Open Archive of Dusty Artworks: Proposal of an Art Center in Lendava
Lendava je majhno obmejno mesto s pomembno in bogato, včasih burno zgodovino, ki je močno zaznamovano s kulturo in svojo edinstveno geografsko umeščenostjo. Zaradi dolgoletne tradicije likovnih kolonij se mesto sooča s pomanjkanjem prostora za shranjevanje in razstavljanje umetnin, kar ogroža ohranitev te dediščine. Hkrati so mnoge stavbe v mestnem središču, predvsem na Glavni ulici, zapuščene in propadajo, kar prispeva k degradaciji mestnega tkiva.
Magistrsko delo raziskuje možnosti integracije novih stavbnih struktur v staro mestno jedro. Poglavitni namen dela je obuditev javnega programa, ki bi dopolnil potrebe galerije v Lendavi. Dodatno pa bi pripomogel k rešitvi prostorske stiske in oživil zapostavljene dele mesta. Tako delo prispeva k celostnemu pristopu revitalizacije mesta in krepitvi njegove kulturne ponudbe.Lendava is a small border town with a rich and sometimes turbulent history, strongly characterised by its culture and unique geographical location. Due to its long- standing tradition of art colonies, the town faces a shortage of space for storing and exhibiting artworks, which threatens the preservation of this heritage. At the same time, many buildings in the town centre, particularly on Glavna ulica, are abandoned and deteriorating, contributing to the degradation of the urban landscape.
This master’s thesis explores the possibilities of integrating new architectural structures into the old town. With the main aim of creating an public programme that addresses the needs of the gallery in Lendava. Additionally, it aims to provide solutions for revitalising neglected parts of the city. In doing so, the work contributes to a holistic approach to the city’s revitalisation and the enhancement of its cultural offerings
Architecture as an Instrument - Conceptual Design of Kranj\u27s Concert hall
Magistrska naloga obravnava pomanjkanje koncertne dvorane v Kranju in priložnost za revitalizacijo degradiranega območja ob starem mestnem jedru. Kljub razširjeni glasbeni dejavnosti mesto Kranj nima ustreznega prostora za izvajanje raznovrstnih glasbenih produkcij, kar omejuje kulturno ponudbo in razvoj glasbene ustvarjalnosti. Lokacija v osrčju mesta, kjer je nekoč stala prva tovarna Sava, ponuja velik potencial za razvoj kulturnega središča. Nahaja se tik ob starem mestnem jedru in kanjonu reke Kokre ter je obdana s ključnimi mestnimi funkcijami. Uporablja se zgolj kot parkirišče, kar predstavlja luknjo v prostoru. Namen naloge je zasnovati prilagodljivo koncertno dvorano, ki rešuje ranljivo točko v mestnem središču ter uvaja drugačen pogled na zaznavanje glasbenega objekta v prostoru s pomočjo zvočnih inštalacij.
Rezultat je zasnova koncertne dvorane, ki združuje arhitekturo, glasbo in naravo. Dvorana se prilagaja različnim oblikam glasbenih produkcij, od koncertov klasične glasbe do koncertov sodobne glasbe ter manjših izvedb opere in baleta. Objekt dvorane vključuje prostore za vadbo in produkcijo glasbe, namenjene lokalnim glasbenikom, ter zvočne inštalacije, ki glasbo vnašajo v vsakdan mimoidočih. Delitev objekta na dva dela ustvari prehod, ki vzpostavi novo povezavo med mestom in kanjonom reke Kokre. Predlagana rešitev odgovarja na pomanjkanje kulturne infrastrukture in prispeva k oživitvi izbranega območja ter krepitvi kulturne identitete mesta Kranj.The master’s thesis examines the lack of a concert hall in Kranj and explores the opportunity for revitalizing a degraded area near the old town centre. Despite the city’s widespread musical activity, Kranj lacks a suitable venue for diverse musical performances, limiting cultural provision and the growth of musical creativity. Located at the heart of the city, where the first Sava factory once stood, this area holds great potential for the development of a cultural hub. It is positioned next to the old town centre and the Kokra River canyon, surrounded by key urban functions. However, the site is currently used solely as a parking lot, creating a gap in the urban fabric. The objective of this thesis is to design a flexible concert hall that addresses this vulnerable point in the city centre while offering a different perspective on the perception of a musical building within the urban landscape, through the use of sound installations. The proposed design combines architecture, music, and nature in a concert hall that adapts to a variety of musical productions, ranging from classical concerts to contemporary performances, as well as smaller opera and ballet performances. The building also includes spaces for rehearsal and music production intended for local musicians, along with sound installations that bring music into the everyday lives of passers-by. The division of the building into two sections creates a passage, establishing a new connection between the city and the Kokra River canyon. This solution not only addresses the lack of cultural infrastructure but also contributes to the revitalization of the area and the strengthening of cultural identity of Kranj
