    Effects of inquiry-based learning about light on the science literacy of seventh graders

    Magistrsko delo obravnava vpliv učenja z raziskovanjem pri obravnavi svetlobe na naravoslovno pismenost sedmošolcev. Izhodišče raziskave predstavljajo trije gradniki naravoslovne pismenosti, opredeljeni v okviru projekta NA-MA POTI: i) naravoslovnoznanstveno razlaganje pojavovii) naravoslovnoznanstveno raziskovanje, interpretiranje podatkov in dokazov ter iii) odnos do naravoslovja. Raziskava je bila izvedena z metodo kvazieksperimenta v dveh skupinah učenceveksperimentalna skupina je vsebine o svetlobi obravnavala po metodi učenja z raziskovanjem, medtem ko je kontrolna skupina sledila tradicionalnemu pouku. Učenci so pred in po izvedbi pouka reševali preizkuse znanja ter izpolnjevali vprašalnike o stališčih in doživljanju pouka. Rezultati raziskave so pokazali, da se med učenci kontrolne in eksperimentalne skupine na predtestu niso pojavljale statistično pomembne razlike v povprečnem številu doseženih točk, kar pomeni, da sta bili skupini pred izvedbo učnih ur primerljivi glede začetnega znanja. Prav tako se niso pojavljale statistično pomembne razlike v povprečnem številu doseženih točk na potestu, a so učenci eksperimentalne skupine po izvedbi učnih ur dosegli nekoliko višje povprečno število doseženih točk v primerjavi z učenci kontrolne skupine. To nakazuje, da je učenje z raziskovanjem prispevalo k izboljšanju naravoslovne pismenosti učencev, zlasti pri nalogah višje kognitivne ravni, ki so zahtevale uporabo znanstvenoraziskovalnega mišljenja in prenos pridobljenega znanja v nove kontekste. Rezultati so prav tako pokazali, da se med skupinama pred izvedbo učnih ur pojavljajo statistično pomembne razlike v stališčih do pouka naravoslovja. Po izvedbi učnih ur analiza odgovorov ni pokazala statistično pomembnih razlik v stališčih do pouka naravoslovja, so pa učenci eksperimentalne skupine izrazili višjo stopnjo interesa za obravnavane vsebine. Ugotovitve raziskave prispevajo k razumevanju učinkov raziskovalnega pouka k poučevanju naravoslovja in lahko služijo kot primer dobre za izboljšanje kakovosti poučevanja.The master\u27s thesis explores the impact of inquiry-based learning on the topic of lights on seventh-graders\u27 science literacy skills. The research is based on three key components of scientific literacy, as defined by the NA-MA POTI project: i) scientific explanation of phenomena, ii) scientific research, interpretation of data and evidence, and iii) attitude toward science. The study was conducted using a quasi-experimental method involving two groups of students. The experimental group was taught the topic of light through inquiry-based learning, while the control group followed a traditional teaching approach. Before and after the lessons, students took tests and filled out questionnaires about their attitudes and experiences with the science lessons. The research results showed that there was no statistically significant difference in the average number of points achieved between the control and experimental groups on the pre-test, which means that the two groups were comparable in terms of initial knowledge before the lessons. Similarly, there was no statistically significant difference in the average number of points achieved on the post-test, however, students in the experimental group achieved slightly higher average scores compared to the control group. This indicates that inquiry-based learning contributed to the improvement of students\u27 scientific literacy, particularly in tasks of higher cognitive levels that required the use of scientific-research thinking and the transfer of acquired knowledge to new contexts. Results also showed that there was a statistically significant difference in attitudes towards science education between the two groups before the lessons were given. After the lessons, the analysis of the responses did not show a statistically significant difference in attitudes towards science classes, but the students in the experimental group expressed a higher level of motivation and interest in the content being taught. The research findings contribute to the understanding the effects of inquiry-based teaching on science education and may serve as an example of good practice for improving the quality of teaching

    Thematic shifts in translation: the case of Slovene translations of Leonardo da Vinci’s Fables and legends

