatively sudden rearrangement of the dominant geometrical structure of the magnetic field. These coronal holes and photospheric magnetic field rearrangements coincide with the polar photospheric magnetic field strength variations. The minimum phase of the solar cycle is dominated by the dipole component of the global solar magnetic field. The zonal magnetic field structure and zonal non-polar coronal hole distribution existed at that time. The sectorial magnetic field structure appears when the polar field strength reaches 0.7 of its maximum value in the corresponding hemisphere. This structure was established at different times in each hemisphere. In the north hemisphere it has existed since November 1998 and in the south hemisphere it has existed since October 1997. The rearrangement from one configuration to another occurs during a short time period, about 1÷21\div2 solar rotations. The coronal hole number and area evolution indicates a redistribution of positive-polarity and negative-polarity photospheric magnetic fields inside these longitudinal sectors, which reflects the solar polar field reversal
