Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more

Produção e caracterização de pellets de resíduos de madeiras amazônicas para fins energéticos visando o mercado internacional : conformidade com a norma ISO 17225-2
Trabalho de Conclusão de Curso (graduação)—Universidade de Brasília, Faculdade de Tecnologia, Departamento de Engenharia Florestal, 2019.A indústria florestal brasileira gera grandes quantidades de resíduos de madeira, que podem ser aproveitados para uso energético na forma de pellets, agregando valor à cadeia produtiva do setor. O objetivo do estudo foi avaliar a viabilidade técnica da produção de pellets para fins energéticos a partir de resíduos de madeiras amazônicas e analisá-los em relação à Norma ISO 17225-2. Foram estudadas 6 espécies amazônicas (Peltogyne lecointei – Roxinho, Erisma uncinatum – Libra, Martiodendrom elatum – Tamarindo, Handroanthus incanus - Ipê-roxo, Dipteryx odorata – Cumaru-ferro e Allantoma decandra - Jequitibá) oriundas da Floresta Nacional do Jacundá, Rondônia. A partir dessas espécies foram preparadas 4 misturas (M1: cumaru-ferro e jequitibá; M2: todas as espécies; M3: roxinho, tamarindo, ipê-roxo e cumaru; M4: libra e jequitibá), que foram peletizadas sob dois teores de umidade, 8 e 10%. Para avaliação do efeito do tipo de mistura e do teor de umidade delas nas propriedades dos pellets foi utilizado um experimento fatorial 4x2 (4 misturas e 2 teores de umidade), totalizando 8 tratamentos. Os pellets oriundos dos 8 tratamentos foram analisados conforme a Norma ISO 17225-2. Todas as misturas testadas mostraram-se aptas à produção de pellets para fins energéticos. As misturas 1, 2 e 3, nos dois teores de umidade testados, produziram pellets cujo diâmetro, comprimento, teor de umidade, teor de cinzas, densidade a granel e poder calorífico inferior correspondem à classe A1 (melhor classe de qualidade, segundo a Norma ISO 17225-2). Nenhum dos tratamentos testados permitiu a produção de pellets com durabilidade mecânica mínima de 96,5% exigida pela Norma ISO 17225-2. Os pellets da mistura 3, peletizada com 10% de teor de umidade, apresentaram a maior durabilidade mecânica (90,4%). O aumento do teor de umidade das misturas (de 8 para 10%) impactou positivamente a durabilidade mecânica dos pellets das misturas 1, 2 e 3. O processo de peletização aumentou a densidade a granel dos resíduos, em média, em 2,31 vezes e a densidade energética em 2,55 vezes.The Brazilian forest industry generates large amounts of wood waste, which can be used for energy use in the form of pellets, adding value to the sector's production chain. This study aimed to evaluate the technical feasibility of producing pellets for energy purposes from Amazonian wood residues and analyzing them in relation to ISO 17225-2. Six Amazonian species (Peltogyne lecointei - Roxinho, Erisma uncinatum - Libra, Martiodendrom elatum - Tamarindo, Handroanthus incanus – Ipê-roxo, Dipteryx odorata - Cumaru-ferro and Allantoma decandra - Jequitibá) from Jacundá National Forest, Rondônia, were studied. From these species were prepared 4 blends (M1: cumaru-ferro and jequitibá; M2: all species; M3: roxinho, tamarindo, ipe-roxo and cumaru; M4: libra and jequitibá), which were pelleted under two moisture levels, 8 and 10%. To evaluate the effect of blend type and their moisture content on the properties of the pellets, a 4x2 factorial experiment (4 blends and 2 moisture contents) was used, totaling 8 treatments. The pellets from the 8 treatments were analyzed according to ISO 17225-2. All blends tested were able to produce pellets for energy purposes. Blends 1, 2 and 3, at the two moisture levels tested, produced pellets whose diameter, length, moisture content, ash content, bulk density and lower calorific value correspond to class A1 (best quality class according to International Standard ISO 17225-2). None of the treatments tested allowed the production of pellets with a minimum mechanical durability of 96.5% required by ISO 17225-2. Blend 3, pelleted with 10% moisture content, had the highest mechanical durability (90.4%). Mechanical durability of the blends 1, 2 and 3 increased with increasing moisture content of the blends (from 8 to 10%). The pelletizing process increased the bulk density of the waste by a factor of 2,31 and the energy density by a factor of 2,55

We have done our best to complete the author checklist relating to the use of animals in the hut study. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
Analysis of pellet quality of Croatian producers according to HRN EN ISO 17225-2:2021
Drvni peleti važan su energent koji je već godinama prisutan na hrvatskom tržištu. Analiza kvalitete peleta trajan je proces koji kupcima (korisnicima) peleta jamči nesmetan rad sustava grijanja. U ovom radu analizirat će se peleti hrvatskih proizvođača prema osnovnoj sirovini (jela, bukva, hrast) te će se utvrditi razlike u kvaliteti peleta koje su posljedica korištenja različitih sirovina u proizvodnji peleta. Sve analize provesti će se prema propisanim normama u sklopu HRN EN ISO 17225-2:2021.Wood pellets are an important energy source that has been present onthe Croatianmarket for years. Pellet quality analysis is a permanent process that guarantees smooth operation of the heating system to buyers (users) of pellets. In this paper, the pellets produced by Croatian producers will be analyzed according to the basic raw material (fir, beech, oak) and the differences in the quality of the pellets that are the result of the use of different raw materials in the production of pellets will be determined.