Impact of the menstrual cycle on oxidative stress, inflammation and iron status at high altitude
High altitude may alter redox balance and promote inflammation. It remains unclear if ovarian hormone fluctuations influence redox status. We sought to investigate the impact of menstrual cycle (MC) phases on oxidative stress, nitric oxide metabolism, inflammation, iron biomarkers and acute mountain sickness (AMS) during high altitude sojourns in eumenorrheic women. Venous blood samples were collected at low altitude (1224 m) and after one night at 3375 m (Rifugio Torino, inspired O pressure: 96 ± 1 mmHg) during both the early follicular (EF) and mid-luteal (ML) phases. At high altitude, xanthine oxidase (XO: 0.140 ± 0.077 vs. 0.165 ± 0.084 μmol L minp = 1.00), total nitrites and nitrates (NOx: 38.9 ± 10.8 vs. 32.8 ± 6.1 μmol Lp = 1.00), interleukin-6 (IL-6: 17.3 ± 13.6 vs. 14.5 ± 13.2 ng mLp = 1.00) and serum iron concentration (19.7 ± 6.8 vs. 22.1 ± 4.6 μmol Lp = 1.00) were not significantly different between EF and ML. However, total protein concentrations were significantly lower in EF compared to ML (75.5 ± 2.0 vs. 80.0 ± 5.1 g Lp = 0.010). No significant differences were observed in Lake Louise scores (AMS) between EF and ML (2.17 ± 1.64 vs. 1.50 ± 1.83p = 0.180). High-altitude exposure increased XO, IL-6 and erythropoietin levels and decreased NOx, when compared to low altitude. These findings suggest that redox balance, nitric oxide bioavailability, inflammation and iron homeostasis are not influenced by the MC at high altitude. Overall, susceptibility to AMS was similar across MC phases
Sodelovanje učiteljev in umetnikov pri poučevanju in učenju
The new dimension of a stimulating, open and innovative learning environment in education is recognised in the integrative collaboration of all those involved in the educational process. Such an environment provides children with a variety of contextual experiences to enter the symbolic world of culture and art. Collaboration between artists and teachers has been identified as an essential approach to improving the quality of planned arts practice in kindergartens and schools. In order to improve collaborative teaching between teachers and artists in Slovenian preschools and primary schools, a design-based research methodology was used. The paper presents a snapshot of the pre-intervention situation and the impact of interventions that involved teachers in collaborative work with artists and children’s participation in the educational process. The study involved 116 preschool teachers and 148 primary school teachers. The results showed the importance of involving artists in the educational process. By involving artists in the pedagogical process, teachers can gain information about how children can participate experientially and expressively in artistic experiences, which 1) relieves the burden of predetermined and overstructured curricular practices, 2) enables pupils to participate experientially and expressively in artistic experiences, 3) provides teachers with insight into children’s experiential and expressive capacities/ competences, and 4) provides artists with insight into the possibilities of integrating authentic artistic experiences into education.Nova dimenzija spodbudnega, odprtega in inovativnega učnega okolja v izobraževanju se kaže v povezovalnem sodelovanju vseh vključenih v izobraževalni proces. Takšno okolje otrokom nudi raznolike kontekstualne izkušnje vstopanja v simbolni svet kulture in umetnosti. Sodelovanje med umetniki in učitelji je opredeljeno kot bistveni pristop za izboljšanje kakovosti načrtovane umetniške prakse v vrtcih in šolah. Za izboljšanje sodelovanja med učitelji in umetniki v slovenskih vrtcih in osnovnih šolah je bila uporabljena raziskava načrtovanih novosti pri pouku. V prispevku je predstavljeno stanje pred skupnim poučevanjem vzgojiteljev/učiteljev in umetnikov ter po njem. V študijo je bilo vključenih 116 vzgojiteljev in 148 učiteljev. Rezultati kažejo na pozitivno vlogo vključevanja umetnikov v vzgojno-izobraževalni proces. Z vključevanjem umetnikov v vzgojno-izobraževalni proces lahko učitelji pridobijo informacije o tem, kako lahko otroci izkustveno in izrazno sodelujejo v umetniških izkušnjah, kar 1) zmanjša obremenjenost z vnaprej določenimi in preveč strukturiranimi kurikularnimi praksami2) omogoča učencem, da izkustveno in izrazno sodelujejo v umetniških izkušnjah3) učiteljem omogoča vpogled v izkustvene in izrazne sposobnosti/kompetence otrok4) umetnikom omogoča vpogled v možnosti vključevanja avtentičnih umetniških izkušenj v izobraževanje
