NOVEL MAHAR CINTA GANDORIAH KARYA MARDHIYAN NOVITA M.Z: ANALISIS SOSIOLOGI SASTRA IAN WATT
This analysis on novel entitled Mahar Cinta Gandoriah by Mardhiyan
Novita MZ aims to show the reflection of social issue in literature, notably the
conflict issue toward a tradition. This research attempts to investigate the forms of
conflict on the novel. The theory used in this research is Ian Watts sociology of
literature which has three research focuses, there are: social context of the author,
reflection of society, and social function of literature.
Literary text is assumed as a product of socio-culture which reflects the
life of a society. Social reality reflected on a literary text is a reality framed into a
fiction. A fiction cannot be separated from the factual one. The conflict on
bajupuik tradition is one of factual issue appointed on the novel. Based on the
factual issue appointed on an literary work, it is inevitably that literature should be
able to reflect the society and it should has a social function. The factual issue
appoited on a literary text cannot be separated from its authors social context.
Social context of the author, reflection of society, and social function of literature
have an intimate relation.
The result of this research showed that there are some factors which
influence conflict on bajupuik tradition, also the dynamics of man pricing in
Minangese marriage on the novel. There are three sides in the conflict: those who
doubtful against the tradition, the pro sides, and those who oppose the tradition.
Those who support the practice of bajapuik tradition not necessarily detached
from the problem. The man pricing on bajapuik tradition got its dilemma.
Aristocratic title, education, and wealth are three main points which cannot
be separated from the man pricing on bajapuik tradition. Having those three
things or one or two of those three things precisely give rise to problem on the
man pricing. The presence of Islam after the entrenced of bajapuik tradition also
experienced a certain problem. The relation between Islam and bajapuik tradition
only has two choice

CITRA PEREMPUAN SUKU DANI DALAM NOVEL ETNOGRAFI SALI, KISAH SEORANG WANITA SUKU DANI KARYA DEWI LINGGASARI: ANALISIS KRITIK SASTRA FEMINIS RUTHVEN
The research conducted on a novel tittled Sali, The Story of a Dani Woman
(SKSWSD) by Linggasari aims to contribute ideas on the study of women,
especially images of Dani women by using feminist literary criticism from
Ruthven. Dani women live in a patriarchal system that treats women in a
disadvantageous position. In this research, the concept images of women is used
to reveal the nature of stereotype representation of women oppression. In
ethnographic novel SKSWSD, the author tried to criticize the patriarchal system
that is represented from Dani female figures with their life background, there by it
establishes the image of Dani women.
The results from the character identification shows that there contrafeminist
and profeminist characters in the middle of patriarchal culture. The analysis of
language aspects are used for the reflection of Dani womens image. According to
the analysis of aspects of language usage, there are three conceptions. First, the
language showed gender differences. Second, the language refers to the symbols
of feminine and masculine. Third, as a form of criticism from women toward men
in the middle of patriarchal culture. The ideology of women's imaging proves that
women rule over theirself, always trying to be free from male dominance, and
they have right to get education. Analysis of the image of women shows Dani
women have image in the domestic sector and the image in the public sector.
Based on the research, it can be concluded that novel ethnography SKSWSD
raises the problems of women who live in the middle of the patriarchal system.
The female characters in the novel have to make a protest action for the gender
inequality they get, not merely an idea or discourse of feminism
OBJEKTIVIKASI PEREMPUAN DALAM LIMA CERITA RAKYAT INDONESIA : ANALISIS KRITIK SASTRA FEMINIS
Literature is widely known as one tool that reflects social reality, one of
them is the relationship between man and woman. Related to that relationship, by
observing literatures, we could see that there are some social constructions that
divide both of them into different position. Woman is often treated differently and
is put into a restricted life with fewer rights. This way of treating to woman is
caused by a patriarchy system
Patriarchy system makes border in womans life, puts woman in
disadvantage position and even takes away womans rights as an independent
individual subject. Just the opposite, this system gives woman a position as object
that depend on mans existence as a subject.
This kind of objectification, in literatures, can be seen in some Indonesians
folklores. Folklore, as a story that contains traditions, cultures and local thoughts
and has been bequeathed for generations, has become a valuable heritage to
observe many kinds of objectification of woman. Surprisingly, even by the reader,
the objectification of woman is hardly to be known. This research will study the
objectification of woman in five indonesians folklores, viz., Putri yang Berubah
Menjadi Ular (North Sumatera), Putri Mambang Linau (Riau), Putri Tujuh
(Riau), Ning Rangda (South Kalimantan), dan Dewi Luing Indung Bunga
(South Kalimantan). This research of the objectification of woman will be
represented in identification of characters, aspect of language and the aspect of
plot. Based on the analyses that has been done, the objectification of woman has
been found in five folklores above
NOVEL PENGAKUAN EKS PARASIT LAJANG KARYA AYU UTAMI: KAJIAN KRITIK SASTRA FEMINIS SOSIALIS
Feminist literary criticism takes women as their main focus. This type of
criticism describes the socialist feminism movement brought by writers through
works of literature. This writing entitled Novel Pengakuan Eks Parasit Lajang
by Ayu Utami: A Socialist feminism Literary Criticism describes the feminist
aspects in the novel using the socialist feminism literary criticism.
The study of the novel Pengakuan Eks Parasit Lajang (PEPL) can be
concluded that there are profeminist characters and also contrafeminist characters
in this novel. A profeminist character is a character that is pro to the feminist
movement, while on the other hand a contrafeminist character is a character who
disagrees with the idea of feminism and the feminist movement. In the novel
PEPL, struggle by the female characters against the patriarchal system which is
believed to be the root of the gender inequities issues that led women to be in the
second class of the society can be found. The feminist ideas in the novel PEPL
shows that there are similarities between the novel PEPL and the profeminist
characters represented in the novel. These characters struggle to warn the females
to be aware and conscious that they are being treated as a second-class in the
society of patriarchal system
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more
sophisticated methods
