พัฒนาการของสวนสัตว์ในสังคมไทย พ.ศ.2481 - 2535
Get PDFThe purpose of this research is to study the development of zoological gardens in Thailand and the social changes that affected zoos from 1938 to 1992. This study divided the time period into four periods. Firstly, before 1938, the construction of the Dusit Zoo, which was the first zoo in Thailand. At that time western-styled zoos did not exist yet; only a collection of live animals in a ‘menagerie’. The second period was from 1938 to 1954, during the government of Field Marshal Plaek Phibunsongkhram, who requested the area around Khao Din Wana should be opened as Dusit Zoo in 1938, with the Bangkok Municipality as the supervisor. However, it was too much of a burden for the municipality to maintain the zoo. Therefore, the government founded a new agency to supervise the zoo, namely the Zoo Organization of Thailand. In the third period from 1954 to 1977, the Zoological Garden Organization of Thailand managed the zoo with the idea of wildlife and natural resources conservation. When it became popular, they established a new sector in accordance with the concept of conservation of natural resources and wildlife. Thus, the vet hospital was constructed inside the zoo and also the Khao Kheow Open Zoo. The final period from 1977 to 1992, the zoo expanded in different regions in order to bring animals from Dusit Zoo to enhance animal research. It was also a breathtaking change; the attempt to make the zoo as a place of learning with various activities. In addition, in 1987, the zoo adjusted the management of the Thai zoo to international standards and gained more international recognition through the policy of the new dimension of the zoo.งานวิจัยนี้ศึกษาพัฒนาการของสวนสัตว์ในประเทศไทย รวมถึงการเปลี่ยนแปลงทางสังคมที่ส่งผลต่อสวนสัตว์ ระหว่าง พ.ศ.2481 – 2535 ผลการศึกษาพบว่า พัฒนาการของสวนสัตว์ในสังคมไทยได้แบ่งออกได้เป็น 4 ยุค คือ ยุคที่ 1 ก่อน พ.ศ.2481 เป็นช่วงเวลาก่อนการเกิดสวนสัตว์ดุสิตซึ่งเป็นสวนสัตว์แห่งแรกของประเทศไทย สวนสัตว์ตามอย่างตะวันตกยังไม่เกิดขึ้นมีเพียงการสะสมสัตว์ในรูปแบบ” โรงเลี้ยงสัตว์” (Menagerie) ยุคที่ 2 (พ.ศ.2481-2497) เป็นยุคที่รัฐบาลจอมพล ป. พิบูลสงคราม ขอพระราชทานพื้นที่บริเวณเขาดินวนา เปิดเป็นสวนสัตว์ดุสิต ใน พ.ศ.2481 โดยมีเทศบาลนครกรุงเทพเป็นผู้ดูแล แต่เทศบาลมีภาระจำนวนมากทำให้ไม่สามารถดูแลสวนสัตว์ได้ รัฐบาลจึงสร้างหน่วยงานใหม่เข้ามาดูแลสวนสัตว์ คือ องค์การสวนสัตว์แห่งประเทศไทย ยุคที่ 3 (พ.ศ.2497-2520) องค์การสวนสัตว์แห่งประเทศไทยเข้ามาบริหารจัดการสวนสัตว์ภายใต้กระแสการอนุรักษ์ธรรมชาติและสัตว์ป่า จนได้รับความนิยมจากประชาชนและเกิดส่วนงานใหม่ที่ตอบสนองต่อแนวคิดในการอนุรักษ์ทรัพยากรธรรมชาติและสัตว์ป่าขึ้น คือ มีการสร้างโรงพยาบาลสัตว์ภายในสวนสัตว์ และการสร้างสวนสัตว์เปิดเขาเขียว ยุคที่ 4 (พ.ศ.2520-2535) เป็นช่วงเวลาที่เกิดสวนสัตว์สาขาตามภูมิภาคต่าง ๆ เพื่อระบายสัตว์จากสวนสัตว์ดุสิตและส่งเสริมการค้นคว้าวิจัยเกี่ยวกับสัตว์ อีกทั้งยังเป็นช่วงเวลาที่เกิดการเปลี่ยนแปลงที่สำคัญ คือ การพยายามให้สวนสัตว์เป็นสถานที่แห่งการเรียนรู้ผ่านการจัดกิจกรรมต่าง ๆ ประกอบกับในทศวรรษ 2530 สวนสัตว์ได้ปรับเปลี่ยนการจัดการสวนสัตว์ของไทยมีมาตรฐานสากลได้รับการยอมรับจากต่างประเทศมากขึ้นผ่านนโยบาย “มิติใหม่ของสวนสัตว์”MASTER OF ARTS (M.A.)ศิลปศาสตรมหาบัณฑิต (ศศ.ม.)--Department Of Historyภาควิชาประวัติศาสตร

mTOR Ser-2481 Autophosphorylation Monitors mTORC-specific Catalytic Activity and Clarifies Rapamycin Mechanism of Action
No full textThe mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) Ser/Thr kinase signals in at least two multiprotein complexes distinguished by their different partners and sensitivities to rapamycin. Acute rapamycin inhibits signaling by mTOR complex 1 (mTORC1) but not mTOR complex 2 (mTORC2), which both promote cell growth, proliferation, and survival. Although mTORC2 regulation remains poorly defined, diverse cellular mitogens activate mTORC1 signaling in a manner that requires sufficient levels of amino acids and cellular energy. Before the identification of distinct mTOR complexes, mTOR was reported to autophosphorylate on Ser-2481 in vivo in a rapamycin- and amino acid-insensitive manner. These results suggested that modulation of mTOR intrinsic catalytic activity does not universally underlie mTOR regulation. Here we re-examine the regulation of mTOR Ser-2481 autophosphorylation (Ser(P)-2481) in vivo by studying mTORC-specific Ser(P)-2481 in mTORC1 and mTORC2, with a primary focus on mTORC1. In contrast to previous work, we find that acute rapamycin and amino acid withdrawal markedly attenuate mTORC1-associated mTOR Ser(P)-2481 in cycling cells. Although insulin stimulates both mTORC1- and mTORC2-associated mTOR Ser(P)-2481 in a phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase-dependent manner, rapamycin acutely inhibits insulin-stimulated mTOR Ser(P)-2481 in mTORC1 but not mTORC2. By interrogating diverse mTORC1 regulatory input, we find that without exception mTORC1-activating signals promote, whereas mTORC1-inhibitory signals decrease mTORC1-associated mTOR Ser(P)-2481. These data suggest that mTORC1- and likely mTORC2-associated mTOR Ser-2481 autophosphorylation directly monitors intrinsic mTORC-specific catalytic activity and reveal that rapamycin inhibits mTORC1 signaling in vivo by reducing mTORC1 catalytic activity
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Get PDFThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
