Measurements and simulations for the redesign of SPECTRAP : Magnetic Field Modelling and Resonant Circuit Characterisation
The SPECTRAP experiment at GSI aims to perform spectroscopy of highly charged ions cooled to cryogenic temperatures. In light of the magnet failure a few years ago, the SPECTRAP experiment is in need of a redesign. This work presents a finite element computer model of the magnetic field from the superconducting magnet used in SPECTRAP. This model was used to compute field homogeneity, as well as magnetic field isosurfaces for 0.5, 5 and 10 Gauss. Additionally a helical resonator was constructed and characterised, to be used for non-destructive ion detection and cooling. The resonator has a resonant frequency of around 41.5 Mrad/s and a quality factor of about 200 at the planned operating temperature
3D discrete fracture network modelling of multiphysical processes in fractured media : recent advances and future prospects
This Mini Review provides a focused and up-to-date summary of recent advancements in 3D discrete fracture network (DFN) modelling for simulating coupled thermo-hydro-mechanical-chemical processes in fractured rocks, which are crucial for various geotechnical engineering-related challenges. Particular emphasis is placed on recent developments in 3D DFN modelling technologies, which have enabled more realistic and detailed representations of fracture topologies, interactions, and multiphysics couplings. We highlight key advances in simulating complex multiphysical processes and phenomena in 3D fractured geological media such as flow channelling, stress fluctuation, fracture interaction, and anomalous transport. Despite these advances, significant challenges remain—especially in multiscale representation, mesh generation, model calibration, computational efficiency, and integration with field observational data. The review concludes by identifying current research gaps and proposing future directions aimed at enhancing model realism, advancing the simulation of multiscale multiphysical processes, and expanding the applicability of DFN models to real-world geological and geotechnical engineering challenges

Pulling of straight glass rods into focusing capillaries
Målet med det här projektet är att ta fram en produkt för att kunna dra ut raka glasrör till fokuserande kapillärer. De fokuserande kapillärerna kommer sedan användas för att transportera och fokusera UV-ljus i vakuum. För att ta fram en produkt som klarar det behövdes först en litteraturstudie och intervju genomföras för att samla in kundbehov. Behoven kunde sedan bearbetas om till produktkrav. Utifrån produktkraven togs ett antal koncept fram. Ett av koncepten valdes ut för att vidareutvecklas till en färdig modell i CAD. Produkten består av undergrupperna ram, dragningsanordning, rotering av glasrör och brännare. Ramen är byggd likt en ställning och alla andra delar är fästa på den. Dragningen utförs av tre kulskruvar som drivs av en motor och är sammankopplade av en drivrem. I båda änderna av glasröret så roteras det med hjälp av varsin stegmotor som är direkt kopplad till chuckarna. Brännaren drivs på gasol och har en rund öppning som är riktad inåt direkt mot glasröret. Produkten togs fram praktiskt genom verkstadsarbete med svarv och fräs och genom inköp av standardkomponenter. En första prototyp av produkten kunde genomgå ett fåtal tester för att bekräfta den teoretiska modellen. Utifrån resultaten av testerna bör produkten klara av att möta alla produktkrav, men mer testning behövs. The goal of this project is to develop a product that can pull straight glass tubes into focusing capillaries. The focusing capillaries will be used to transport and focus UV-light in vacuum. To develop a product that meets the requirements a literature study and interview to gather customer needs was conducted. The data gathered from that then got processed and turned into a product specification. From the product specification multiple concepts were developed. One of the concepts got chosen and further developed into a model in CAD. The product consists of the subgroups frame, pulling mechanism, rotation of glass tubes and burner. The frame keeps all the other parts connected and secure. The pulling is performed by three ballscrews driven by a single motor and connected by a drive belt. At both ends of the glass tube it is rotation using a stepper motor directly connected to the chuck. The burner is powered by propane and has a round opening directly angled towards the glass tube. The product got developed practically through work in a workshop with a mill and lathe and through the purchase of standard components. A first prototype was made and then put through a few tests. Based on the result the product should be able to meet all product requirement, but mote testing is necessary.
