Desenvolvimento do STANAG 5066 ed. 3 DTS
The STANAG 5066 serves as a pivotal standard that aims to guarantee a reliable
means of communication over an HF radio channel. This dissertation will focus on
the NCIA baseline implementation of the STANAG 5066 with the aim of improving
it and ensuring its compliance with edition 3 of the specification. Due to the
complexity of the STANAG 5066, the work performed was limited to the DTS,
which is the sublayer responsible for the exchange of data over the HF channel.
The document starts with a description of the DTS specification to provide
the theoretical foundation necessary to understand the practical aspects of the
implementation by addressing several concepts crucial for HF radio communications
using this protocol. The description of the DTS implementation begins by
exploring the architecture used by NCIA to address various aspects and design
considerations that ensure that the DTS is able to perform in accordance with
its specification. After providing the theoretical background and understanding
of the DTS architecture, the dissertation will delve into the practical aspects of
implementing the DTS to emphasize the practical challenges and considerations
that must be taken into account to ensure a reliable and stable means of
communication. The characterization of the DTS emphasizes how it implements
each feature and the algorithms to maintain data communications over the HF
radio. To finalize and validate the implementation of the STANAG 5066 stack and
DTS in particular, several tests were outlined to evaluate each implemented feature
and verify its compliance with the STANAG 5066 edition 3. The test scenarios were
designed to emulate different conditions that may occur when operating over HF
radio to monitor and record the behaviour of the stack and DTS to guarantee its
compliance and adequate response to issues that may occur.O STANAG 5066 é a especificação de um protocolo desenvolvido para fornecer
um método de comunicação sobre HF radio de maneira a garantir um método
de comunicações confiável, seguro e interoperável entre outras implementações do
mesmo protocolo. Esta dissertação vai focar na implementação do STANAG 5066
desenvolvida pela NATO de maneira a completar e validar a sua conformidade
com o STANAG 5066. Devido à complexidade do STANAG 5066, o trabalho
feito na implementação da NCIA está limitado ao DTS que é a subcamada
responsável pela transferência de dados entre diversos membros da rede HF radio.
Este trabalho começa por fornecer uma descrição detalhada do DTS proveniente
do STANAG 5066 de maneira a disponibilizar as bases teóricas necessárias para
compreender os aspetos mais práticos que irão ser abordados pela implementação
do DTS e que são cruciais para garantir comunicação através de HF radio como
especificado pelo STANAG 5066. A descrição da implementação do DTS começa
por discutir a arquitetura utilizada pela NCIA para abordar a maneira como o
DTS está organizado de maneira a cumprir e completar as tarefas indicadas pelo
STANAG 5066. Após fornecer as bases teóricas e indicar o funcionamento e
organização do DTS, a dissertação irá abordar a fase de implementação de maneira
a descrever e discutir os aspetos mais práticos e desafios que foram abordados
durante este processo. A descrição do DTS aborda os processos e ferramentas
usadas para completar as tarefas indicadas pelo STANAG 5066 de maneira a
permitir a transferência de informação entre diversos membros da rede de HF
radio. Para finalizar e validar a implementação do STANAG 5066 e do DTS, foram
desenvolvidos testes que permitem verificar a sua conformidade e garantir que
a implementação do DTS se comporta de acordo com o STANAG 5066. Cada
teste foi desenvolvido de forma a emular cenários próximos da realidade para
monitorizar e validar o comportamento da implementação do STANAG 5066 e

