Il valore della legge. Semantiche del diritto e del dominio in Marx

    No full text
The essay reconstructs the semantics of the concept of law in Marx, tracking its transformations from his early writings to those devoted to the critique of political economy. Thanks to the critique of private law and the confrontation with Max Stirner, Marx abandons the idea of law as an expression of the universal, reaching a conception of political right as the outcome of the an-tagonism of social relations. Therefore, the overlapping and reciprocal influence between the properly legal meaning and that which he derives from the analysis of the social relationship of capital becomes crucial. Significantly, Marx repeatedly states that what he calls economic laws actually express only a tendency. Their actual normativity, and accordingly also the rule of capital, are thus always exposed to the risk of crisis and the effects of class struggle

Visions of Europe: Genesis and Development of the European Project between Fascism and Neo-Fascism

    No full text
The work analyses the genesis of the process of European integration conceived by the fascist and national socialist regimes during the 1920s and 1930s, focusing on far-right internationalism (or the International of Nationalists) and its development in the postwar period. The main objective is to compare the Europeanist projects of the fascists and Nazis, highlighting their critiques of the Treaty of Versailles and the League of Nations, as well as the roles of key figures such as Asvero Gravelli and Hans Keller. Additionally, the work examines the transition from the idea of a fascist Europe to that of a neofascist Europe in the context of the Cold War, analysing how such principles have been reinterpreted, both directly and indirectly, by organisations such as the European Social Movement (ESM) and by intellectuals like Maurice Bardèche and Julius Evola. In this regard, the study aims to enrich the historiographical debate on the origins of a thought that, even today, seeks to undermine the idea of Europe founded on the values of democracy and parliamentary principles

Navigating boundaries: conflicting roles, agency, trust, and risk in sports interpreting

Abstract: The scandal involving Ippei Mizuhara, former interpreter for baseball star Shohei Ohtani, has highlighted the potentially expansive roles of sports interpreters. Mizuhara’s duties included acting as Ohtani’s personal assistant, media liaison, and cultural broker, which ultimately enabled him to manipulate financial transactions and embezzle nearly $17 million. This paper examines the causes of this scandal by analysing the unique roles and responsibilities of sports interpreters and drawing on key concepts of agency, trust, and risk within sports interpreting. Through interviews with interpreters in Japanese baseball and Italian football, this study conducted a comparative analysis of their experiences in different cultural and sports contexts. The analysis involved both professional interpreters hired by sports clubs and freelancers, as well as ad-hoc interpreters such as former players. Findings revealed that interpreters often face role conflicts, such as balancing professional boundaries with personal involvement, and take on responsibilities far beyond linguistic mediation, including cultural adaptation, logistical support, and conflict resolution. These expanded roles, while critical to athletes' success, create vulnerabilities when trust is misplaced, as seen in Mizuhara's case. This paper highlights the complex dynamics in sports interpreting, emphasizing the need for clear ethical guidelines and training to ensure accountability and professional standards

    Alethic pluralism

Alethic pluralism is the view according to which there are many ways of being true. This approach represents the most recent development and innovation in contemporary philosophy of truth, contrasting with both monistic and deflationary positions. The main idea behind this conception is that truth can consist of different properties in different areas of discourse. This thesis has been articulated in various ways, generating a range of theoretical proposals. This article presents the basic principles and main articulations of alethic pluralism, briefly discussing some of the objections that have been raised against it

Occhio al Panopticon. Bentham e lo sguardo come strumento di controllo sociale

    No full text
The article investigates the central socio-political function played by the gaze in Jeremy Bentham's Panopticon. The relevant role of the sense of sight in the Inspection House already emerges clearly in the light of the cultural temperament and historical context in which it was designed, as both are imbued with a renewed taste for theatricality, not only in aesthetic terms but also with distinctly political reflections. However, the contextualisation of the panoptic project within Jeremy Bentham's Political Theory and Theory of Punishment - both indebted to his ethical-anthropological perspective - will allow for a clearer understanding of the social and political significance of the gaze as its essential profile: as operating in the Panopticon, in fact, the sense of sight would have guaranteed not only a (reflexive) monitoring of society but also a control over the rulers (represented by the inspector) by society. Through his articulate reflection, Bentham corroborates a link between visibility and surveillance that is destined to persist in the present time

Advanced Learning and Conformal Methods for Verification and Prediction of Stochastic Systems

    No full text
This research summary synthesises findings from recent papers at the intersection of formal methods, stochastic systems, and machine learning. The reviewed literature reveals a strong trend towards leveraging deep generative models (e.g., Diffusion models, VAEs, GANs) for tasks such as model abstraction, forecasting, and planning. A critical parallel trend is the integration of these data-driven methods with rigorous statistical guarantees, primarily through Conformal Prediction (CP) and Bayesian inference, to ensure reliability and safety. The papers are organized into four macro-topics: 1) Conformal Prediction for Runtime Verification and Monitoring, which focuses on providing efficient, statistically guaranteed predictions for temporal logic properties; 2) Scalable Bayesian Verification and Uncertainty Quantification, which addresses the challenge of scaling parametric verification to high dimensions; 3) Neuro-Symbolic and Generative Model Discovery, which explores methods to automatically learn interpretable, mechanistic models from data; and 4) Generative Abstractions and Guided Sampling, which uses generative models to create fast simulators and to steer outputs towards satisfying complex constraints. The collective findings indicate a paradigm shift from purely simulation-based analysis to a hybrid, data-driven approach that does not sacrifice formal guarantees, enabling the application of formal verification to larger, more complex systems.

Coincidence point results in partial b-metric spaces via tri-simulation function and digraph with an application

    No full text
In this article, we introduce the concept of generalized (α, T)-G-contractive mappings in partial b-metric spaces endowed with a digraph G and obtain a new coincidence point and common fixed point result for a pair of self mappings satisfying such contractive condition. Our main result will extend and unify several known results in the existing literature and also brings some new results as consequences. Finally, we give an application of our main result to obtain a unique solution of an integral equation
