Foley, soundscape e música ubíqua em processos criativos audiovisuais
Sound in audiovisual productions is an essential element for films to have a greater impact and provide a relational aesthetic with their viewers. This brief study brings some surveys carried out in different videos that use the foley technique (1), soundscape (2) and ubiquitous music (3) as a creative process proposal. 1. Foley is a technique of making sound in the studio with sound effects related to human interaction with the world; 2. soundscape in literal translation is soundscape, Murray Schafer's concept, with diverse applications; 3. ubiquitous music is the creation of musical compositions using ubiquitous technological devices, this field of study is very similar to the way in which foley techniques and capture of soundscapes are made. We seek to bring in more detail each of these concepts and techniques adopted. As examples we bring some recent productions made in the last years and two artistic creations made by XXX in 2018.O som em produções audiovisuais é elemento essencial para que os filmes causem maior impacto e proporcione uma estética relacional com seus espectadores.

T-FOLEY: A Controllable Waveform-Domain Diffusion Model for Temporal-Event-Guided Foley Sound Synthesis
Foley sound, audio content inserted synchronously with videos, plays a
critical role in the user experience of multimedia content. Recently, there has
been active research in Foley sound synthesis, leveraging the advancements in
deep generative models. However, such works mainly focus on replicating a
single sound class or a textual sound description, neglecting temporal
information, which is crucial in the practical applications of Foley sound. We
present T-Foley, a Temporal-event-guided waveform generation model for Foley
sound synthesis. T-Foley generates high-quality audio using two conditions: the
sound class and temporal event feature. For temporal conditioning, we devise a
temporal event feature and a novel conditioning technique named Block-FiLM.
T-Foley achieves superior performance in both objective and subjective
evaluation metrics and generates Foley sound well-synchronized with the
temporal events. Additionally, we showcase T-Foley's practical applications,
particularly in scenarios involving vocal mimicry for temporal event control.

Jennifer Murphy, Chris Rogers : The Great Syntax Monument // Gerhard Treml : The Attic of My Room // Sean Foley : The Sound of My Life... // Kenn Sakurai, Dave O'Regan
In this Mercer Union programming pamphlet, Eden comments on Murphy's and Rogers' collaborative process, while Dick provides a new vocabulary for discussing their work. Eden also writes about Treml, claiming his architectural fantasies represent conceptions of the brain. Foley, Sakurai and O’Regan introduce their work, and Jelinek prefaces a screening of Austrian experimental film and video. Biographical notes
