Get PDFAfter the reopening of the Spanish question controversial case, in May 1949 were it was a special and intense month for the delegates of the United Nations. At the suggestion of four Latin-American countries, the condemnatory resolutions were questioned over the Franco regime coming from December 1946. Within this conjuncture, where the controversies were exhibited among the participating countries, the posture of Costa Rica was involved in a strong polemic in front of the disobedience of its UN delegates, as well as the existing fractures in the Junta de Gobierno and among this and the new elected president Otilio Ulate (1949-1953). Nevertheless, the new presidency was a determining factor for the overall regularization of the relations between Costa Rica and Spain, which culminated with the signature of an agreement of perpetual friendship in 1953.Tras la reapertura del caso de la controvertida Spanish question, aquel mayo de 1949 fue un mes especialmente intenso para los delegados de las Naciones Unidas. A propuesta de cuatro países latinoamericanos, se pusieron en cuestionamiento las resoluciones condenatorias que pesaban sobre el gobierno del general Franco desde diciembre de 1946. En esta coyuntura, que dejó entrever las grandes diferencias de criterio entre los países miembros, la posición de Costa Rica estuvo envuelta en una fuerte polémica, ante la indisciplina de sus delegados en la ONU y las grandes fracturas existentes en el seno de la Junta de Gobierno, así como entre ésta y el nuevo presidente electo Otilio Ulate (1949-1953). Sin embargo, la nueva presidencia fue determinante para la normalización plena de las relaciones entre Costa Rica y España, que culminó con la firma de un tratado de amistad perpetua en 1953

Get PDFDie Medien werden seit Monaten in fast ganz Europa von der Flüchtlingskrise dominiert. Auch Jenny Erpenbecks Roman Gehen, ging, gegangen setzt sich mit der Thematik auseinander, allerdings nicht als eine Reaktion auf die immer stärkere Medienpräsenz. Vielmehr bewegt sie die Frage, „was das für Menschen waren, bevor sie Flüchtlinge geworden sind.“ (Erpenbeck 2015a) Identitätskonstruktionen sowohl von Flüchtlingen, aber auch der Menschen in Europa, wo diese Flüchtlinge ankommen, stehen im Mittelpunkt. Deutschland wird dabei zur Kontaktzone zwischen dem Fremden und dem Eigenen, zwischen Identität und Alterität. In diesem Zusammenhang wird ‚der Andere‘ dem Selbst aber nicht dichotom gegenübergestellt, vielmehr ist das Nicht-Ich dem Ich drastisch vorgeschaltet, wie schon Adorno es formulierte, und wird somit zu einem konstitutiven Bestandteil der eigenen Identität. Neben diesem Sachverhalt wird der Stellenwert von Narration sowohl für individuelle wie kollektive Identitätskonstruktionen untersucht, da besonders kollektive Identitäten als rhetorischer Prozess verstanden werden können. Dazu werden häufig Mythen bemüht, um die eigenen Identitätsentwürfe zu kreieren und zu festigen.Mass media have been dominated by the migrant crisis for months. Also Jenny Erpenbeck’s novel Gehen, ging, gegangen treats this topic, but not just as a reaction to its growing media exposure. She rather raises the question, who were these people, before they became migrants. What takes center stage is the construction of the refugees’ identity but also of the people’s identity in Europe, where the migrants arrive. In this context, Germany becomes the contact zone between ‘the otherʼ and ‘the selfʼ, between identity and alterity. Nonetheless, ‘the otherʼ is not presented here as the dichotomic counterpart but as an essential ingredient of this ‘selfʼ, as Adorno had stated. Apart from this issue, the importance of narration for the construction of both the individual and the collective identity will be analyzed, since especially collective identities can be understood as a rhetoric process. In this context, myths are often used for the creation and stabilization of identity.Los medios de comunicación se ven dominados hace meses en casi toda Europa por la crisis migratoria. También la novela Gehen, ging, gegangen de Jenny Erpenbeck trata la temática, pero no como una simple reacción a su presencia en los medios. A ella le inquieta más la pregunta cómo eran estas personas antes de convertirse en refugiados. Por lo tanto, las construcciones de identidad de los refugiados, pero también de los europeos, son el centro de interés. En este caso Alemania se convierte en el espacio de contacto entre lo foráneo y lo propio, entre identidad y alteridad. No obstante, no se contrapone ‘el otro’ al yo de manera dicotómica, sino el ‘no-yo’ es algo preexistente al yo como lo constató ya Adorno y se convierte por lo tanto, en una parte constitutiva de la propia identidad. Aparte de esta situación se analiza también la importancia de la narración para construcciones de identidades tanto individuales como colectivas, ya que especialmente la identidad colectiva puede ser interpretada como proceso retórico. Para ello se recurre a menudo a mitos para crear y afianzar construcciones de identidad

Institutional devices and school failure management: the paradoxes of attention to diversity in ESO
Get PDFEste artículo analiza, a partir de un trabajo etnográfico, uno de los principales modos de gestión del “fracaso escolar” en la enseñanza secundaria obligatoria: los dispositivos institucionales conocidos como “medidas de atención a la diversidad” (MAD). Analizando la lógica práctica de estos programas en un contexto concreto, muestra cómo se construye a los alumnos para cada dispositivo en las prácticas de clasificación y asignación a estas medidas, cómo estas formas de clasificación afectan a las expectativas y a las prácticas pedagógicas de los docentes, y cómo las MAD se encuentran atravesadas en su organización pedagógica por diversas tensiones y ambivalencias. Estos dispositivos han modificado la estructura de la educación obligatoria y los procesos de selección escolar, afectando a la construcción de los juicios escolares, las jerarquías de alumnos y las trayectorias escolares de los estudiantes.This paper presents the results of an ethnographic study of one of the main institutional devices meant to tackle “school failure” within secondary compulsory education (ESO) in Spain: the so called “attention to diversity measures” (MAD). Analysing the practical logic of these programs in a specific context, it shows how students are constructed for each program through classification practices and routines, how teachers’ expectations and practices are affected by these institutional classifications, and how MAD experience multiple tensions and ambivalences in their pedagogical organization. These institutional devices have modified the structure of compulsory education and the processes of educational selection, affecting the construction of scholastic judgments, student hierarchies and trajectories