Ozaveščanje čustva jeze ob branju slikanic v zgodnjem otroštvu
Eno temeljnih razvojnih področij v zgodnjem otroštvu je čustvenosocialni razvoj, saj se otroci čustva šele učijo prepoznati, poimenovati, razumeti in obvladovati, k čustvenemu opismenjevanju pa pomembno prispeva branje literarnih slikanic. V prispevku se ob slikanici Aksinje Kermauner in Kristine Krhin O miški, ki je oklofutala medveda osredinimo na prikaz jeze kot enega temeljnih in najtežje obvladljivih čustev ter predstavimo besedišče, s katerim predšolski otroci ponotranjijo jezikovne spretnosti za lažjo krepitev socialnočustvene kompetence.A key developmental domain in early childhood is emotional and social development because children are just learning how to recognize, label, understand, and regulate emotions. Literary picture books play a significant role in fostering emotional literacy. This article examines the depiction of anger—one of the primary and most challenging emotions to regulate—through the lens of the fairy tale O miški, ki je oklofutala medveda (The Little Mouse That Slapped the Bear) by Aksinja Kermauner and Kristina Krhin. Furthermore, it explores the vocabulary that allows preschool children to internalize verbal skills essential for the development and reinforcement of their socioemotional competence
Protikrizni ščiti kot sredstvo za utrditev oblasti
In Poland, the pandemic coincided with and exacerbated the existing rule of law crisis, which had been ongoing for several years. The paper explores the Polish government\u27s response to the COVID-19 pandemic through public policy tools known as Anti-Crisis Shields (ACS). These shields, initially designed to mitigate the pandemic\u27s negative economic impact, were also used by the right-wing Law and Justice (PiS) party as a strategic instrument to consolidate political power. By analysing government’s promotional content and policy implementation during the pandemic, the paper reveals how the government leveraged economic aid to strengthen its electoral base and reinforce its authority. The research addresses questions about the instrumentalisation of public policies for political gain, the manipulation of crisis narratives, a turbulent election campaign and the effects on democratic backsliding in Poland. Ultimately, the paper discusses how crisis management, when politically driven, can undermine democratic norms and accountabilityNa Poljskem je pandemija sovpadla z že dlje časa obstoječo krizo pravne države ter jo še zaostrila. Članek raziskuje odziv poljske vlade na pandemijo COVID-19 z orodji javne politike, znanimi kot protikrizni ščiti (ACS). Ščite, ki so bili prvotno namenjeni ublažitvi negativnega gospodarskega vpliva pandemije, je uporabila tudi desničarska stranka Zakon in pravičnost (PiS) kot strateški instrument za utrjevanje politične moči. Z analizo vladne promocijske vsebine in izvajanja politike med pandemijo prispevek razkriva, kako je vlada izkoristila gospodarsko pomoč za okrepitev svoje volilne baze in avtoritete. Raziskava obravnava vprašanja o instrumentalizaciji javnih politik za politične koristi, manipulaciji kriznih narativov, turbulentni volilni kampanji in učinkih na procese demokratičnega nazadovanja na Poljskem. Navsezadnje članek razpravlja tudi o tem, kako lahko krizno upravljanje, kadar je politično usmerjeno, spodkopava demokratične norme in odgovornost
Univerzalno načrtovana trajnostna in zelena stavba za zdravje in dobro počutje
Visokošolski učbenik Univerzalno načrtovana trajnostna in zelena stavba za zdravje in dobro počutje obravnava temeljne koncepte, cilje, načela in zakonodaj¬ne zahteve univerzalnega načrtovanja zdrave in udobne stavbe ter ponuja prak¬tične smernice za implementacijo v projektantski praksi. Namenjen je študentom gradbeništva, delovne terapije, sanitarnega inženirstva, arhitekture ter vsem stro¬kovnjakom, ki sodelujejo pri multidisciplinarnem načrtovanju in gradnji stavb. In¬formacije so uporabne tudi za oblikovalce politik in zakonodajalce, saj prispevajo k ustvarjanju vključujočega, varnega, zdravega in trajnostnega grajenega okolja, ki koristi vsem – še posebej ranljivim skupinam, kot so starejši, otroci, invalidi in osebe z začasnimi omejitvami.
