Comparative study between steel and timber roof trusses for medium span building / Che Suriani Che Said
Roof area is just a small part of the total surface. Roof must be strong and stable and these are provided by the structure of the roof itself and a major consideration in the design and choice of the structure which is the span. The roof must be sufficiently stiff to carry its own weight, together with loads resulting from the effects of wind and possible live load. The general form of the building as a whole and its function may have an important bearing on the choice of the type of roof structure. This research is conducted to identify what is the suitable material for roof trusses for medium span building, either steel or timber. Medium span are classified between 7.60m to 24.40m.The important factors that must be considered before choosing the types of materials are include many factors. The Comparative Study between Steel and Timber Roof Trusses for Medium Span building is highlighted on design, weight ratio, cost, assembly/installation, fabrication (IBS) fire requirement (UBBL) and jointing. The research is done through the distribution of 40 questionnaires to Roofing Contractors, Roofing Manufacturers, Architects, Quantity Surveyors, CIDB Officers and Quality Control Assistants. Besides that, the data and information were also gathered from interviews of persons with years of experience on roof trusses. Furthermore, the author also selected four case studies about steel and timber roof trusses to achieve the objectives of this research to identify which type of roof trusses suitable and effective for medium span buildings. Finally, the analysis data from the methodology research found that steel roof trusses is suitable for medium span building compared to with timber roof trusses because many advantages and benefits for construction industry today
Dimensions of social media marketing capabilities and their contribution to business performance of firms in Thailand / Nurun Nasuha Mahmud
Generally, this article discusses about social media marketing initiatives that have been implemented by small medium enterprises (SMEs) especially in
Thailand in which customers can engage in the dissemination of information via social media sites. Social media gives lots of opportunities to business
entities where marketers may use social media marketing to raise brand recognition, exchange expertise and information, attract and keep consumers, launch low-cost promotions, and engage with customers in interactive ways. In this article also, the author mentioned that most of the SMEs not only in Thailand tend to be unsuccessful in adopting the social media marketing initiatives because of several reasons and one of them is because of a lack of
understanding of the opportunities provided by social media. Besides, the author of this article also stresses about the five dimensions of spanning capabilities of Day’s strategic framework, which is a comprehensive framework that has been widely used in marketing research. In addition, this article conducted to see if companies in Thailand with a high level of social media marketing capabilities in these five areas had better results in two areas: customer relationship performance and financial performance
Unobtrusive Monitoring of Fluid Accumulation in the Body Using Ballistocardiography: A Feasibility Study
Fluid accumulation in the human body is, in many cases, a symptom of some underlying pathological condition. Most common examples include edema, ascites, pleural effusion, and internal bleeding. Currently available non-invasive methods to assess fluid accumulation in the body are mainly imaging-based (i.e. ultrasound, computed tomography). This means that monitoring is limited to spot-checks and is only performed when the presence of a particular condition is already suspected from prior clinical evaluation of the patient. There is high clinical interest in the development of a system allowing such monitoring to be performed automatically, continuously over a prolonged period of time, and independently of prior clinical evaluation. For instance, in the case of internal bleeding, hemorrhage indicators such as variation in heart rate and blood pressure are only observable after significant blood loss (up to more than 1 liter) has already taken place, therefore an early warning system can save lives, decrease hospital stay length and significantly reduce complication-related costs. In this thesis, a pioneer solution is proposed for development of such a monitoring system. The hypothesized solution is based on the observation of specific energy-describing features of the Ballistocardiogram (BCG) signal, a measure of the periodic displacements generated on the body as a result of ballistic forces produced by the heart during each cardiac cycle. Because of additional damping generated by the presence of internally accumulated fluid, the energy of this signal is expected to decrease compared to its baseline value. The BCG can be recorded unobtrusively with different sensing modalities on the surface of the body. In order to validate the research hypothesis and assess the feasibility of this novel technique, a custom experimental set-up exploiting several different BCG sensing options has been used to carry out a study on 15 human volunteers. Localized fluid accumulation along the GI tract was induced in a controlled, safe and simple fashion, by means of water intake by the participants, and the BCG signal was recorded before and after intake. Signal feature exploration and performance analysis has been used to develop an optimized feature able to accurately capture the decrease in signal energy due to fluid accumulation, as well as to identify the most suitable sensor type and monitoring body location for the present application. The developed energy-describing feature shows a significant decrease in energy value from baseline to after-intake condition with a p-value<0.001. Moreover, the selected feature was able to correctly identify presence of fluid accumulation with high sensitivity (90% in bed-based, and 100% in standing-position monitoring). Given the promising results of the present study, further research towards improvement and development of the proposed technique is highly encouraged
Management of social media records at the university of science technology in Zimbabwe / Rachel Cindy Chundang Innit
Recently, social media plays an important role in many universities around the world, especially for marketing strategies. The study has shown that the community utilizes the common social media such as Twitter, Instagram and Facebook to approach each other. The author also mentioned that individuals and governments are actively participating in social media records management in universities. According to Rastogi (2014), new alternatives have developed in social media platforms such as interacting, cooperation and commitment between diverse organizations, both within and multiple stakeholders for many years. Based on the study of this article, Facebook is the social media platform that recorded the highest number of users by individuals and business entities. Chaffey 2019 also mentioned that Facebook has indicated that 65 million of businesses have created a Facebook page where 88 percent of this organization utilize Twitter for commercials and there are more than 18 to 49 years old that used Youtube in the United States of America

FAKTOR PENGHAMBAT PENGELOLAAN RETRIBUSI SEKTOR PERIKANAN DALAM PENINGKATAN PENDAPATAN ASLI DAERAH KABUPATEN MUNA
The existence of the authority for the local government to collect retribution for business services in the fishery sector has not been properly optimized by the Regional Government of Muna Regency. As a result, it has an impact on the local revenue of the fisheries sector which has experienced a downward trend over the last three years. Therefore, it is very important to conduct a study to reveal the inhibiting factors in the management of business service fees in the fisheries sector in increasing PAD in Muna Regency. In this study, the author uses a type of juridical-empirical research, with the research approach used is a theoretical approach (Theoretical Approach). The legal materials used are primary legal materials and secondary materials obtained through library research and observation, which are then analyzed qualitatively descriptively. The results showed that the inhibiting factor experienced by the Muna Regency Government in managing fishery sector business services levies in order to increase local revenue is, because the regional regulations governing fishery sector business service retribution rates are no longer relevant to the price index and current economic developments. . In addition, the absence of exemplary employees in collecting retribution, inadequate retribution infrastructure facilities, and the lack of legal awareness of the community to make retribution payments, are also factors inhibiting the management of levies in the fisheries sector in increasing local revenue in Muna Regency. Keywords: Retribution Inhibitor, Fishery, PAD Muna.
