    Fundamental Study on Rheological Behaviour of Palm-Based Biodiesel Environmentally Friendly Oil Based Mud for Drilling of Oil and Gas Wells

    This study explores palm-based biodiesel mud as an eco-friendly alternative to diesel-based drilling fluids. Experimental analysis showed that palm-based mud exhibited comparable rheological properties, lower fluid loss, and better density stability, making it a viable substitute. Economic evaluation revealed a lower production cost and promising investment potential. Thermal stability tests affirmed its suitability across different temperatures. The findings highlight palm-based biodiesel mud as a sustainable, cost-effective solution for reducing environmental impact in drilling operations

    The Fraser Zone in the Albany–Fraser Orogen, Western Australia, represents a crucial site for studying Proterozoic crustal evolution and mineralization. This research investigates its complex tectonic and magmatic history through detrital zircon analysis, Sm–Nd isotopes, and U–Pb apatite thermochronology. Findings reveal a back-arc setting influenced by heterogeneous magma sources and multiple thermal events. This study provides new insights into crust-mantle interactions and aids in refining exploration models for Ni–Cu–Co deposits in high-grade terranes

    Include, Individualize, and Integrate HRM Practices for Successful Aging at Work: Scale Development and Test of a Model

    Managing an older and more age-diverse workforce is critical given the population aging that is occurring across the globe. Yet, the literature is still under-developed with regards to which human resource management (HRM) practices help to support aging employees and enable organizations to benefit from an age-diverse workforce. We draw on an integrative framework of organizational meta-strategies, the 3i framework, to test a path model in which 3i HRM practices differentially impact successful aging at work outcomes, including engagement, career withdrawal, and proactive career behavior. The 3i framework encompasses inclusive practices aimed at reducing biases and creating an inclusive climate for workers, individualized practices aimed at designing and adapting work to the changing needs of an age-diverse workforce, and integrative practices targeted at effective collaboration and knowledge sharing processes across age groups. We theorized that include influences successful aging outcomes through belongingness, individualize through needs-supplies fit, and integrate through promotive voice. Prior to testing the model, we first report a study in which we developed and validated the 12-item 3i-HRM scale using three diverse samples (total N = 945) of employees from the USA and Australia. We subsequently used the 3i-HRM scale to test our theoretical model using a time-lagged design with 221 employees. By providing this initial evidence, we hope to stimulate future research focusing on an integrative approach to understanding factors that support an age-diverse workforce

    The thesis introduced a novel clustering framework utilising a composite cluster assessment index informed by subject matter expert knowledge to guide the selection of optimal cluster hyper-parameters. The framework defined five offensive, five defensive, and six transitional team playing styles and six offensive, six defensive, and four transitional player playing styles implemented in the 2021 – 2023 AFL seasons. Further analysis of team playing styles and individual playing performance uncovered deeper insights to assist coaching decisions

    Out-of-hospital Cardiac Arrest in Rural Versus Metropolitan Locations in Western Australia: An Epidemiological and Spatial Analysis

    This doctoral research examines the impact of rurality on the incidence, management, and survival of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest in Western Australia. Rural areas had lower survival despite higher bystander intervention rates. However, rural cases had longer ambulance mobilisation times, and longer overall response times. Geospatial analysis revealed decreased survival as a function of distance from town, however, most rural cases occurred within townships. Tailored first-responder programs and improved mobilisation could enhance survival in rural areas

    Exploring bias in artificial intelligence: stereotypes and gendered narratives in digital imagery of early childhood educators

    Generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) has revolutionized many aspects of our daily lives, including how we interact with and perceive media. GenAI’s capability to generate images, especially AI models like DALL-E, has opened new avenues for visual representation. However, these technological advancements are deeply intertwined with societal norms and narratives, particularly concerning gendered roles and professions. Content analysis was utilized to identify patterns in AI-generated images of early childhood educators and leaders, including the representation of gender and other characteristics. Through a feminist post- structuralist theoretical approach, this paper seeks to understand whether AI perpetuates existing stereotypes or offers a medium to challenge and redefine them. Findings suggest that generative AI reinforces existing stereotypes associated with gender in professional roles, portraying early childhood educators and leaders in biased ways that conform to traditional stereotypes. This study adds to the broader literature about the impact of GenAI in reinforcing or dismantling stereotypes in early childhood education

    Fast Protection Level for Precise Positioning Using PPP-RTK with Robust Adaptive Kalman Filter

    Developing advanced receiver autonomous integrity monitoring (ARAIM) for ground real-time precise positioning applications such as autonomous vehicles presents computational challenges, particularly in calculating real-time protection levels (PLs) that bound possible positioning errors under an acceptable integrity risk. This study proposes an enhanced method for fast PL estimation by introducing a segmentation approach to the Gershgorin circle theorem-based technique for computing standard deviation upper bounds (UBs). The method divides satellites into segments based on normalised geometry mapping coefficients, allowing multiple UBs instead of a single bound for all subsets within each fault-tolerant mode. The approach is implemented for PPP-RTK with improved Classification Adaptive Kalman Filter (CAKF). Testing is conducted using a network of 10 continuously operating reference stations (CORS) employing dual-frequency mul-ti-constellation GNSS data. Results show that when monitoring single fault mode, the PL ranges from 0.05 to 0.1 m with a PL-to-PE ratio of 30:1, while dual fault modes monitoring yields PL from 1 to 10 m with a ratio of 3700:1. The segmentation method achieves 1-5% tighter PLs, i.e. better in-tegrity monitoring (IM) availability, compared to the classical single UB approach while main-taining the same computational efficiency by reducing processed subsets from 325 to 1 for dual fault modes. While the method provides slight improvement in PL tightness, it can be more computa-tionally efficient when having geometries with dominant off-diagonal correlation that fails the computation of an UB