Att “tolka” framtiden : Utmaningar för ett svenskt tolkföretag i en AI-driven utveckling
Uppsatsen undersöker hur ett svenskt tolkföretag strategiskt hanterar det teknikskifte som artificiell intelligens (AI) innebär. Genom en kvalitativ fallstudie av Transvoice, en av Sveriges ledande aktörer inom tolkbranschen, analyseras förändringsprocessen med fokus på strategiska ledares roll och deras upplevda utmaningar i en teknologidriven omställning. Uppsatsen tillämpar en analysmodell baserad på Kotters åttastegsmodell som analytiskt ramverk, med särskild betoning på de fem första stegen. Empirin har samlats in via semistrukturerade intervjuer med nyckelpersoner i företagets AI-projekt. Studien visar att företaget befinner sig i ett tidigt till mellanliggande skede av en strategisk transformation där yttre krav, tekniska möjligheter och intern osäkerhet samverkar. Studien pekar på centrala utmaningar såsom otydlig vision, kompetensbrist, organisatorisk oro samt svårigheter att formulera en hållbar affärsmodell
Explainable AI in Football: Enhancing XGBoost interpretation with SHAP, Counterfactuals and LLM
Football is a complex game, and recently, data-driven decisions have become increasingly popular for developing strategies and understanding player gameplay among coaches and club analysts. Numerous studies have utilized machine learning techniques to analyze football data and derive insights into player behavior. However, this implementation presents the data and results in a numerical output. To understand it and take the advantage of this result it is still a tricky part for the coaches, as they are not in the field of the data scientist and still wonder how the model makes the decision and also the numerical data is not self-explainable for them, hence the final result still cannot be entirely utilized as it remains unclearly understood to the users. The project aims to address this gap and make the output as understandable as possible using new tools, such as Large Language Model(LLM), explainable Artificial Intelligence, and machine learning models. Extreme Gradient Boosting (XGBoost) is chosen as the decision made by this model is completely executed in the black box, and to explore it and make it explainable using tools such as Partial Dependence Plot (PDP), counterfactual explanations, and the Shapley Additive exPlantions (SHAP) library. Furthermore, To have all these tools available to the user at one stop, a web-based application with Large Language Model(LLM) text is easy for coaches to understand and interpret
Väd händer med oss? : En mänsklig och icke-mänsklig strävan efter att upptäcka de icke-dominerande lagren i landskapet "Grootteweg''
The sentiment in Zeeland is that people are ‘born out of water’, as land was grown from the sea this represents the resilience and power of the people of Zeeland. In recent years, the threat of water ‘taking over’ again in Zeeland has become more realistic with global warming causing sea-level rise accumulatively. Rising sea-levels in combination with the goals of the Dutch government to reduce carbon emissions with 55% by 2030, and be carbon neutral in 2050, facilitate actions in terms of energy and water reclamation. The country-wide electricity network capacity needs to be enhanced to accommodate ‘green’ power. This energy transition stands high on the sustainability agenda of the Netherlands. One of the industrial clusters where this transition is planned is in Zeeuws-Vlaanderen. The company TenneT, commissioned by the government, is planning a new high-voltage station on the ‘Grootteweg’ – a piece of farmland in between hamlets the ‘Knol’ and ‘Wulpenbek’. The land is used for recreation by villagers, bordering water, dikes, and the Dow chemical factory. The incentives of the government and TenneT are clear: the power station has to be built to reach the climate objectives, but what about the landscape and its residents? Are they offered enough space to let their voices speak? In this I use ‘deep mapping’ to point out the different layers of this landscape through the personal stories of residents. Therefore, interviews make up my main method. Furthermore, other layers will be explored through workshops, government reports, film, and fieldwork. This methodology allows me to discuss and assess what sensibilities are potentially brought forth with deep mapping as a method and a theory. It shows the multiple, often hidden, dimensions of changing landscapes and how different realities can be brought to the surface.
