Local and systemic metastasis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) causes the poor prognosis and increasing evidence confirms that aberrant miRNAs were involved in cancer progression. However, the expression and mechanisms of a specific miR-3194-3p in HCC remains unknown. In this research, we demonstrated that miR-3194-3p, significantly down-regulated in HCC tissues and cell lines, was associated with metastasis and recurrence of HCC. Notably, gain- and loss-of-function assays demonstrated that miR-3194-3p inhibited the migration, invasion and epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) of HCC cells in vitro and in vivo. BCL9, up-regulated in HCC tissues, was a direct downstream target of miR-3194-3p and mediated the functional influence of miR-3194-3p. Most importantly, miR-3194-3p exerted its function by regulating β-catenin pathway. Moreover, miR-3194-3p and BCL9 expression were markedly correlated with adverse clinical features and poor prognosis of HCC patients. We showed that hypoxia was responsible for the down-expression of miR-3194-3p in HCC. Also, the promoting effects of hypoxia on metastasis and EMT of HCC cells were reversed by miR-3194-3p. Altogether, our study suggested that miR-3194-3p inhibits HCC EMT via decreasing Wnt/β-catenin signaling through targeting BCL9 and might be a therapeutic target for HCC.</p

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    Get PDF
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

    Variations on the Author

“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

    Get PDF
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis

Yedinci ve son bölümde kaynaklar yer almaktadır.SUMMARY As a result of the recent economic development as in every scope it has been necessary to make modifications in the Building Code and some structural and fundamental alterations was made in the Building Code by the law published in Official Gazette numbered 18749 on May 9th, 1985 which became effective after November 9th, 1985. Together with this law necessary authority and responsibility were bestowed upon local governments to solve problems and needs effectively and fast. But, it has been seen that the building plan applications at the governorship and municipality were limped because of the applicators who don't know the Building Code exactly Within our this work, a critical approach has been brought to the Building Regulations numbered 31 94 that restricts the architect by examining the main aims and targets of Building Law numbered 31 94 with the authorities and functions of the ministry. This research is formed of seven parts. The first part includes, preliminary expression, themes, aim and contents. The second part is telling, development of Building Law and some information about Building Law numbered 3194. In the third part, the Building Regulation numbered 3194 articles are criticised, some solutions are presented. The effects of Building Regulation to the architectural design, are given. The fourth part includes, spatial consequences of the Building Regulation numbered 3194. The fifth part contains, the effects of Building Regulation to city planning. The sixth part is the Building Regulation itself. Finally, in the seventh part resources of the thesis are given

Objective To study the correlation of serum miR-185-3p and miR-3194-5p with lesion severity of coronary artery. Methods A total of 88 patients with coronary artery disease, diagnosed and treated at the First Affiliated Hospital of Henan University of Science and Technology between January 2021 and July 2024, were enrolled as the research group. This group comprised 40 patients in the low-score subgroup and 48 in the high-score subgroup. The control group consisted of 36 healthy individuals undergoing physical examinations during the same period. The level of miR-185-3p and miR-3194-5p in serum was detected using real-time fluorescence quantitative PCR (RT- qPCR) method. Pearson correlation analysis was applied to assess the correlation between serum miR-185-3p and miR-3194-5p levels in the research group. The correlation between the levels of miR-185-3p and miR-3194-5p with the severity of coronary artery disease were analyzed using Spearman correlation analysis. Logistic regression was applied to analyze the influencing factors of high-score coronary heart disease lesions. ROC curve was applied to analyze the diagnostic value of serum miR-185-3p and miR-3194-5p levels for high-score lesions in clinical coronary heart disease. Results The serum miR-185-3p level in the control group was significantly lower than that in the research group, and the miR-185-3p level in the low-score group was lower than that in the high-score group (P<0.05). The miR-3194-5p level in the research group was significantly lower than that in the control group, and the miR-3194-5p level in the high-score group was lower than that in the low-score group (P<0.05). Serum miR-185-3p and miR-3194-5p in the research group were negatively correlated (P<0.05), and both were correlated with the severity of coronary artery disease (P<0.05). Logistic regression analysis showed that the history of diabetes, hypertension, apolipoprotein B, fasting blood glucose, high-sensitivity C-reactive protein, serum miR-185-3p and miR-3194-5p were all the influencing factors for the occurrence of coronary heart disease with high score (P<0.05). The area under the curve (AUC) for the combined diagnosis of miR-185-3p and miR-3194-5p in high-score coronary heart disease lesions was significantly higher than that for their individual diagnosis (P<0.05). Conclusions The serum miR-185-3p level in the research group is significantly higher than that in the control group, and the miR-3194-5p level is lower than the control group. The serum miR-185-3p level is positively correlated with the severity of coronary artery disease, while the serum miR-3194-5p level is negatively correlated with the severity of coronary artery disease. The combined detection of the two is of great significance for the clinical diagnosis of high-score lesions in coronary heart disease