    Prispevek na primeru izbranih slovenskih prevodov Basni in legend Leonarda da Vincija analizira prevodne tematske premike, njihovo obveznost in druge prevodne spremembe, ki jih spremljajo. Analiza je pokazala, da je v prevedenih besedilih tematskih premikov manj od ohranjenih tematskih razmerij. Tematski premiki so tipološko raznovrstni in povezani z drugimi prevodnimi spremembami, kot so različne pretvorbe, prerazporeditve, izpusti ali vpeljave novih besedilnih elementov. Kot njihova posledica se na mestu ciljnih tem pojavljajo tipološko, zgradbeno in/ali vsebinsko drugačni elementi, ki deloma spreminjajo tematsko oblikovanje besedila. Večina tematskih premikov je posledica prevajalčevih subjektivnih odločitev, manj pogosto tematske premike narekujejo sistemske razlike med italijanščino in slovenščino.The paper analyses thematic translation shifts, their obligatoriness and other translation changes that accompany them based on selected Slovene translations of Leonardo da Vinci’s Fables and Legends. The analysis shows that in the translated texts the number of thematic shifts is lower than the number of preserved thematic relations. The thematic shifts are typologically diverse and related to other translation changes, such as various transformations, rearrangements, omissions or additions of new textual elements. Because of these shifts, typologically, structurally and/or seman-tically different elements appear as target themes, partly changing the the-matic structuring of the text. Most thematic shifts can be considered a result of the translator’s subjective choices, although some were dictated by the systemic differences between Italian and Slovene

    Work has changed, has HRM?

    This paper addresses the growing misalignment between traditional human resource management (HRM) systems and the realities of distributed, fluid, and fragmented work. To address this issue, we introduce the FLUID-HRM framework—a layered design architecture that reconfigures core HRM domains (resourcing, rewards, development, relations, work systems) across onsite, hybrid, and distributed forms of work. The framework is anchored in five structural principles of fluidity: spatial flexibil- ity, temporal desynchronization, employment multiplicity, identity fragmentation, and digital mediation. For each, we propose differentiated HRM responses and corresponding information system (IS) infrastructures. Rather than retrofitting core legacy models, FLUID-HRM offers a principle-based approach for designing ethical, effective, and inclusive people systems in bound- aryless work environments. By linking structural challenges to HRM innovation, we extend foundational HRM theory and provide actionable guidance for organizations navigating the transformation of work

    The role of artificial intelligence in digital innovation

    Umetna inteligenca (UI) se je v zadnjih letih razvila v revolucionarno tehnologijo, ki preoblikuje panoge in spodbuja inovacije na različnih področjih. S svojo zmožnostjo analiziranja ogromnih količin podatkov, prepoznavanja vzorcev in optimiziranja kompleksnih procesov, je UI postala ključna za izboljšanje učinkovitosti, zniževanje stroškov ter omogočanje prebojnih dosežkov. Ta članek preučuje vlogo UI pri treh vrstah digitalnih inovacij: (1) digitalnih inovacijah procesov, (2) digitalnih inovacijah proizvodov in storitev ter (3) digitalnih inovacijah poslovnih modelov. S sistematičnim pregledom literature ugotavljamo, da UI omogoča avtomatizacijo in optimizacijo procesov, razvoj personaliziranih izdelkov in storitev ter preoblikovanje načinov ustvarjanja in zajemanja vrednosti. Članek ponuja tudi praktične smernice za uvajanje UI v poslovno prakso, pri čemer izpostavlja pomen postopnega uvajanja, vključevanja zaposlenih in podatkovno vodenega odločanja. Na koncu opozarja na potrebo po organizacijskih spremembah za uspešno integracijo UI in trajnostni razvoj podjetij.     Integration of a Rotary Encoder as an Input Device in a Raspberry Pi System Using a Linux Kernel Driver

    V diplomski nalogi je predstavljen razvoj jedrnega gonilnika za rotacijski kodirnik, priključen na Raspberry Pi 4 Model B preko GPIO vmesnika. Gonilnik napravo integrira v vhodni podsistem operacijskega sistema Linux kot vhodno enoto, kar omogoča zaznavanje rotacije in pritiska. Cilj naloge je prikazati, kako je mogoče preprosto mehansko vhodno napravo učinkovito vključiti v Linux na nizki ravni. Rešitev je namenjena uporabi v izobraževalnem in raziskovalnem okolju, saj temelji na odprtokodnih tehnologijah in sledi uveljavljenim pristopom razvoja v jedru Linux.This thesis presents the development of a Linux kernel driver for a rotary encoder connected to a Raspberry Pi 4 Model B via GPIO. The driver integrates the device into the Linux input subsystem as a standard input unit, enabling detection of rotation and button press events. The goal is to demonstrate how a simple mechanical input device can be effectively supported at kernel level using modern, open-source development practices. The resulting solution is intended for educational and research use, and follows best practices for device driver implementation within the Linux kernel

