Stripovska reprezentacija jeze, žalosti, strahu in gnusa med prejemniki zlate hruške med letoma 2016 in 2024

    No full text
Prispevek preučuje reprezentacije osnovnih negativnih čustev (jeze, žalosti, strahu in gnusa) v otroških stripih, ki so med letoma 2016 in 2024 prejeli priznanje zlata hruška. Kvantitativna analiza obsega preučevanje vizualnih in besednih izrazov teh čustev ter prikaže njihovo pogostnost, način izražanja in konkretne primere. Na podlagi rezultatov in teoretičnih izhodišč literarne empatije v diskusiji razpravljava o tem, katera osnovna negativna čustva se pojavljajo najpogosteje, s katerimi verbalno-vizualnimi sredstvi se izražajo in zakaj. This article focuses on the representation of the basic negative emotions (anger, sadness, fear, and disgust) in children’s comics that have received the Ljubljana City Library’s Golden Pear award between 2016 and 2024. The quantitative analysis examines the visual and verbal expressions of these emotions and highlights their frequency, modes of expression, and specific examples. Based on the findings and the theoretical framework of literary empathy, the discussion considers which of the basic negative emotions appears most frequently, which verbal-visual means they are expressed through, and why

Thermal field theory correlators in the large-N limit and the spectral duality relation

    No full text
In ref. [1], we derived a spectral duality relation applicable to the spectra of 3d conformal field theories (CFTs) and their holographically dual 4d black holes. In this work, we further elaborate on the properties of this duality relation and argue that the same relation can be applied to certain pairs of thermal correlator spectra in large-N quantum field theories in any number of spacetime dimensions, provided the correlators are meromorphic functions with only simple poles and satisfy the thermal product formula. We discuss a rich set of properties that such retarded two-point functions must exhibit. We then show that the spectral duality relation and its implications apply to pairs of correlators in double-trace deformed CFTs and, more generally, to correlators in theories related by the Legendre transform. We illustrate, through several examples, how the spectrum of one correlator can be reconstructed from that of its dual correlation function. Notably, this includes cases relating the thermal spectra of scalar primary operators at ultraviolet and infrared fixed points, as well as current operators in a CFT3_3 and its particle-vortex dual

Influence of copper, calcium and strontium on the formation of quasicrystals in Al-Mn-based alloys

    No full text
In this study, the effect of adding calcium or strontium to Al-Mn and Al-Mn-Cu alloys on the formation of quasicrystals (QCs) is investigated. The alloys were cast in a massive copper mould with a cavity diameter of 3 mm. The cast alloys were characterised by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, and electron backscatter diffraction. The addition of either calcium or strontium to Al-Mn and Al-Mn-Cu alloys promotes the formation of icosahedral QCs (IQCs). The results also show that neither calcium or strontium are integral part of the QC phases formed in these alloys. The results further indicate considerable differences in the composition of decagonal QC (DQC) phases in Al-Mn-Cu alloys without and with either calcium or strontium, whereas the electron-atom ratio according to Mizutani shows almost negligible differences. The effectiveness of calcium and strontium in promoting the formation of IQCs is attributed to a reduced surface tension of the Al-based melt. This consequently leads to a decrease in the critical radius for nucleation of IQCs

This thesis addresses the issue of the loss of identity in the coastal landscape of southern Dalmatia through the case study of the former military resort in Kupari, one of the most compelling complexes of Yugoslav tourist heritage. The research is grounded in a personal and spatial experience of tourist architecture, which is further expanded through an analysis of the social, historical, and planning context of Župa dubrovačka, where Kupari is located. The thesis traces the layering of identity from its agrarian and peripheral origins, through historicist and collective phases, to its peak embodied in Yugoslav modernism and its subsequent collapse during the Croatian War of Independence. Special attention is devoted to the typological development of hotel architecture along the Adriatic coast and to the role of tourism as an ideological, economic, and spatial catalyst. The analysis demonstrates that Yugoslav tourism produced open, publicly accessible, and landscape-integrated spaces whose values are today threatened by globalized, consumption-driven socio-spatial development. The ruins of Kupari are therefore understood as carriers of collective memory and spatial potential, rather than as empty or obsolete heritage. Based on a comprehensive evaluation of spatial, architectural, and landscape qualities, the thesis develops a revitalization project that conceptualizes the resort as a hybrid urban and tourist center. The proposed design is based on preservation, reinterpretation, and selective demolition, whereby three hotels—Grand, Pelegrin, and Goričina—are addressed through different approaches: discreet renovation, reconstruction, and the presentation of ruins. The project seeks to re-establish a balance between tourism and the local community and positions architecture as a tool for restoring identity, continuity, and public space within a fragile coastal environment

