Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Get PDFThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

No full textBu çalışmada, iktisat tarihi çalışmalarına kaynaklık eden şer?îyye sicillerinden faydalanılmıştır. 3078 numaralı Bursa Kadı Defteri günümüz Türkçesine aktarımı yapılarak değerlendirilmiştir. Çalışmanın ana konusunu oluşturan 3078 numaralı defter H.1268- 1269/M.1852-1853 yıllarını kapsamaktadır. Defterin transkripsiyon işlemi gerçekleştirilirken kelimelerin doğru okunup yazılmasına dikkat gösterilmiştir. Sicil, 19.yüzyıl ortasında Bursa'nın sosyal, ekonomik ve hukuki yapısı hakkında geniş bilgiler içermektedir. "3078 Numaralı Bursa Şer?îyye Siciline Göre Bursa'da Sosyal ve Ekonomik Hayat (1852-1853)" adlı çalışma üç bölümden oluşmaktadır. Giriş bölümünde Bursa'nın ekonomik yapısının ekonomik gelişimi kısa anlatılmaya çalışılmıştır. Birinci bölümde Bursa Şer?îyye Sicillerinin önemi ve sicillerin kaynak oluşturduğu çalışmalar belirtilmiştir. İkinci bölümde defterde yer alan çeşitli konular tasniflenip başlıkları adı altında incelenmiştir. Ayrıca sicilde yer alan sancak, kaza, mahalle gibi idari bölge isimleri ve meslekler hakkında bilgi verilmiştir. Üçüncü bölümde sonuç olarak değerlendirmeler yer almaktadır. Çalışmanın son bölümü olan ekler kısmında 3078 numaralı Bursa Şer?îyye Sicilinin transkribe edilmiş metni bulunmaktadır. Bu çalışma ile Bursa'nın ve Osmanlı Devleti'nin sosyal, kültürel, ekonomik, hukuki ve idari yapısı üzerine çalışma yapacak olan araştırmacılara katkı sağlaması amaçlanmaktadır.In this study, the şer?îyye registers, which are the source of economic history studies, were used. Bursa Kadi Book numbered 3078 has been evaluated by transferring it to today's Turkish. The notebook numbered 3078, which is the main subject of the study, covers the years H.1268-1269/M.1852-1853. During the transcription process of the notebook, attention was paid to the correct reading and writing of the words. The registry contains extensive information about the social, economic and legal structure of Bursa in the middle of the 19th century. The study named "Social and Economic Life in Bursa According to Bursa Shariah Registry No. 3078 (1852-1853)" consists of two parts. In the introduction, the economic development of Bursa's economic structure has been tried to be explained briefly. In the first part, the importance of Bursa Şer?îyye Registries and the studies on which the registry is a source are stated. In the second part, various subjects in the notebook were classified and examined under the titles. In addition, information was given about the names of administrative regions such as sanjak, district, district and occupations in the registry. In the appendix, which is the last part of the study, there is the transcribed text of the Bursa Şer?îyye Registry numbered 3078. With this study, it is aimed to contribute to the researchers who will work on the social, cultural, economic, legal and administrative structure of Bursa and the Ottoman Empire
Variations on the Author
Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