Predlagane rešitve so usmerjene na izbrane cilje trajnostnega razvoja (TSG), opre¬deljene v Agendi 2030 Organizacije združenih narodov, in sicer: cilj 1 – odprava revščine, cilj 3 – zdravje in dobro počutje, cilj 9 – industrija, inovacije in infrastruk¬tura, cilj 10 – zmanjšanje neenakosti ter cilj 11 – trajnostna mesta in skupnosti
Artificial water accumulations for snowmaking on Eastern Pohorje (Slovenia)
Umetni vodni habitati so lahko za dvoživke mesta za razmnoževanje kot tudi ekološke pasti. Vodne akumulacije za umetno zasneževanje niso optimalni habitati za dvoživke in o njihovem razmnoževanju v teh vodnih telesih je malo znanega. V raziskavi smo dvoživke vzorčili v dveh akumulacijah za umetno zasneževanje na območju Mariborskega Pohorja. Ena se nahaja ob vznožju Pohorja (312 m nmv) v urbanem okolju, druga pa na pobočju Pohorja (560 m nmv), obdana z gozdom, ki je del Natura 2000 območja Pohorje. V akumulacijah smo skupno potrdili razmnoževanje sedmih vrst dvoživk: velikega pupka (Triturus carnifex), planinskega pupka (Ichthyosaura alpestris), navadnega pupka (Lissotriton vulgaris), hribskega urha (Bombina variegata), navadne krastače (Bufo bufo), sekulje (Rana temporaria) in rosnice (Rana dalmatina). Hribski urh in veliki pupek spadata med kvalifikacijske vrste za Natura 2000 območje Pohorje. V akumulaciji ob vznožju Pohorja, v kateri so bile tudi ribe, razmnoževanje dvoživk ni bilo uspešno. V akumulaciji na pobočju Pohorja, kjer rib ni bilo, sta strma brežina (30-60°) iz nepokrite geomembrane in nizka gladina vode povzročili pogin odraslih hribskih urhov in številnih (> 500) mladih osebkov rjavih žab. Upad gladine vode je povzročil tudi propad jajc in zarodkov velikega pupka. Akumulaciji za zasneževanje sta iz več vidikov neprimerni za dvoživke, vendar jih te kljub temu uporabljajo za razmnoževanje. Za zmanjšanje poginov dvoživk bi bili potrebni naslednji ukrepi: ohranjanje maksimalnega vodostaja v času razmnoževanja (marec-julij), prekritje geomembrane z nedrsečim materialom in zmanjšanje naklona brežine akumulacije, kar bi dvoživkam olajšalo izhod iz akumulacije, odstranitev rib z jesenskim praznjenjem akumulacije ter preprečevanje povozov na cestah ob akumulaciji.Artificial water habitats can be breeding sites for amphibians but may also function as ecological traps. Water accumulations for artificial snowmaking are not optimal habitats for amphibians, and little is known about their reproduction in these water bodies. In this study, we sampled amphibians in two accumulations for snowmaking in the Mariborsko Pohorje area. One is located at the foothills of Pohorje (312 m a.s.l.) in an urban environment, and the other on the slopes of Pohorje (560 m a.s.l.), surrounded by forest that is part of the Natura 2000 Pohorje. In total, we confirmed the reproduction of seven amphibian species in these accumulations: Italian Crested Newt (Triturus carnifex), Alpine Newt (Ichthyosaura alpestris), Smooth Newt (Lissotriton vulgaris), Yellow-bellied Toad (Bombina variegata), Common Toad (Bufo bufo), Common Frog (Rana temporaria), and Agile Frog (Rana dalmatina). The Yellow-bellied Toad and the Italian Crested Newt are qualifying species for the Natura 2000 Pohorje site. In the accumulation at the foothill of Pohorje, where fish were present, amphibian reproduction was unsuccessful. In the accumulation on the slope of Pohorje, where there were no fish, the steep banks (30-60°) with uncovered geomembrane and the low water level led to the mortality of adult Yellow-bellied Toads and numerous (>500) juvenile Rana sp. frogs. The drop in water level also resulted in the stranding of eggs and embryos of the Italian Crested Newt. Snowmaking reservoirs are unsuitable for amphibians in several respects, yet they still use them for breeding. To reduce amphibian mortality, the following measures should be implemented: maintaining maximum water levels during the breeding season (March-July), covering the geomembrane and reducing the bank steepness to facilitate amphibian exit, removing fish through autumn reservoir drainage, and preventing roadkill on roads adjacent to the reservoirs
Uspešno čiščenje DNK iz agaroznih čepkov PFGE za sekvenciranje celotnega genoma
Whole-genome sequencing (WGS) has replaced Pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE)-based bacterial genotyping as the reference genotyping method. We investigated the suitability of purified genomic DNA extracted from PFGE agarose plugs stored in a laboratory collection for WGS in cases where bacterial isolates are no longer available. Our study has shown that bacterial WGS can be successfully performed on DNA extracted from PFGE agarose plugs.Sekvenciranje celotnega genoma (WGS) je nadomestilo tipizacijo bakterij na osnovi gelske pulzne elektroforeze (PFGE) kot referenčne metode genotipizacije. Raziskali smo primernost genomske DNA, očiščene iz agaroznih čepkov PFGE, shranjenih v laboratorijski zbirki, za WGS v primerih, ko bakterijski izolati niso več na voljo. Naša študija je pokazala, da je bakterijski WGS mogoče uspešno izvesti na DNA, očiščeni iz agaroznih čepkov PFGE
