The Marturanum Regional Park is
a small protected area (1,240 hectares),
however it is placed along the interface
between two of the main lithological
units of Lazio, hence featuring a high
diversity of flora, vegetation and landscape.
Further, it includes a small part
of theMonti dellaTolfa, a 30,000 hectares
hilly rangewhich features an exceptionally
low population density. The
Tolfa hills are a biodiversity hotspot of
C-Italy and show a very distinctive landscape
pattern. The present paper outlines
a phytosociological classification
and syntaxonomical discussion of the
numerous plant communities found in
theMarturanumPark.The presentwork
describes also the different role of the
natural constraints and of the historical
and cultural processes that have led to
the peculiar landscape patterns nowadays
found in the area, and in particular
to the differentiation between the two
landscape systems of the pyroclastic
flow and the Tolfa flysch.Parco regionale Marturanu
A systematic campaign of scientific analyses on a early XXth century pigments’s collection belonged to famous florentine restorers is carried out, in order to obtain chemical, physical and historical classification of each material. The aim of research is to characterize all pigments in a database periodically uploaded and integrated with new analytical data, by supplying references on the products commercialized between 1850 and 1950, that were largely used for conservation treatments
Engineering the cell wall by reducing de-methyl-esterified homogalacturonan improves saccharification of plant tissues for bioconversion
Plant cell walls represent an abundant, renewable source of biofuels and other useful products. The major bottleneck for the industrial scale-up of their conversion to simple sugars (saccharification) is their recalcitrance to enzymatic hydrolysis. We demonstrated that the structure of pectin affects the exposure of cellulose to enzymes and consequently the process of saccharification. This work was supported by the European Research Council [ERC Advanced Grant 233083 (F. Revision of Chlorionidea Löw (Hemiptera, Delphacidae) with the description of two new species from Italy, and comments on anti-symmetry in male genitalia of Delphacidae
The genus Chlorionidea Löw until now contained two species: C. flava Löw and
C. bromi Emeljanov. Recently we discovered two new species of this genus in Italy,
which we describe in this paper as C. apenninica sp. nov. and C. sibillinica sp. nov.
For all four Chlorionidea taxa we provide descriptions and an identification key.
Details of male and female genitalia, aspects of head morphology and the fifth
instar nymph of C. sibillinica are shown. In addition we discuss phylogenetic relationships
between the four taxa. In three of the four species anti-symmetry in male
genitalia is observed. We discuss this phenomenon and compare similar cases in
other Delphacidae. Finally we summarize the available data on life cycle, food
plants and geographical distribution of Chlorionidea species
impaginato pdfDespite the constant connection made between the idea of multiculturalism and the philosophy of Charles Taylor, this last one not only has never accepted the multicultural proposal, but also suggested a different manner to connect the migrant communities and the receiving societies. His position cannot be properly comprehended if it is not put in the context of his analysis of the contrasts between Canada and Quebec