Comparison of culture-dependent and culture-independent methods for routine identification of airborne microorganisms in speleotherapeutic caves

    No full text
The effective identification of bacterial and fungal isolates is essential for microbiological monitoring in environments like speleotherapeutic caves. This study compares MALDI-TOF MS and the OmniLog ID System, two high-throughput culture-based identification methods. MALDI-TOF MS identified 80.0% of bacterial isolates to the species level, while the OmniLog ID System identified 92.9%. However, species-level matches between the methods were only 48.8%, revealing considerable discrepancies. For discrepant results, MALDI-TOF MS matched molecular identification at the genus level in 90.5% of cases, while the OmniLog ID System matched only in 28.6%, demonstrating MALDI-TOF MS’s superiority. The OmniLog ID System had difficulties identifying genera from the order Micrococcales. Fungal identification success with MALDI-TOF MS was 30.6% at the species level, potentially improvable with a customised spectral library, compared to the OmniLog ID System’s 16.7%. Metagenomic approaches detected around 100 times more microbial taxa than culture-based methods, highlighting human-associated microorganisms, especially Staphylococcus spp. In addition to Staphylococcus spp. and Micrococcus spp. as indicators of cave anthropisation, metagenomics revealed another indicator, Cutibacterium acnes. This study advocates a multi-method approach combining MALDI-TOF MS, the OmniLog ID System, culture-based, and metagenomic analyses for comprehensive microbial identification. Metagenomic sampling on nitrocellulose filters provided superior read quality and microbial representation over liquid sampling, making it preferable for cave air sample collection

Tematizacija in prezentacija ljubezni na primeru Pohorskih poti Janka Glazerja

    No full text
Čustvo ljubezni je v Glazerjevi poeziji ubesedeno v eksplicitni in implicitni obliki, slednje zlasti z motivi in leksiko Pohorja, metaforami in s prototipsko simboliko letnih časov. This article draws from the assumption that emotions in a literary text contain subjective and intersubjective dimensions, which means that emotions are not entirely psychophysical phenomena, but are also culturally coded. The thematization and presentation of love in selected poems by Janko Glazer reflect an interplay between the poet’s subjectivity and poetics, and the cultural characteristics (conventions, rules, moral norms, literary styles, etc.) of the period. In Glazer’s poetry, love is verbalized in explicit and implicit forms, the latter especially with the themes and lexis of the Pohorje Mountains, metaphors, and the prototypical symbolism of the seasons

ON/OFF razmerje) za 4,35 %. S kombiniranim pristopom, pri katerem smo PCM vgradili na vsa tri strateška mesta, smo dosegli zmanjšanje povprečne hladilne moči za 58,2 % ter 84,78 % povečanje ON/OFF razmerja. In this master’s thesis, we investigated the potential for enhancing the energy efficiency of a household refrigerator-freezer by utilising phase change materials (PCMs). We developed a system for experimental analysis of the operation of a converted refrigerator-freezer under real conditions, with PCMs installed in several strategic locations: between the evaporator fins, between the evaporator and the rear wall of the freezer compartment, and in the cooling air guide channel. We analysed the impact of PCMs with phase transition temperatures of 2 C,0C, 0 C,21C, –21 C,and24C, and –24 ^°$Con the operation of the refrigerator. The installation of PCMs in the evaporator resulted in a 19.1 % reduction in the cooling capacity of the system and a 4.35 % increase in the ratio between the average compressor on-time and the full cycle (the so-called ON/OFF ratio). Using a combined approach, in which PCMs were installed in all three strategic locations, we achieved a 58.2 % reduction in the average cooling capacity and an 84.78 % increase in the ON/OFF ratio

In this master’s thesis, we investigated the effect of blue laser light with a wavelength of 445 nm on blood coagulation. Due to its higher absorption in hemoglobin compared to green laser light (532 nm), blue light proves more effective in stopping bleeding. The aim of the study was to experimentally determine key interaction parameters for reliable and non-ablative blood coagulation. We developed an experimental system featuring synchronized operation of a high-speed thermal camera and an ultra-fast visible-spectrum camera, enabling precise monitoring of temperature and optical changes during the process. Based on the analysis of the recordings, we determined the temperature thresholds for the onset of coagulation and ablation and tracked optical changes in the blood. We identified a safe coagulation temperature window (85–145 °C) and established fluence thresholds for its onset at different laser powers (3.1–4.5 J/cm2cm^2). Additionally, we defined the fluence thresholds for the transition to ablation, which ranged from 13.6 to 23.9 J/cm2cm^2. The developed methodology enables detailed analysis of the coagulation process and provides a solid foundation for further development of clinical applications of blue laser light in bleeding control
