Using an autoethnographic lens, the researcher self-explored the influence of her identity on andragogy in culturally diverse work-related education. The researcher firstly interrogated the identity-changing events while living in Australia. Secondly, she considered how the changes in her self-perceived identity over her Australian journey, shaped her practice of andragogy in her subsequent Mauritian experience. The findings led to an educator’s framework as a self-help for educators to self-assess the appropriateness of their teaching attitude and behaviour

This project combines a YA novel, She Said, He Said, They Said, and an exegesis to explore toxic masculinity, consent, and rape culture within AFL culture. Through multiple perspectives and feminist critique, it argues that controversial YA fiction can challenge adolescent biases and support educators in fostering empathy and critical thinking. It positions YA literature as a transformative tool for addressing entrenched patriarchal ideologies in secondary English classrooms
Network-based precise orbit determination of broadband LEO satellites using Doppler-shift measurements
This paper presents a novel approach for precise orbit determination (POD) of broadband low Earth orbit (LEO) satellites employing Doppler shift measurements using a regional ground station network. Unlike traditional GNSS-based POD methods, our approach leverages the distinctive Doppler signatures generated by the high orbital velocities of LEO satellites, addressing the challenges posed by the signal characteristics and hardware constraints of broadband satellites. We develop a comprehensive mathematical framework for network-based POD and propose three distinct approaches to handle satellite clock synchronization: reference satellite selection, zero-mean constraint, and clock ensemble methods. Using simulated observations from a regional network of 18 continuously operating reference stations tracking Starlink satellites, we demonstrate the theoretical algorithmic potential for significant orbital accuracy improvements under simulation conditions, achieving theoretical upper bounds of mm-level positions (from 15 km initial errors), 10−9 m/s velocities(from 1.5 km/s initial errors), and 2 × 10−9 s/s clock drift precision (from 10−8 s/s initial errors). These improvements translate to an enhancement in Doppler measurement accuracy from 1.5 × 103 m/s to 2 × 10−9 m/s. The clock ensemble approach exhibits superior stability and robustness, though at a higher computational cost. These achievements confirm the theoretical potential of the developed model. Practical implementation is still constrained by hardware limitations, environmental factors, and signal processing complexities, which need further investigation. This research adds to the ongoing research in utilizing broadband LEO satellites for reliable positioning, navigation, and timing, particularly valuable for users where traditional GNSS signals may be compromised or insufficient
Focus on Middle East and Central Asia: rationale of IMF assistance seeking
This study delves into the rationale behind the tendency of nations in the Middle East and Central Asia (MECA) to seek aid from the IMF. The IMF supports global financial stability, aiming to foster economic growth and prosperity across its member countries by promoting policies that encourage monetary cooperation and financial resilience. The study employs a conditional fixed-effects logit model, the analysis spans 22 years of data from twenty-five MECA countries to identify the factors driving these nations to seek IMF assistance. It focuses on six determinants: Current Account Balance (CAB), Inflation (INF), Corruption (CORR), General Government Net Lending and Borrowing (GGNLB), General Government Gross Debt (GGGD), and Gross Domestic Product Growth (GDPG). The fixed-effects logit shows that slower GDP growth raises the odds of an IMF programme, while short-run changes in corruption control and public debt ratios are not significant once country and year effects are absorbed. Inflation is weakly positive; the current account balance is still insignificant. A post-GFC and an income-group robustness check confirm the pattern. Furthermore, the study identifies Lebanon, a lower-middle-income country, as a leading example of seeking IMF assistance during the study period. Overall, this research highlights the importance of policymakers understanding the dynamics and rankings within the MECA region to effectively address economic challenges, provide financial support, and foster a more sustainable economic structure
Optimising High Temperature Thermochemical Energy Storage Systems: A Comprehensive Analysis of Heat Transfer Efficiency, Cost, and Comparative Performance
This thesis investigates calcium carbonate thermochemical energy storage systems (TCES) that undertake high-temperature thermal energy storage. The work details a CFD analysis for heat transfer optimisation, with a detail levelised cost of electricity (LCOE) analysis across multiple carbon dioxide storage methods, and PV supply strategies. Results show that improved geometry and emissivity increase thermal heat transfer, whilst CO2 compression as a storage mechanism yields the lowest LCOE. This work offers techno-economic suggestions for advancing TCES as a cost effective renewable energy storage solution
Exploratory study of fathers providing Kangaroo Care in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
Aim and Objectives: To explore fathers' views and experiences of providing Kangaroo Care (KC) to their baby cared for in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Background: Kangaroo Care has been known to improve the health outcome for preterm, low birth weight and medically vulnerable term infants and achieve the optimal perinatal health wellbeing for parents and infants. Historically, mothers are considered as the dominant KC providers, whereas fathers are spectators and have been overlooked. Little is known about the fathers' perspectives in providing KC in NICUs. Methods: Individual semi-structured interviews were conducted with 10 fathers who delivered KC to their baby when in the NICU. Data were analysed using Braun and Clarke's six-phase thematical framework. The Consolidated Criteria for Reporting Qualitative Research (COREQ) checklist was followed to report this qualitative study. Findings: Fathers in this study identified they were passing a silent language of love and connecting with their baby by the act of KC in a challenging environment. Three themes emerged: ‘Positive psychological connection’, ‘Embracing father-infant Kangaroo Care’ and ‘Challenges to father-infant Kangaroo Care’. Conclusion: The findings of this study show KC enhances the bonding and attachment between fathers and infants. The conceptualisation of the paternal role in caregiving to a newborn is evolving as a contemporary practice. Further research is warranted to confirm or refute the study findings. Policies and facilities should be modified to include father–infant KC within the fields of neonatal care. Relevance to Clinical Practice: It is important for nurses and other health professionals to support and enable fathers to give KC. Father–infant KC is recommended in neonatal care settings
