Observation on PI (&#928) based dimensions of the erythrocyte
No full textThis paper reports data, which suggests that the relative dimensions of the blood erythrocyte appear to be approximate powers of the number pi (Π = 3.14). The estimated dimensions are: center thickness = 0.81μm; rim thickness = 2.58μm; diameter = 7.82μm; circumference = 24.57μm. These yielded simple ratios of: 1.00: 3.19: 9.65: 30.33 and constitute a suggested sequence of the approximate powers of pi (Π), (Π)0:(Π)1:(Π)2:(Π)3. This result suggests that the ‘Ideal Erythrocyte' has relative dimensions based on the powers of pi (Π). A mathematical sequence and series based on pi (Π) is intimated. The result, also, suggests possible applications in medical diagnosis, such as in sickle cell or spherocytosis, and other scientific studies involving structures with biconcave discoid or spheroid shapes, similar to the red blood cell. . A new <SUP>2</SUP>Π-X<SUP>2</SUP>Π band system of NS
No full textVibrational and rotational analysis of some bands forming a new band system of NS is given. It is also shown that the system involves the ground X2Π reg. state of the molecule, and is due to the transition 2 Πreg.→X2Πreg. The bands form a single v"=0 progression with v'=7, 8, 9 and 10. The assignment of these quantum numbers v', v" is supported by (1) Δ2F" (J) values which are identical with those for the v"=0 bands of the β and γ systems and (2) the isotopic shift data from 15NS bands, respectively