    S tavbe moderne arhitekture predstavljajo pomembno dediščino in simbolizirajo inovativnost ter družbeni napredek časa. Zaznamujejo jih edinstven arhitekturni slog, materiali in oblikovalske rešitve. Stavbe so zgrajene, da ohranjajo svojo izvirnost in zgodovinsko vrednsot, obenem pa predstavljao drgaocen prispevek h kulturni krajni. Skozi zaščitene stavbe moderne arhitekture lahko spoznavamo prelomne ideje, estetiko in tehnične inovacije, ki so oblikovale našo sodobno družbo. Vendar pa so zelo redki objekti iz obdobja moderne arhitekture na Slovenksem, ki imajo priznan status kulture dediščine. Marsikateri med njimi, ki pa je zaščiten, je v čakanju svoje usode in strokovne prenove predan propadu časa. S projektom poizkušam obdržati del Slovenkse moderne arhitekture, ter jo v njenem duhu ohranjati z raziskovanjem radikalne prenovo z novo vsebino. Kjer bi garažni hišib iz težke, hladne betosnke konstruckije, vlilv nov pridih bivanja, z ozelenitvijo, lesenim in stekleno implementacijo. Menim, da bo v prihodnje vse več projektov, ki bodo objektom, ki ne služijo več svoji prvotni nalogi, vlivali nov dih življenja. Z revitalizacijo objekta bi vplival na problematiko pomanjkaja dostopnih stanovnja za študente. Projekt je zasnovan v duhu Severjeve ideologije, kot sem jo sam prepoznal in izkusil skozi analizo njegovih del. Racionalna arhitektura, brez nepotrebnih elementov. Vsak element služi svojemu namenu.Modern architecture represents a significant part of our cultural heritage, symbolizing the innovation and social progress of the 20th century. Characterized by distinctive architectural styles, materials, and design approaches, these buildings reflect the originality, historical value, and aesthetic principles of their time. Through the preservation of modern architecture, we gain insight into the ideas, technical advancements, and societal changes that have shaped our contemporary environment. In Slovenia, however, only a small number of modernist buildings have been officially recognized as cultural heritage. Many of them, even those under protection, have deteriorated over time due to neglect and delayed renovation. This project seeks to preserve a segment of Slovenian modernist architecture by exploring radical renovation and adaptive reuse. The aim is to breathe new life into outdated structures — for example, transforming a heavy, cold concrete garage into a livable space through the integration of greenery, wood, and glass. Beyond preservation, the project also addresses the broader issue of accessible student housing. It is conceived in the spirit of architect Savin Sever, whose work I studied in depth. Following his rational design principles, every element in the project serves a clear function, with no superfluous additions — a reflection of a minimalist, purpose-driven architectural ideology

    Marine debris detection using deep learning approaches

    V diplomskem delu je obravnavan problem semantične segmentacije morskega okolja iz satelitskih posnetkov Sentinel-2 s posebnim poudarkom na zaznavanju plavajočih plastičnih odpadkov, ki predstavljajo majhne, redke in težko zaznavne strukture. Začetna analiza je pokazala omejitve izhodiščnega modela UNet pri razločevanju redkih razredov ter pri zaznavanju objektov, ki obsegajo le nekaj pikslov. Na podlagi podrobne vizualne in podatkovne analize napak so bile preizkušene različne izboljšave, vključno z razširitvijo arhitekture, uporabo alternativnih funkcij izgube in bolj kompleksnimi arhitekturami. Najboljše rezultate je dosegla različica UNet z večjim številom skritih kanalov in kombinacijo križne entropije ter Diceove izgube. Predlagana izboljšava bistveno izboljša segmentacijo redkih in zahtevnih razredov in preseže izhodiščni model pri vseh uporabljenih metrikah.The thesis addresses the problem of semantic segmentation of marine environments from Sentinel-2 satellite imagery, the focus being on detecting floating marine debris, which represents small, sparse structures that are difficult to detect. The initial analysis revealed limitations of the baseline UNet model in distinguishing rare classes and in detecting objects spanning only a few pixels. Based on a detailed visual and data-driven error analysis, several improvements were explored, including architectural expansion, the use of alternative loss functions, and more complex network architectures. The best performance was achieved by a modified UNet model with an increased number of hidden channels and a combined loss function (cross-entropy + Dice loss). The proposed improvement significantly enhances the segmentation of rare and challenging classes and outperforms the baseline model across all evaluated metrics

