[[alternative]]THE STUDY HOT CRACK SUSCEPTIBILITY OF ALUMINUM ALLOYS 2219 AND 5083

    No full text
[[abstract]]The purpose of this research is to study and prove the heat crack susceptibility of Aluminum Alloys 2219-T31 and 5083-O. The effect of augment strain and the thermal cycle of heat input to test the crack sensitivity for GTAW welding metal of aluminum alloy by using the Varestraint Test. In addition, for heat-treatment alloy is to prove, discuss the effect of heat crack sensitivity for pre-weld heat treatment. Optical microscope metallography was used to determine and analyze the effects, after welding. A series of experiment result is indicated that, the augmented strain can be increased the crack sensitivity. The increase of the thermal cycle in heat input will gradually increase the crack sensitivity. Alloy 5083-O is safer and better compare to 2219-T31 as the crack sensitivity is lower. The alloy 2219-T31 is better to use for pre-weld heat treatment, as the crack sensitivity is low. The crack sensitivity can be affected by the different arrangement and the sizes of the microscope grain. The result from SEM observations on the welded-broken specimen proved that the solidification cracking and liquefaction cracking, for heat cracks were observed to initiate and propagate along grain boundaries in both the fusion zone and weld heat-affected zone.

Short-Time Elevated Temperature Mechanical Properties of 2219-T87 and 2219-T6 Aluminum Alloy

    No full text
The mechanical properties of 2219-T87 and 2219-T6 aluminum were determined after soak times from 0 to 300 sec at temperatures from 300 deg F (149 deg C) to 600 deg F (316 deg C). Specimens were tested also at ambient temperatures after a soaking period of 300 sec at temperatures of 200 deg F (93 deg C) to 700 deg F (371 deg C). In general, the tensile strength of the 2219 aluminum alloy decreased with increasing temperature. The tensile properties were not significantly influenced by variations in the soak times used through 500 deg F (260 deg C). At 600 deg F (316 deg C), increasing the soak time affected the strength slightly. For relatively short time exposures, this material can be recommended for load-bearing applications to 400 deg F (204 deg C), at which temperature 70 percent of the ambient temperature strength is still retained. When tested at ambient temperature after exposure to 400 deg F (204 deg C) for 300 sec, 2219-T87 retained approximately 97 percent of its original ambient temperature strength.</jats:p

Dynamic Mechanical Properties and Constitutive Equations of 2219 Aluminum Alloy

To analyze the deformation characteristics and the change rule of flow stress of 2219 aluminum alloy at high temperatures and high strain rates, the dynamic as well as quasi-static tensile response of 2219 aluminum alloy were investigated by using split Hopkinson pressure test(SHPB) and universal test machine. The true stress-strain curves of 2219 aluminum alloy under different strain rates and temperatures were obtained. The results show that the temperature sensitivity of 2219 aluminum alloy is high and the flow stress decreases with the increase of temperature. When the strain rates are within the range of 1000-3000s-1, the change of flow stress is not obvious. The parameters fitted by the Johnson-Cook model can predict well the flow stress

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