The EU Dual Use Regulation : How do Sweden and Poland differ in their national implementation of Regulation (EU) 2021/821, and what might these differences suggest for their respective export activities?
In the changing geopolitical context, the European Union introduced Regulation (EU)2021/821 to improve the previous regime and prevent certain EU exports from being usedcontrary to the EU's security interests. This regulation increases exporters' compliance burdens by introducing new licensing requirements and a "catch-all" clause. Industry stakeholders, particularly in the digital and high-tech sectors, have raised concerns about the lack of legal certainty and the uneven implementation of the Regulation across EU Member States. Despite having a harmonisation intent, Regulation 2021/821 has led to varying interpretations and enforcement practices at the national level, resulting in legal uncertainty for exporters. This fragmented approach leads to fragmented applications and competitive disadvantages within the internal market. To explore this in practice, this thesis conducts a comparative analysis of the distinct legal systems of Poland and Sweden. The thesis applies a doctrinal legal method along with thematic analysis of stakeholder reports on Regulation 2021/821 to assess its implementation in Sweden and Poland. Using the OLI-framework, the thesis interprets how national differences inimplementation influence exporters operating within the internal market. The analysis identifies legal fragmentation in the Regulation’s national implementation, particularly regarding the 'catch-all' clause and risk control mechanisms. These disparities complicate compliance, distort the internal market and may even deter investment. The study concludes that further legal clarity, harmonisation and multilateral interpretation mechanisms are needed to enhance the predictability of dual-use exports within the EU
Ett snus, flera ZYNvinklar : En studie av hur Swedish Match balanserar sekundära intressenters krav i sin varumärkeskommunikation
Denna studie undersöker hur Swedish Match, som verkar inom den stigmatiserade tobaksindustrin, anpassar sin varumärkeskommunikation som svar på externt tryck från sekundära intressenter såsom staten, media, hälsoorganisationer och konkurrenter. Genom en kvalitativ fallstudie av Swedish Match och deras tobaksfria nikotinprodukt ZYN, analyseras hur företaget bemöter legitimitetsutmaningar och regleringskrav i sin strategiska kommunikation. Studien använder sig av komponenter från intressentteorin för att forma en egen analysram, för att undersöka relationen mellan inflytande och strategisk respons, samt identifierar hur företaget kombinerar proaktiva och reaktiva strategier för att stärka sitt rykte och minimera kritik. Resultatet visar att Swedish Match ofta agerar förebyggande för att stärka legitimiteten, men också påverkas av konkurrenters agerande och samhällsdebatten. Studien bidrar med en fördjupad förståelse för hur företag i kontroversiella branscher kan balansera externa krav i sin varumärkeskommunikation
In vitro test av sensor med gelatinfantom : Framtagning av testprotokoll för verifiering av en kombinationssensor
Musculoskeletal pain is a common problem, and it is important to localise the source of the damaged tissue to be able to treat it. Damaged tissue has deviating physiological parameters such as conductivity, oxygen content and pH. Sensors that can measure these parameters are available ex vivo and development of a sensor that can measure these parameters in vivo inhuman tissue with one sensor device is ongoing. In this report a needle type sensor that can measure both conductivity and oxygen saturation in vivo is used, and the aim is to produce a test protocol to calibrate and verify the function of the sensor by in vitro testing. In order to accomplish this aim, hydrogel phantoms with different conductivity, oxygen content and mechanical properties were created to mimic human tissue. The phantoms were based on gelatine and water with different additives to achieve the desired chemical properties. The phantoms were then measured with the sensor, and it was successful in being able to measure the difference in conductivity and oxygen content. From the methods used in this report and the results of the phantom testing, test protocols for the sensor were created that can be used to calibrate and verify its function