    Ljubljanska Sibirija je območje, ki zaradi svoje lege predstavlja velik potencial za razvoj ljubljanskega predmestja. V bližnji prihodnosti so tu načrtovane mnoge razširitve stanovanjskega tkiva, kljub temu pa je to prostor mnogih pomanjkljivosti, o katerih je vredno razmišljati, saj je vsak prostor omejena dobrina, s katero je treba ravnati odgovorno. Magistrska naloga raziskuje 4 tematike, ki neposredno nagovarjajo probleme, prepoznane na obravnavanem območju ter predvidi celostni pristop razvoja in načrtovanja projektne rešitve, kot odgovor na pomanjkljivosti izbrane projektne lokacije. Te so revitalizacija degradiranega območja, (so)bivati z vodo, javno v zasebnem in infrastruktura = arhitektura. Naloga predlaga vzpostavitev novega družbenega kompleksa, ki združuje športne, rekreacijske, kulturne, prostočasne in vzgojno-izobraževalne dejavnosti na območju, ki je danes prepoznano kot funkcionalno degradirano. Tako, se ta prostor revitalizira in popestri z novim javnim programom, ki vlije novo življenje v območje, kjer prevladuje stanovanjska raba. Poleg tega se danes izbrana lokacija uporablja za izgradnjo infrastrukturnih objektov, ki so potrebni za delovanje naselja, vendar so v prostor postavljeni precej brezobzirno, brez razmisleka o bodočem razvoju. Naloga predvidi inkorporacijo potrebnih infrastrukturnih objektov v samo zasnovo projektne rešitve, tako da je prostor smotrno oblikovan kot premišljena celota. Pomembna značilnost izbrane lokacije je lega ob reki, ki je bila zaradi velike poplavne ogroženosti območja obdana z visokovodnimi zidovi ter povsem odrezana od območja in ljudi. Ključni del naloge, ki povezuje vse tematike, pa je protipoplavna zasnova projektne rešitve, ki se ukvarja z vprašanji, kako sobivati z vodo, kako jo pribiližati ljudem ter kako se zaščititi pred njo ob nastopu poplav.Ljubljana’s Sibirija is an area that due to its location, represents great potential for the future developement of Ljubljana’s suburbs. Many expansions of residential areas are planned here in the near future, but it is nevertheless a place with many shortcomings that are worth considering, as space is a limited resource that must be used responsibly. The master\u27s thesis explores 4 topics that directly address the problems identified in the area of consideration and proposes a comprehensive approach to the development and planning of a project solution as a response to the shortcomings of the selected project location. These are revitalization of a degraded area, living with water, public in private, infrastructure = architecture. The thesis proposes the establishment of a new social complex that combines sports, recreational, cultural, leisure and educational activities in an area that is today recognized as functionally degraded. This would revitalize and diversify the area with a new public programme that would breathe new life into an area dominated by residential use. In addition, the selected location is currently being used for the construction of infrastructure facilities necessary for the settlement to function, which have been recklessly placed on site, without consideration for future development. The thesis proposes the incorporation of the infrastructure facilities into the design of the project itself, so that the space is cohesively designed as a whole.An important feature of the selected location is its position by the river, which, due to the high flood risk in the area, has been surrounded by high flood walls and completely cut off from the area and the people. The key part of this thesis represents the flood resistant building design, which addresses issues such as how to coexist with water, how to bring it closer to people, and how to protect against it when flooding occurs

    Za slovenščino so na voljo oz. v procesu gradnje štirje besedilni korpusi, ki vsebujejo oznake jezikovnih popravkov: Šolar, KOST, Lektor in STIKit. Popravki v teh korpusih so označeni po različnih označevalnih sistemih, prilagojenih specifikam korpusnega gradiva. Prispevek analizira označevalne sisteme, identificira podobnosti in razlike v označevalnih kategorijah in opredeli možnosti za medsebojne preslikave oznak ter primerjalne analize korpusnega gradiva.For Slovenian, four text corpora that contain linguistic error annotations are available or under construction: Šolar, KOST, Lektor, and STIKit. The errors and corrections in these corpora are labeled with different annotation systems, each adapted to the specific characteristics of the corpus material. This article analyses the systems, identifying similarities and differences in the annotation categories, and it explores possibilities for label-mapping and comparative analyses of the corpus material

Prispevek obravnava primere vpliva angleščine v sodobnem medijskem jeziku (RTV Slovenija), ki so nastali ob tujejezični predlogi ali brez nje, in vlogo lektorja ob tem.In today’s digitalized, globalized society, the influence of English as the language of science, politics, and popular culture is reflected in the adoption of its elements at all linguistic levels, most obviously in the use of loanwords and calques. This article deals with examples of English influence on modern media language (RTV Slovenija) in translated and original Slovenian texts, and the role of a copyeditor in this regard