Interface gráfica para uma implementação da pilha protocolar STANAG 5066
High-frequency (HF) communication systems have played a critical role in military
operations, enabling reliable communication beyond-line-of-sight capabilities.
Recent efforts have focused on developing HF networks as robust alternatives to
satellite communications. Specialized protocols like the Standardization Agreement
(STANAG) 5066 have been developed specifically for military use, offering secure
and efficient communication structures to support these advancements. There are
several implementations from different manufacturers, which sometimes leads to
interoperability problems.
To manage the complexity of the STANAG 5066 protocol stack effectively and
address various operational, monitoring and interoperability requirements, the
development of debugging and analysis tools with graphical user interface (GUI) is
crucial, due to the base difficulties in launching and analysing the S5066 stack.
This dissertation aims to develop GUI software for configuring, operating,
diagnosing, and assessing the performance of the STANAG 5066 protocol stack
based on two applications: a Control Panel and a Monitoring tool.
Initially, various data capture frameworks and tools that can be employed for
graphical interface development are presented. Next, the implemented system
is described, explaining how communication between the STANAG 5066 protocol
stack and the GUI is established. This involves describing the data structures used
and how the graphical environments were developed.
Finally, tests are conducted between the Control Panel, STANAG 5066 stack,
and Monitor Tool using one application client. The results reveal the behavior
of the developed GUI, allowing the user to configure file parameters and launch
various interfaces in the Control Panel. Users can also analyze information from
the STANAG 5066 stack using the developed Monitor tool.
In the end, the created GUI facilitates the use of the STANAG 5066 protocol stack
by improving data organization and user interaction, making information more
accessible and understandable.Os sistemas de comunicações de High Frequency (HF) têm vindo a desempenhar
um papel fundamental nas operações militares, permitindo a estas a realização
de comunicações fiáveis sem linha de vista. As pesquisas mais recentes têm-se
centrado nas redes HF como alternativas robustas às comunicações por satélite.
Nas comunicações HF são utilizados diversos protocolos específicos dos quais
se destaca o Standardization Agreement (STANAG) 5066. Protocolos como
este foram desenvolvidos especificamente para uso militar a altas frequências,
oferecendo estruturas de comunicação seguras e eficientes. Estes apresentam
várias implementações de diferentes fabricantes, não conseguindo garantir
interoperabilidade.
De forma a gerir a complexidade do protocolo STANAG 5066 e atingir os requisitos
operacionais, os de monitorização e os de interoperabilidade, surgiu a necessidade
de desenvolver uma ferramenta (interface gráfica) de debug e de análise tendo em
conta as dificuldades existentes em lançar e analisar a pilha protocolar S5066.
Esta dissertação tem como objetivo desenvolver uma interface gráfica capaz de
configurar, operar, diagnosticar e avaliar o desempenho da pilha protocolar S5066
através de um Painel de Controlo e de um Monitor.
Inicialmente, é apresentada a arquitetura do sistema que permite estabelecer
a implementação da interface gráfica. Em seguida, é proposto o sistema
implementado, explicando como é estabelecida a comunicação entre a pilha
protocolar S5066 e a interface gráfica. Para isso, são mencionadas as estruturas
de dados utilizadas e os ambientes gráficos desenvolvidos.
Finalmente, são realizados testes entre o Painel de Controlo, a pilha protocolar
S5066 e o Monitor, os resultados revelaram um bom desempenho da interface
gráfica desenvolvida.
Por fim, concluiu-se que a interface gráfica desenvolvida facilita a utilização do
protocolo de comunicação S5066 quer na monitorização dos seus dados quer na
configuração da pilha protocolar S5066, tornando assim a informação mais acessível

Vegetation and seed bank of an open-scrub bush restinga formation in the Southeastern coast of Brazil
Introduction: Restingas are coastal plain ecosystems located along Eastern Brazil, correspond-ing to about 5 000 km. The restinga vegetation is associated with the Atlantic rainforest biome and comprises four distinct main formation zones: coastal grasslands, shrublands, open-forests and marsh zones. Especially due to coastal urbanization, this is a threatened ecosystem that, through its different shrub formations, exhibits a unique mosaic as a result of the vegetation distribution in nuclei of different covering, physiognomy and floristic composition. Objective: We aimed to characterize the above and belowground composition of a conserved, non-flooded, open-scrub, nuclei (patches of bushes) formation of restinga in Linhares, ES, southeastern Brazil. Methods: The vegetation survey was conducted using the line intercept method. Diameter and height of the first six nuclei were measured in five transects separated by 50 m, totaling 30 nuclei up to 350 m away from the shore line. The phytosociology and Shannon Index of the aboveground vegetation community were calculated. In the same 30 nuclei, leaf litter and topsoil layer (15 x 15 x 10 cm) samples were collected to survey the viable seed bank, which was later placed in a greenhouse for germination and seedling identification. The Sørensen Similarity index (SSi) was used to compare the floristic composition between the leaf litter and topsoil layer seed banks. Nuclei volume and number of species were calculated as well. Results: In the aboveground vegeta-tion, 54 plant species belonging to 32 families were identified, totaling 1 098 individuals. The nuclei showed a diversity (H’) of 3.08 nats, and an average diameter of 11.5 m (s = 9.1), area of 526.4 m2 (s = 1 081.7), and height of 2.9 m (s = 1.1). Davilla flexuosa, followed by Smilax rufescens, presented the highest IVI (Importance Value Index). A total of 1 839 seedlings from 32 species and 19 families were identified in the seed bank. Enydra sessilis (Asteraceae) had the highest seed density (544), while the family with highest species richness was Cyperaceae. A low similarity between the vegetation surveyed and the seed bank composition was found (only 5 species in common, SSi = 0.10). Conclusions: The results indicate that a post-disturbance early community, established from the seed bank, would have a substantially different species composition, but with other potential species to restore vegetation over the long-term successio

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
