    Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

    Ciecze dielektryczne na bazie estrów syntetycznych stosowane są w układach izolacyjnych transformatorów elektroenergetycznych. W artykule zaprezentowano wyniki badań wybranych właściwości fizycznych i elektrycznych estru syntetycznego Midel 7131®. Przedstawiono wyniki lepkości kinematycznej, gęstości, a także współczynnika strat dielektrycznych tgδ, przenikalności elektrycznej względnej oraz konduktywności w szerokim przedziale temperatur. Do badania lepkości wykorzystano lepkościomierz Ubbelohdego z automatycznym systemem pomiaru czasu wypływu iVisc firmy Lauda. Do pomiaru gęstości wykorzystano zestaw areometrów. W celu zapewnienia stabilnych warunków temperatury użyto łaźni wodnej z termostatem firmy Lauda. Dla uzyskania temperatur niższych od temperatury otoczenia wykorzystano chłodziarkę sprężarkową. Pomiary współczynnika strat dielektrycznych tgδ, przenikalności elektrycznej względnej oraz rezystywności wykonano za pomocą urządzenia BAUR DTL C z termostatowaną celą pomiarową. W pracy zamieszczono ponadto wyniki pomiarów prądu elektryzacji strumieniowej cieczy Midel 7131®, które uzyskano w układzie przepływowym z rurką pomiarową.Dielectric fluids based on synthetic esters are use in transformer insulating system. The article was presented selected physical and electrical properties of Midel 7131®. In this paper kinematic viscosity, density, dielectric dissipation factor tgδ, relative permittivity and conductivity in wide temperatures are shown. Kinematic viscosity measurements were performed using Ubbelohde viscometer with automatic time of outflow measuring iVisc Lauda. Density measurements were performed using set of areometers. To ensure constant temperature conditions of measurement water bath with thermostat Lauda were used. For the temperature lower than ambient temperature compressor cooler were used. Dielectric dissipation factor tg δ, relative permittivity and resistivity measurements were performed using measuring device BAUR DLT C with thermostatic test cell. The article is additionally included the results of streaming charging electrification current of Midel 7131® fluid, which were collected using flowing system with measuring pipe

    The insulating liquids used in industrial applications are typically mineral oils. In recent years however, significant attention has been paid to alternative insulating fluids, including synthetic and natural ester liquids. In order to expand their practical applications, it is important to have detailed information on their dielectric properties. In this present paper, the dielectric properties of synthetic ester, Midel 7131; mineral oil, Shell Diala D; and vegetable (rapeseed) oil have been investigated. It has been shown that Midel 7131 has a higher ac breakdown voltage (27.6 kV) as compared with Diala D oil (26.4 kV) and rapeseed oil (24.6 kV). However, the breakdown voltage of the Diala D oil has the smallest standard deviation (7%) amongst the tested liquids (13% for Midel 7131 and 11% for rapeseed oil). Statistical analysis of the breakdown voltages has been conducted and it has been shown that the ac breakdown voltages can be described by a normal distribution. dc I-V characteristics have been measured and the space charge saturation regime has been observed for all three liquids starting from ~9 kV for positive energisation and ~10 kV for negative energisation in the point-plane topology. Apparent mobilities of the charge carriers in the tested liquids have been obtained using I1/2-V curves; these mobilities can be used for calculation of the space charge influenced distribution of the electric field in liquid insulators stressed with dc voltage. Such analysis can be important for design and exploitation of HVDC power system

    Mixtures of midel 7131 and THESO insulating liquids for pulsed power applications

    The main objective of the present work is the measurement and comparison of the dielectric properties of mixtures of two insulating liquids: synthetic ester liquid Midel 7131, used in the power industry, and THESO high permittivity oil developed by Tetra Corp. for pulsed power applications. It is shown that these two liquids can form stable mixtures with tailored dielectric properties. The dielectric characteristics of Midel 7131/THESO liquid mixtures such as their low frequency dielectric permittivities, DC conductivities and breakdown volt-time characteristics have been measured and will be discussed

    Variations on the Author

    “Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

    Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

    We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature.
