    275. London, British Library, Harley 3667 Computistica (with BL, Cotton Tiberius C. i [231]) [Ker 196, Gneuss -] HISTORY: Harley 3667 is a detached quire from a larger scientific manuscript. Evidence of script and quire signatures demonstrates that other parts of the same manuscript survive in London, BL, Cotton Tiberius C. i, Part 1 [231] (see Ker 1938: 132). The manuscript was written at Peterborough between 1122 and 1135, probably soon after 1122. This is indicated by the presentation of annals concerned with Peterborough Abbey on the Easter tables in the present manuscript (ff. 14-2v), including a reference to the fire at Peterborough in 1116. The last annal entry in the main hand records the death of Radulfus, archbishop of Canterbury, in October 1122; the next entry, recording the death of King Henry I in 1135, is in a different hand. Place and date are confirmed by a similarity of the script of the main hand with that in Oxford, Bodleian Library, Laud Ivlisc. 636 [401), the "Peterborough Chronicle," which records entries up to 1121. The handwriting and decorative pattern of Harley 3667 and Tiberius C. i, Part 1, are similar enough to the work of the first scribe of the "Peterborough Chronicle" to lead Clark (1954: 74) to suggest "that the MSS. were all produced in the same scriptorium, possibly even by the same scribe." Ker (Cat., 260) considers Harley 3667 a Peterborough production of"no doubt .•. C. 1120." In its original form of at least 21 quires, the scientific manuscript probably remained at Peterborough through the Ivliddle Ages, if it can be identified with item A. ii in a late-14c Peterborough book-list (ed. James 1926: 34), i.e., a manuscript of scientific material beginning with Bede "De Compoto et de naturis rerum." After that manuscript was broken up, this handsome single quire found its way into the Harley collection, receiving two pressmarks on f. [iv] recto. Acquired by the British Museum in 1753 on the deatl1 of Robert Harley's son

The cluster environment of Abell 3667

    No full text
Abell 3667 is a rich X-ray luminous southern cluster of galaxies at a redshift of 0.055. The properties of this cluster suggest that it is probably in a post-merger state. Recent radio observations taken with the Australia Telescope Compact Array (ATCA) have allowed a detailed investigation of the environment in this cluster. We present here a synopsis of these observations

Study on the mechanism of hsa_circ_0074763 regulating the miR-3667-3P/ACSL4 axis in liver fibrosis

Abstract This study aimed to investigate the involvement of hsa_circ_0074763 in the activation of HSCs (hepatic stellate cells ) and liver fibrosis. Additionally, it aimed to conduct a preliminary analysis of the molecular mechanism targeting miR-3667-3p/ACSL4 (Long-chain acyl-CoA synthetase 4), thereby providing novel molecular targets for liver fibrosis. The GEO database was utilized to identify differentially expressed hsa_circ_0074763 and determined its subcellular localization in LX-2 cells using fluorescence in situ hybridization. Bioinformatics analysis was employed for result prediction, and the interaction between hsa_circ_0074763 and miR-3667-3P was confirmed using dual-luciferase reporter gene assay. ACSL4 mediated ferroptosis was detected with kit. Hsa_circ_0074763 exhibits high expression levels in the fibrosis model. Validation through dual-luciferase reporter gene assays confirms the interaction between hsa_circ_0074763 and miR-3667-3P. Functional cell experiments demonstrate that overexpression of hsa_circ_0074763 promotes proliferation of LX-2 cells, elevates inflammation levels, and inhibits apoptosis. Additionally, ACSL4 has been identified as a direct target of miR-3667-3P, with overexpression of hsa_circ_0074763 counteracting the inhibitory effect on ACSL4 by suppressing miR-3667-3P. Overexpression of ACSL4 increased the expression levels of ROS (Lipid Oxidation), Iron (Ferro Orange) and MDA (Malondialdehyde), and decreased the expression levels of GPX4 (Glutathione peroxidase 4) and GSH (Glutathione). Our finding suggests that overexpression of hsa_circ_0074763 likely enhances the HSC activation through modulation of the miR-3667-3P/ACSL4 axis. Therefore, hsa_circ_0074763 holds potential as a therapeutic target for liver fibrosis

XMM-Newton EPIC observation of the galaxy cluster A 3667

The Abell cluster of galaxies A 3667 was observed with XMM-Newton in 6 partially overlapping pointings. We present here the resulting X-ray surface brightness, temperature, entropy and pressure maps and discuss the structure of this cluster on scales from 0.1 to 30 arcmin. Based on these observations we refine the origin of the A 3667 cold front to the displacement of the low entropy, high metal abundance gas from the current pressure peak of the cluster. We argue that the mushroom shape of the cold front observed here is similar to what is seen in some numerical simulations. We also present the first evidence for a dynamically significant angular momentum in the cold front

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    No full text
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

    Variations on the Author

    No full text
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
