Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
No full textThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

No full textRodzaj śmierci odgrywał w społeczeństwie średniowiecznym bardzo ważną rolę. Wprowadzał
on podział na tych, którzy umarli we właściwy, godny sposób (zgodny z normami
społecznymi i religijnymi) - przekładało się to bezpośrednio na zapewnienie życia
wiecznego po śmierci - oraz na tych, którzy umarli w niewłaściwy sposób (sprzeczny
z normami społecznymi i religijnymi) - co wiązało się z potępieniem po śmierci. Polskie
średniowieczne źródła narracyjne: kronika Galla Anonima, Wincentego Kadłubka,
Janka z Czarnkowa i Jana Długosza oraz „Kronika Oliwska” przedstawiają przykłady
najbardziej negatywnie nacechowanych przypadków śmierci, które w opinii polskiego
społeczeństwa średniowiecznego wzbudzały największy lęk, a także były uważane za
najbardziej niewłaściwe i niepożądane. Były nimi zgony w wyniku otrucia, na skutek ingerencji
sił nadprzyrodzonych i zwierząt oraz szczególnie ostro potępiane samobójstwo
- te trzy najliczniej reprezentowane opisy niepożądanych zgonów pozwalają zaobserwować
zjawisko „złej śmierci”. Ich negatywne postrzeganie, poza źródłami narracyjnymi,
znajduje także odzwierciedlenie w bogatej ikonografii średniowiecznej. Ukazanie
„złej śmierci” w kulturze średniowiecznej pełniło z założenia rolę dydaktyczną i miało
na celu przedstawienie zazwyczaj pod postacią antyprzykładu, bardzo dobrze znanej
i rozpropagowanej przez chrześcijaństwo wyidealizowanej „sztuki dobrego umierania”

Variations on the Author
No full text“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Wiedza pielęgniarek neonatologicznych na temat „Programu wczesnej stymulacji i opieki rozwojowej noworodka”
No full textBackground. “Newborn program of early stimulation and development care” has many advices that
are useful for easier work with a premature. The program shows the ways of care, and conditions that
must be done for comfort of little patient and for achievement of the highest level of development
despite its health problem and hospitalization.
Aim. The objective of the research was to evaluate nurses’ knowledge about “newborn program of
early stimulation and development care”
Material and methods. The research was in 2006, with 30 nurses who worked in 2 Neonatal Units. The
questionnaire elaborated by authors was used in the research.
Results and conclusions. Neonatal nurses have sufficient knowledge about “newborn program of early stimulation
and development care”. They know main rules of program, what are: „artificial nights”, „baby nests”, „kangaroo
care”, how to do nursing procedures at children, how to touch them, what are the reasons of children’s deafness.
Besides nurses know that is necessary to eliminate bad impulses, they know that the program after few modifications
can be used with all children. Unfortunately there are some lacking of nurses’ knowledge.Wstęp. „Program wczesnej stymulacji i opieki rozwojowej noworodka” zawiera wiele wskazówek mających
na celu ułatwienie pracy z wcześniakiem. Program ten przedstawia sposoby pielęgnowania
i opisuje warunki, które należy spełnić, aby wcześniak czuł się komfortowo i osiągnął jak najwyższy
stopień rozwoju, mimo choroby i hospitalizacji.
Cel pracy. Celem badań była ocena wiedzy pielęgniarek na temat „Programu wczesnej stymulacji
i opieki rozwojowej”.
Materiał i metody. Badania przeprowadzono w 2006 roku. Uczestniczyło w nich 30 pielęgniarek zatrudnionych
na dwóch oddziałach neonatologii. W badaniach wykorzystano kwestionariusz ankiety
własnego autorstwa.
Wyniki i wnioski. Pielęgniarki neonatologiczne mają wystarczającą wiedzę na temat „Programu wczesnej
stymulacji i opieki rozwojowej”. Wiedzą, na czym polega program, co to są „sztuczne noce”, „gniazdka”,
„kangurowanie”, w jaki sposób wykonuje się zabiegi u dzieci, jak je należy dotykać, jakie są przyczyny
zaburzeń słuchu u dzieci. Ponadto pielęgniarki wiedzą, jak ważne jest eliminowanie niekorzystnych
bodźców. Są świadome, że program ten po pewnych modyfikacjach można stosować u wszystkich
dzieci
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
No full textWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature.
